  • That wrestlers had no ground game at all, of course jitsu would win in a submission match.

  • I do both and fought against a wrestler who had no BJJ or submission experience. Beat his ass. It was definitely interesting, but he he had no knowledge of how to beat me. And BJJ doesn't have as many rules as wrestling.

  • wrestlers can be the most dominant fighters. if they wana stand up and strike, they have the techniques and skills to stay standing and not get taken down. if they wana go to the ground they can take ppl down better than anyone else. BJJ and wrestling arent really comparable. i believe you would need wrestling to take it to the ground and to impose your weight on them/drive yourself onto them and you wud need BJJ do defend, pass, reverse, submit. i mean honestly a combination of both is best

  • and Auongsuk in a real fight the wrestler would be gullotined in about 3 seconds, i know cuz ive seen it happen

  • wrestling has a lot more holes in it than bjj because wrestling now adays is just for sport fun but the reason you see so many guys from that in ufc is becuase they are d1 wrestler and that means they are very athletic while since bjj was designed for the weaker alot of bjj guys arent exactly the strongest fastest guys around, but in my experience bjj/judo/sambo are the only arts that have a chance against a skilled wrestler

  • wrestling is good for takedowns and control, bjj is better on the ground and noob bjjers can defeat more experienced wrestlers with simple techniques

  • @drankyodrank This is 100% true, you are 150% correct I see this everyday at my training camp, but kids will be kids.

  • A very true vid and any1 who voted down on this is troll. I do both and this is a typical match between the 2 sports. On my wrestleing team every1 is so cocky when it comes to MMA and they all think that Wrestleing is better. Then i kich their butts with jiu jitsu and wala a bunch of guys stilll think that their the best but aren't this vid really shoves it in their faces since they lose not only in matches but on youtube hahahahahaha you rule amnem!

  • Would you happen to know what year this was?

  • Of course every fight is individual but generally I'd put Just BJJ over just wrestling. Wrestlers don't comprehend submissions and will mostly because of that become victims of them. A wrestler though who does know some BJJ may have an advantage over the BJJ-guy if he can use his ground and pound.

It all depends on the fighter.

  • yo Auongsuk didnt Lesnar get tapped by mir with a ankle lock haha xD epic fail

  • that reff sucks no need to be that close unless your right about to stop the fight

  • toma otario ,enfrentar jujiteiro é apanhar mesmo ,,BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU ,,,

  • wrestling has advanteges and disadvantages, as does bjj, really all that matters is the fighter, and instead of always fighting over witch is better i like to think, what would a combination of the two styles be like, pretty kick ass if you ask me.

  • @rorschach789 i agree

i do jiu jitsu outside of school

and am going to do wrestling through highschool

and hopefully get a college scholarship for it

  • U rest your case riodejaneir10? It seems to me Auonsuk provided examples proving his view valid while you just say crap like "give me a break" and "face reality." Not only are wrestlers better fighters they are also apparently more intelligent as well.

  • When these guys gonna learn that brazilian jiu-jitsu beats all martial arts? They already show the worls that the martial arts that won most fight in the world is brazilian jiu-jitsu and judo. Wrestling? Give me a break! Face reality! Compare the fights with any martial arts.

The results... Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo.

    I rest my case.

  • In a real fight a blow-job jitsu fighter could never beat a wrestler. Bjj kids roll around the ground while real men (wrestlers) pound people into dust. That's real fighting. This was a bjj master vs. a noob wrestler who is obviously out of shape. A fight of equally skilled fighters of the two styles will always end in the wrestler winning. Look at the last UFC heavyweight title fight Lesnar vs. Couture: BOTH WRESTLERS. I rest my case

  • Ummm....no. Lyoto Machida ring a bell?

Look at the current title holders over all.

    LW: BJ Penn...BJJ black belt

    WW: GSP....BJJ black belt

    MW: Anderson Silva....BJJ black belt.

    LHW: Machida....BJJ black belt.

HW: Two title holders....one of which is Mir...a BJJ black belt.

  • Yes Lyoto Machida rings a bell, a man who wins the vast majority of his fights utilizing his black belt skills in shotokan karate, not bjj. Also Lesnar, a wrestler, is the true champion. The whole "intern" crap is just to sell more ppv buys by having multiple heavyweight champions. And GSP keeps bjj on the back burner while primarily using other styles. So ummm... yes. You have been refuted.

  • Refuted my eye. He made his case.

  • He made his case using invalid examples attributing the style of BJJ to fighters who do not train primarily in that style. As far as "recognizing the importance in MMA of BJJ" (Allentate) is concerned that is not really a point at all. You may need a little BJJ training but do you think any MMA fighter can expect a victory when they do not know how to sprawl, a wrestling counter to a low grapple? I think not. Thus BJJ is needed, but wrestling is needed more.

  • all of his fights

  • @Auongsuk well since wrestling has neither submissions, nor any defense against strikes,as a single method its severely lacking for a fight. There are no pure wrestlers in mma ,everybody is a hybrid .

  • @Auongsuk what do u mean wrestlers spend a lot of time on the ground too and if you do take 2 equally matched people like royce gracie and ken shamrock in their fight royce won. and there is alot more successful jiu jitsu fighters in UFC than wrestlers and dont get me wrong I love both Randy Couture and brock lesner but really when do see brock lesner use wrestling all he does is get on top and pounds you so before you go saying stuff get ur shit straight

  • @Auongsuk i have nothing against wrestlers but really, ok now your the only wrestler i do not like, jiu jitsu is not a shitty type of fighting i was in jiu jitsu (not bjj) but the acual jiu jitsu was created to kill people wrestling was created as a sport, i remember i was a yellow belt in jiu jitsu and faught a wrestler that had been wrestleing his whole life i won every round, one more thing did your pedophile wrestling coach tell u it was a man sport? it was created by gay men in greece......

  • @mrjaret67 Fucking psychopath greeks.. who fucked each other, and would kill each other in front of an audience who found it socially acceptable.

  • he's good

  • Yes wrestling is a part of fighting, takedowns are great, but u r giving a Bjj person a free ride home. Look at the evolution, begining till now. Enough of addressing the ignorance, MUITO BOA LUTA PEDRO. Pedro is the reason that I train. Obrigado! Brient, training with Carlson Gracie Jiu-jitsu in Temecula

  • Every wrestler that has been named ALL TRAIN BJJ. Coture used to get beat up, check your tapes. Lesner, The unnatural freak, got put to shame when he tapped from a weak knee bar and he had been trainin for over a year in mma. I guesse they don't teach that in greko-homo wrestling.

  • Lesnar trains bjj and look how easily he got knee bared, the fact is that every sucsessful fighter trains Bjj. Wake up u dummies! The man in this video baisicly gave me my jiu-jitsu, with skill and excellent instruction. I almost stopped training forever, untill he trained with me almost every time i went. So Obrigado y Boa Pedro! Brient

  • Nice Pedro!!!!

  • whats with the Music

  • because he cant escape lol everywhere he goes he is being controlled.

  • look up fly away...on you tube lol

  • bbj always beats werstling

werstling is the worst ground fight if the westler knows submissions he would be better than the bjj fighter

  • always? so why the fuck are there so many american wrestlers in mma? does randy couture always lose against bjj? his styles are muay thai and wrestling

  • if you check it out very well you will find this : all the MMA fighters have to train for BBJ it`s needed it`s 80% or more of the win , werstling it just got put there coz it`s number 1 in usa with boxing ,

werstling is not a complete ground game , BBJ is the best ground game show me how many times a werstler beat a BBJ fighter ??

never , for randy couture he has his own style which dosent work all the time ,

compare frank mir and randy ? which one beat lesnar easier and how

  • er, perhaps mir could win easier because he had a better day or lesnar a worse? and, i beg you, fedor emilianenko is the most succesful fighter ever and he has NOTHING to do with bjj. but his sambo has elements of wrestling in it. but these are questions that are decided by the fighter, not by the style. a point that the gracies never could understand.

  • u know i dislike gracie style and familly but , back in the day when few ppl know about MMA BBJ was the best royce gracie beat them all

he beat shomrock in his best days , shomrock was way havier than him and rated as one of the best werstler in the world , and also beat the russian judo world champ , but years later the MMA change to be a style and training changed to deal with the ground deffense specily with take down deffense and dirty boxing ,and clinchs check matt hug vs grcie

  • wrestlers have beaten bjj many times in mma ,couture over gonzaga, belfort, kerr over gurghel and several more .Bjj is more effective once on the ground though but have trouble getting or defending the takedown .

  • randy trains jiu jitsu

    thats why

  • No it is not. Every chance he gets Randy attributes his success in the UFC to his wrestling skills, not something he dabbled in once in a great while. He trains in wrestling because it is a superior fighting style that has won him all of his championships.

  • Refuted how?

The point was that nearly all of the current champions recognize the important of BJJ to mixed martial arts, to the point that they worked to achieve a black belt in the art.

I'm certainly not saying that BJJ beats all....but it has to be addressed in MMA, even by wrestlers.

  • @Mudjin There are more rassler's in MMA because idiots like Joe Rogan sold them a bill of goods and they bought it. Grappling has its part in MMA, but it far from defines it. Now that more fighters have concentrated on improving both striking and takedown defense, grappling is becoming more and more neutralized. Look at the fans, they hate rasslers. All they care about is seeing a punch or kick to the face, not a rasslin' match.

  • what was that tournament ?

i have searched for the pedro's record in mma but i didnt found anythink, does everyone know about it ?

  • I have known Pedro Carvalho for over 15 years and is one of the best BJJ instructors in Southern California. His BJJ skills are simply amazing!
