Less than 5k years ago Lake Bonneville covered most of Utah. The lake was 5k ft above sea level. The Southern dam gave way possibly from a Volcanic eruption or earthquake. There is a fault line that runs the length of Utah and evidence of volcanic activity can be seen in S. Utah. A fragment of the lake remains. It is called the Great Salt Lake! The massive flood waters from the lake rushed 3k ft down hill and cut the Grand Canyon. So, the Grand Canyon is less than 5000 years old!
Lake Bonneville was drained over sixteen thousand years ago through Red Rock Pass in Idaho, which is fully seven hundred miles north of the Grand Canyon.
Lake Bonneville's drainage did not create a Grand Canyon in Downey, Idaho, and certainly did not create the Grand Canyon in Arizona.
Please; for the sake of humanity, demand reason, evidence and fact from whoever is teaching you what you accept as your own beliefs on faith alone. It's your responsibility as a human to demand scientific proof.

I believe the problem is, we don't have access to all the scientific info that is out there, and we have paid for it. Only sometimes we discover something new in the news that was discovered years ago, and we get exited. We should be able to know things right away, and not have to wait for the scientists to decide if we should be informed.
Um, you can read all about what they're discussing in scientific peer review literature that is published practically non-stop. Scientists don't horde information and reveal only the 'good bits', the announce it as they discover it and don't talk about it as theory or fact/law until it's progressed from the hypothesis level.
