What if we spent that TRILLION dollars on our people, creating new industries and thereby jobs, funding education and new technology? What if we invested in our people directly? What would our nation be like today?

The reason they have all the american money is because drugs are illegal. This drives the price up and puts money in the wrong hands. It would be morally contemptible to legalize drugs, but if we did, perhaps drug money would go to corporations (subject to regulation and taxes) instead of cartels (untouchable).
