  • Description says after multiple top speed runs. What's this thing top out at?

  • @ZRacerofTEAMS7 With the 5 speed and IIRC 4.1 diiferential, it'll bang off the 7200rpm rev limiter at 145ish mph. After he blew up the five speed and got a six speed, top speed approaches quickly at only 136ish mph.

  • run more boost pussy

  • @mthura Your name looks familiar. You on MT? This motor ended up with 4 bent rods. It happened while I was driving it actually. No knock. In this case, it was too much boost.

  • @Kloopofadown haha but now you have the opportunity for a built motor! :) Did a rod escape? What made you pull out the motor? And yes I am on MT ;)

  • @Kloopofadown Is this the Garrett S-3 kit?

  • your going 125 but i bet it feels like your going 180 in that little car

  • nice but what does yours top out at ?

  • It took it about 23 seconds right?

  • This thing moves... It'll beat an evo or sti

  • @ShawnSubaru highly doubtable

  • @str8gone04 It will easily beat a evo or sti. We're thinking the wastegate actuator rod was detached in this video, so it isn't up to snuff here. I may record another video some day.

  • Sounds clean!

  • nice sound

  • how HP it is????

  • @virusgood1 28

  • @virusgood1 You'relike everyone else. READ THE DISCRIPTION!

  • @96integra02 A Miata is a whole lot lighter and way more fun on a race track. You'd spend more money just buying a stock supra than that setup would cost, and it would perform way better than one.

  • I have a 93 miata with zero engine mods. Just suspension, brakes, and tires. I'm curious as to how much fellow Miata owners have spent to get their Miata's sub 12second quarter mile times

  • @wreckless83 To get into the 11's on a reliable daily driven car, you'd probably need to spend upwards of 10k. It would take more than 300whp, built engine, suspension, and some very sticky tires.

  • @Kloopofadown Really? I always thought it would cost more.

  • @wreckless83 That's why I said upwards. it's more of a guess actually, and is highly dependent on how thrifty you are.

  • @wreckless83 That's I say upwards of. That's more of a guess and is highly dependent on how thrifty you are. Yeah I actually want to raise that number to 15k after thinking about it.

  • @Kloopofadown LOL, okay, that sounds a little more realistic now. That's sorta of what I was figuring on. 11's seems somewhat of an overkill on that car, but never actually driving a 11second Miata, I wouldn't know. High 12's I think would be adequate enough for me, but we'd probably still be talking in the 15k range lol

  • @wreckless83 Just breaking into the 12s can be done relatively easily for less than 10k. I'd say there's at sweet spot between cost and speed at 13 seconds. Stock motor, stock drive train are easy to get by with at 13 seconds. Once you try to get into the lower 12s and beyond, it starts to become very costly. Sadly, I'm at that point with my own Miata, and haven't been able to drive it for almost a year now due to it being in pieces, lol.

  • slllllooooooooooooooooooooow . My friend's miata is faster ;)

  • @TCryda Do tell details! :) Got video?

  • Pretty fast

I am building a turbo 90 miata to for this summer

    What do you think of my setup;

    1JZ-gte with t61 turbo @ 23 psi

    r154 5 speed tranny

200 shot NOS( principaly to spool the turbo )

    Supra differential with cv joints

4 supra hubs for 5 bolt conversion and big brake kit

custom molded widebody to accept the 18'' x 10'' rear wheels

  • @Karlou426hemi Have you thought about a turbo V8? It would be cheaper and just as fast. Either way that's going to be pretty crazy.

  • Here's an update on his car: He got the motor built but its been having problems. The stock 5 speed blew up a year after this video was made. He now has a 6 speed, they are reliable up to 400whp. He has plans to build a 2 liter stroker motor and pair a GT2871r with it. FWIW the stock (optional) Torsen differential has been know to grenade at less than 250whp when drag launched with sticky enough tires.

I myself now have a built 2 liter in my car with plans for a GT2871r and 350whp. :)

  • @Kloopofadown What type of 6 speed are you talking about. Don't know much about Mazda parts yet. Don't know the other codes your talking about. Could you clarify what those mean. Nice sounding car you have there. What MPG do you get when driving it easy. If that is something that can be done. lol yl

  • @ylism Mazda put 6 speeds in some 99 and up Miatas. The 6 speed in the Mazdaspeed Miata also supposedly has hardened gears. Driven easy on the highway, one can manage 30mpg. I've done it.

  • @Kloopofadown Thanks for the info. I did a little looking up last night and found the some new models do have a 6 spd trans. It was a M 5 Miata I think. That's really nice gas mileage for a car that been built up. I plan to get one in the near future, after I move. How much does a turbo kit like yours cost completed. I have a 67 Cuda' notch & 69 Super bee now. Also have a Honda Accord . Thanks again. yl

  • @Kloopofadown: What exhaust system are you running, its sounds great man!, and nice driving too!

  • He's now got a built motor. Ran a 11.44 quarter mile.

  • owned

  • my miata is faster.

  • If i wanted 200whp from a miata like urs, what would I need to replace. Clutch probably, but what about the rear end? Will it be safe with 200whp?

  • Clutchs are good til about 250hp if your not doing burnouts everystop sign. and rear end will be fine lol

  • radiator is something to look into as well at 250hp. before you get the turbo, have a mechanic check engine compression and a few other things on the engine...not cool to get a turbo and next day blow the engine :(

  • new clutch is closer to 250whp

  • lol no rear end is safe once its boosted.

just don't shift so damn hard, and inspect it often for leaks, and run heavier duty oil in the diff.

1.6 rear ends can go under stock 90whp. 1.8 diff is a must. I've killed plenty of rear ends with way less then 200whp

  • Swap in a rx7 rear end. Its what i've done.

  • @AirGoya really late response. The rear end of the car handles up to 300whp. Clutch yes, and you may want to sign up on a few miata forums to ask around there. :)

  • nice, a 6 second miata!! mine's like a ten second, lol

  • damn dude thats awesome!

i got a 90 model and i got all kinds of stuff planned for it

  • stock tranny? Any problems yet with it im plannin on runnin 400+ hp im thinkin about the gearing from FM

  • He did eventually blow up the stock 5 speed. The 6 speed he put in will be good for 400whp. I have a friend who started having problems as soon as he went over 400whp.

  • shit aha, well the guy at my work said he would throw together the tranny and all i gota get is bearings, syncros and shift forks around 300$ cause i got dealers cost lol not to bad, i hope the gears arent to noisy cause there straight cut. We will see, im still waiting for my begi s-4 kit for my 1.6L got like almost 30,000$ into it when im done and a 10lb bottle of nos lol shooting for 500hp.

  • I've got the BEGi S4 with GT2860RS in this videoon stock internals and I love it. I'm doing my engine build right now (pistons, rods, valve springs and retainers, all bearings, dual feed fuel rail, BEGi intake manifold and all ARP studs) I'm also doing 3.63 gears, a torsen and an ACPT carbon driveshaft. It should be done around the first of February.

  • nice aha we pretty much almost have the same setup add me to facebook search bubba stranges

  • straight cut gears? gonna be one slow shifting miata........

  • how do you figure? lol

  • Sound damn fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ball parking it, what does it cost to turbo a Miata to specs like this car? (with no labor charges).

  • Around $6000 with all the bells and whistles and without labor. I've got another $4000 planned to go in after the first of the year and then it will really fly. I'll have a $27,000 miata that will run really, really low 11's or high 10's. Not bad.

  • Wow that really flys!

  • If you think that flys, check out the video response I just posted!

  • Left Exit Exhaust on your car should be written as only Left Exit :)

  • Nice nice nice.

  • *smile*

  • what is your setup? Built Motor?

  • He's running a stock motor. GT2860RS Internally gated, 2.75" Downpipe, 3" Mid pipe (no cat), and 3" Left Exit Exhaust.

He's gonna be building the motor this summer.

  • Oh, BTW, 13 psi.
