Yea, I had her mom cut it all off because I'm sort of going bald in the front. She was afraid to cut it because she though thatit would be too short. I like it though.
I'm not black, so I can't say for certain, but in Japan it really doesn't matter. It's not an issue of skin color it's an issue of Japanese or not. Most young people here are very open and friendly. The older people in some areas can be a bit close-minded however. But again, skin color has not much to do with it, if you aren't Japanese, you're under the same umbrella. At least from my experience. The people who get treated the worst here are other Asians, Koreans and Chinese for example.
Ok, that's good to know. I've heard something similar to what you are saying and I wanted to find out more about this. I am so interested in many different cultures but I've heard so many things about racism that it discourages me greatly.
I had a couple of questions for you. I've been interested in learning a languages for a while now. I've started on Japanese recently. But it's not really a language issue but more of a racism issue. I've heard from a couple of people that blacks in Japan and some other Asiatic countries are treated like subhuman. Have you ran into any issues with racism like this? As a black guy, I don't want to learn about a culture and its language if the people don't like me because of my skin....
As I said above, it's not as bad as people make it out to be. Of course your gonna have some close minded people in every culture. You'll be fine man.
however, like shearoberts said; it's more of an issue of Japanese or not
some even go as far as discriminating against those who are NOT from their home region (for example, people from Fukui are discriminated against by people from Kansai)
so being black doesn't really matter (most of the time)

Don't worry about it man- I think people overexaggerate about things like that sometimes. You should go ahead and start your adventure.

Yep, you're 100% correct...I agree with you
