I don't think this version of the song sounds better than the Absolutely Live/In Concert one, although a couple of minutes longer, but damn, this is awesome.

Hey People. You are confused. Ok, you use drugs to escape of this plastic world manipulation. I understand. So, why do you need drugs to listen this song?
I'll tell you something, this song it's my drug. It´s the reason because I wake up and think :" I'm glad to be the spoiled photocopy of this huge photocopying machine called Society". Sorry about the english, and about the opinion, but I think that the fact of you need drugs to enjoy his art is a insult to Jim.
I didn't take drugs to listen this, and it's the best song I've ever heard. I know that jim take a lot of drugs, and If he could not "run" from his own demons He could not compose song and write this lyrics.
The point of my comment it´s that I didn't need drugs to get "high" with this song. I'm not kinding, I closed my eyes , I listen this song and felt something,
ps: If this comment it´s stupid enough to be mistreated, please do not answer to my unimportant opinion.
@HeyDiogoL My point is, Morrison wouldn't have created this kind of crazy shit without drugs, so naturally, it's going to be best listened to high. Yeah, it's still great without drugs, but to condescend others for listening to it the way it was really meant to be listened to doesn't make sense.
@HeyDiogoL its the fact that this music sounds great and appropiate when under the influence of LSD because you never know if you see it through the same perception as Jim himself wrote it, because we ALL know he wrote this on acid.
@raikou6 Hi. how r you? I'm fine too. My coment it's smaller than it looks. The point is I don't need drugs to enjoy the celebration. I'm not saying that is worst with LSD. I'm not calling dirty names to the LSD users, I would love to have my first trip soon.
Perceptions.Art is all in that. The same thing, diferent preceptions. The fact of using LSD will not give you the same preception of jim. Diferent people, diferent trips, diferent preceptions. I'n not against you, I respect you. enjoy it.
You dont need any drugs to listen to Jim Morrison. its art, No art needs drugs. If musicians take drugs, its because the crazy way of life of these modern times, and the sheer exploitation going with it.
@willhare You got that right first time i ever heard this I was just fliping through some old records and threw this on. After that I just had to drag I friends down into my basement to hear this. Its absolutly exilerating to hear Jim live, almost like being there with Jim.
This is my favorite song by The Doors. They were an incredible group, Jim's voice seemed to flow so smoothly into Ray's keyboard and Robby's guitar and John's unorthadox technique or drums. When I listened to this song on acid, hash, and shrooms created an intense world that Jim created with his poetry. I sazw this whole song as if it were a movie in slow motion.
@tihsgnickuf That version isn't good, for obvious reasons, one being it's not as polished. I think they nailed it this recording and don't understand why it didn't make the LP, but that's just me.
When I first became interested in The Doors, I downloaded as many songs as I could find on YouTube. When I came across this one I only downloaded part 1 as I thought, because of its lesser popularity, it wouldn't be that good. Little did I know it would become my favorite song of all time.
My dad told me about this song. My old man's 53 you know, he went "You should get that song on the internet "The Celebration of the Lizard""; I said "Okay" then he added: "Smoke one or two joints before listenin' to it" hahaha
I mean, there's a reason why this was deemed unfit for release, it's rough. With more time they could have made it PERFECT, but as it stands it wasn't finished. I was a work-inprogress....the Not to Touch the Earth segment musically is obviously the most superior. It's a shame they couldn't get it just right, this would have been EPIC!
@aklemer15 man if you have a chance to do it and you know the acid is not some kind of weird shit from southern cambodia, then you should TOTALLY do it, but just be sure not to swallow something you really don't want to swallow cuz it can be fuckin dangerous.
@aklemer15 you could do that, or you could probably have a better time tearing your eyes out with a fork, and pouring lemon juice in your sockets. bad trip= not a fun time
@MoaiFilm I don't think so. He was at the end of his rope. In that June of 1971, it had all caught up with him. His drinking, the Miami trial, the feeling that he had lost all his energy and charisma. I really think it was just his time to die.
I blame Paul Rothchild for not taking the time in making it work...alot of books that I read about Jim, that after Lizard was scrapped, he took a attitude toward the Doors, that's why WFTS album was a crappy album aside from Solder, 5 to 1, and Hello...this album if Lizard was on it would have been a masterpiece and Rothchild made the Doors bubble gum....clearly a lost album in time.
Because they were originally going to release it as a whole side of Waiting for the Sun, but they didn't. They ended up only using the Not to Touch the Earth part.
I don't think this version of the song sounds better than the Absolutely Live/In Concert one, although a couple of minutes longer, but damn, this is awesome.
