  • good stuff

  • you can tell that this was recorded at the same studio that bleach by nirvana was recorded in. just listen to the drums.

  • @EvanTheKillerWolf Considering Jack Endino, Bleach's producer, was the guitar player for Skin Yard...

  • @mrphil108 Yup. thats what I was implying.

  • @EvanTheKillerWolf And I'd be remiss for not including that Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees) also played drums for Skin Yard.

  • keep grunge aliveeeee

  • I love skin yard because to me it sounds like dave wyndorf singing in soundgarden loud love era.

  • BADDASSERY! \m/

  • how come smaller grunge bands like my sister's machine and skin yard arent available on itunes?

  • GRUNGE

  • mother love bone what about them, they aren't in the big four, they weren't as big as these bands and are never mentioned in the big four, its like the big four of thrash metallica megadeth slayer and anthrax and then you have people saying what about testament and exodus, the big four is a just a bullshit terrm it just sounds good.

  • i listen to this song and headswill from this album almost daily:)

  • anyone aware this is a Skin Yard video?

    these comments confuse...

    cheers!

  • Oh, and one more thing. It's only my opinion, of course. But, Guns 'N' Roses, in their original line-up, would destroy 99% of the so-called cutting edge, tough, hard rocking bands that exist on this planet today. Appetite for Destruction is a masterpiece of stab your face, kill your neighbors rock and roll. But, don't take my word for it, listen to it yourself!

  • @mdgarmager nah

  • @jambii Thanks for weighing in on that, I am so much the better with the knowledge that you have such strong opinions on the subject. In a world where intelligent debate is an afterthought, or absent all together, you come along--a bright beacon of light for us all! Allow me to retype your glittering response, for I can hardly comprehend its majesty: "NAH". You are my personal god, jambii! "mecca lecca hi mecca hiney ho" to you good sir!

  • @mdgarmager hahaha. It's cute how serious some people take the internet... especially youtube. Bless.

That was quite a funny response, sir, I shall give you that my son!

  • Anything worth doing is worth doing right, methinks.

Glad I can make you laugh. Blessings to you as well.

  • @mdgarmager But was it REALLY worth doing?!

  • @jambii Well, I am on to new and better things right now, if that's what you are asking. Someday, every comment I have left on YouTube will be transcribed and published in a weighty tome entitled: "Right Back Atcha!: Worthwhile Comments from the Cyberspace Era". Mr. Jambii, in my world, just scratching my swollen nutsack is "REALLY worth doing". It takes some effort, it feels great, there are various smells involved, and some pervert may enjoy watching. It's fucking art, man!

  • @mdgarmager Nothin' like a good ol' scratch!

I shall buy that book sir, and I am certain it shall be a damn good read!

I bet ya get kids rattled up! I quite like your approach!

Me... I take the childish route with people... find it provokes a funnier reaction. Gotta love internet, right!

In the words of Uncle Fester.. GOMEZ!

  • Ha ha! Awesome! Thanks for the support!

I do love the internet, and a "childish route" is indeed a worthy approach. Down with the kids!

Yeah, I love the Addam's Family!

    Skol, my friend.

  • @mdgarmager

    Why thank you sir!

    Down some grog!

  • @mdgarmager matter of opinion about guns n roses.

  • Motley8oy is pretty sharp, methinks. I have been leaving comments with the same message on YouTube more often than I'd like. I wish the kids would read more often! If they did, they might know the history of the music they blindly worship and they wouldn't come off sounding like brainless turds. Indeed, none of the bands the media hyped as "grunge" sounded similar. Nor did they come from the same backgrounds. They certainly didn't listen to the same music growing up! "Grunge" was a media ...

  • ...crea-- actually, I wouldn't give the media that much credit. "Grunge" was a media illusion. Maybe two or three people that were part of the music scene in the Northwest coined the term "grunge". Then, a zine writer or two used the term, most likely for lack of a better one and because they were idiots. Then a certain band we all know signed to a major label, things exploded, and the media needed a name to sell more and more of the stuff to the mindless moron masses. TA-DA! GRUNGE!

  • Mudhoney: grunge! Melvins: grunge! Wipers: grunge! The fucking flannel jacket I wore because it was cold: grunge! Even back then, when I was a pretty clueless teenager, I saw through the marketing bullshit! The bands that were labeled "grunge" laughed about it. It was a sick joke. "Punk" was exactly the same thing, but 15 years earlier. The only term I am comfortable using for the bands I love is "rock and roll". It is a well established term and it has credence. Just like Jazz or Blues.

  • All the sub-genres of music drive me nuts, but even they help describe a certain sound. It's only when a term is abused and then adopted as some sort of sub-culture do I object. How can somebody be "grunge" or "punk"? What does a "punk" or "grunge" band sound like? Give me a break. It reminds me of those assholes that call any music with a horn section ska! What?! "Grunge" is a cute term and all, but it is abused and misused too often. Fuck labels, it is the individual band that matters anyway.

  • @mdgarmager punk didnt have that mettal edge and expiramental psyodelic kick theese bands do, pluss punk sings about hate and retards but grunge sings about pain and love.

  • @dragonhed123 Yeah, you're totally correct. Punk bands have never had a "mettal edge" and they certainly weren't "expiramental psyodelic". Punk is all about the hate and retards, that's why I have stopped listening to anything labeled punk and have instead started an outreach program for disabled viking math professors. Grunge is all encompassing love and one hell of a pain (in my swollen, inflamed chode). Did you hear that Eddie Vedder had a rib removed so that he could fellate a pencil...

  • @mdgarmager ...inserted into Kurt Loder's rectum?

  • @mdgarmager i think i just fell in love with you want to have sex?

  • @dragonhed123 Well, I would, but you don't have a vagina and those things are spectacular! Bumping our wieners together would just become tedious after a while--so counterproductive! Thanks for the offer though. Deuce-love right at you, Mr. Dragonhed!

  • lol whats wrong with g n'r, haven't you heard appetite for destruction.

  • nah, i wouldn't agree...it's all about the ideology...grunge just didn't care...

  • the big 4 of grunge nirvana, pearl jam, soundgarden and alice in chains sounded nothing like each other. Nirvana i'd say was the only grunge band from the lot sound and look wize. Alice In Chains were more metal even jerry says that listen to his guitar playing and solo's, pearl jam was alternative which is a crock of shit its called rock what fucking alternative, soundgarden was grunge but there sound changed as they got more popular more to you could say rock/metal. Its all rock anyway.

  • ew to guns and roses

  • @motley8oy what about mother love bone

  • @motley8oy its all drop D to Lee, Bruce or Sara?

  • sounds more like alice in chains than monster magnet

  • love SY..this song is just amazing=D

  • i have all the gruntruck and skinyard albums. Just saying it sounds more metal

  • they sound like monster magnet

  • GRUNGE RULEZ!

  • this sounds more like metal than pearl jam

  • Why is that a surprise? There was a lot of metal influence in "grunge" You should listen to Gruntruck a band that shot off from Skinyard.

  • Pearl Jam is on the mellow side of grunge but their style(clothing/behavior) is right on track with grunge but their genre is really one of its own if you had to put one on them i would put grunge but like i said it is their own

but skin yard sounds more garagy(dont know how to spell it) than grunge to me

  • theres no such thing as grunge man, thats a media invention. every seattle band sound totally different, thats why u cant compare them clearly. when I think of "grunge" I think image/behavior and geography, and of course 90s, not a music style

  • U must keep in mind that "grunge" is a word used by Mark Arm, and that if media put it in scene it was because of the forceful usage he gave it...

  • finally someone with some sense!

  • dude pearl jam is the best band of all time!

  • we need more bands like pearl jam and skin yard fuck all the hip hop shit and these fake ass rock bands.

    rock on bitches! lol

  • Pearl Jam is like an uncaffeinated, no sugar added, nursing home version of Skin Yard. They're related by geography, not really sound.

Even Pearl Jam's first few albums had the poppier sound when compared to grunge's bad boys. I love their first three albums, but c'mon, they don't sound a thing like Skin Yard!

Shame too, because Stone Gossard could be the next Cheetah Chrome if he found a band to play lead in.

  • Comment removed

  • i didn't say they sounded a like dumb ass i was just saying that there is nothing but shit music out now. 2000s suck dick.

Oh and Stone Gossard started the band so u dont know shit!.

He found the BAND he wants 2 be in.

Make sure u know what your talking about before u comment on something!!!

  • I'm a good fan of Pearl Jam. I don't care what you classify them as, it's the music i like and the gener falls in behind it.

but dead boys, you did a good job. It's nice to see someone who explains their opinions without swearing and have somesort of backing up statement.

in conclusion :D pearl jams good and skin yard owns! whats a good album of theirs?

  • Thanks!

Skin Yard's most critically acclaimed album was this one, 1000 Smiling Knuckles. But I also really like their first self-titled album, its a raw masterpiece imo (like Green River). Hallowed Ground is alright too.

  • @deadboys1010 im with you holmes. just cuz its from seattle doesnt mean theyre all the same, and when people compare pj and nirvana it doesnt make sense theyre totally different styles

  • R.I.P. Ben

  • Haha I just noticed his guitar says "SUB POP" :)

  • That's Jack Endino. He's given "recorded by" and/or "engineered by" credit on practically everything released on the SUBPOP label from 1987-the mid-to-late 1990's.

  • Wow this band is sick!

  • rochford95 is totally right but along wit those three the melvins to

  • the melvins and grunge?

  • Indeed

  • Skin Yard Soundgarden Green River started grunge off

  • thanx for posting this one dude !!!

    skin yard rocks!!!

  • cant believe i forgot i have this album laying aboubt somewhere!!i need kicked in the stones!

    AMAZING BAND/AMAZING ALBUM!!

  • Grunge basic:)

  • Wicked! You rock for posting this!

  • great band they should be more recognized

  • i agree 100%

  • Thanks for Posting. One of the Bands that never seemed to get noticed, I did and saw them at a tiny Club in Philly called Arch Strret Empire that lasted long enough to host Skin Yard for the 20 paying customers who appreciated one hell of a Band that played their hearts out!!!

  • muy buena esta banda
