i used to always see this game in every arcade I ever went to...but I never wanted to waste my 50 cents to play it...glad to see I made the right decision..
While often inaccurately perceived as a Mortal Kombat clone, Time Killers was actually in development at the same time as MK. So their similarities are the result of their being different reinterpretations of gameplay that existed in the genre prior to MK and even SFII, and not because Time Killers was a MK cash in. Fatal Fury 1, like Time Killers, may look like a rip-off (of SFII), but was also in development at the same time SFII was.
Unlike Mortal Kombat, Time Killers uses hand-drawn sprites and is completely weapon-based. Just like Samurai Shodown, but released about a year earlier. The earliest fighting game to have "death moves" was the gladiator mode of Great Swordsman, developed by Allumer (uncredited) and published by Taito.
Hey, I remember this game at the arcades! I used to use that Knight-looking guy, the funny thing about this game is that you can actually end the match in 3-4 seconds by just slicing the head off once the match starts.
I know. But this game was a piece of shit. I was traumatized as a kid because of playing this shit. And i used to play mortal kombat for hours. This game...it just made me feel bad. And getting killed by head decapitation and taking your whole quarter in 3 seconds was BULLSHIT!!! (panting.)
@WallyWadeMovies I used to play this at the bowling alley while my dad bowled, I was probably 7 or 8, I had no problem playing MK, but I was traumatized for some reason by THIS game. Getting an arm/leg/head chopped off and the accompanied sound effect haunted my dreams for months hahaha.... looking back, it's pretty campy, but still disturbing.

King Arthur: Victory is mine!
King Arthur: We thank thee, Lord, that in thy mercy -
Black Knight: Come on, then.
King Arthur: What?
Black Knight: Have at you!
King Arthur: You are indeed brave, Sir Knight, but the fight is mine!
Black Knight: Oh, had enough, eh?
King Arthur: Look, you stupid bastard. You've got no arms left!

you would think that this game would have a much worse reputation than MK, but I almost forgot all about it.

O gimme a break, this game was awesome, and definitely needs to be resurrected for 360 and PS3. It puts MK to shame.
