I like Gadd's playing but this time I'd say he fails reaching the mood of a Jazz tune. His playing sounds too hard and thick for this. Even the solo is a lil stiff. Reminds me of rock drummers trying to play jazz. =/
@bichomaldito I think thats just the shuffle along with Gadd heavy style. You know when listening to his swing and latin how solid and heavy it is, and I think it simply shows even more in a shuffle with that heavy 2 and 4. (that trashy ride sure does add some weight as well, am I right brother?)
eddie's bass has been cut and open.. i like when people play by choice an instrument that would be considered bad by majority. you can play well in any instrument if you feel confortable with it!
my cello had the arm broken twice and i think its awesome.
my flute is totally oxidated and has many colours, minus silver, and still, people who plays it love the sound, including me
for short, an expensive instrument doesnt make the musician better!
Jazzy Blues - Bluesy Jazz....one of the hippest genres ever. Jeez, I wish the corporate puppetmasters hadn't dumbed everything down so much. So many young people can only order what's on the menu and what's on the menu, mostly, is just overproduced, melodically-impoverished crap - and the poor crap-lappers don't know what they're missing.
@Antiks72 "With a name like Ack, you've gotta be good."
Haha, i gree. I say more-or-less the same thing about the Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu family. "With a sissy name like Gracie, you'd BETTER know how to fight..."
I enjoy Steve Gadd's pajamas... he's dressed ready for bed
dontdodo000, you're right. I was being too negaitve. Thanks for the correction. Just because I don't enjoy this song is no reason to go off like I did. Sorry 'bout that mate. I'll try my best to be more open-minded. Thanks! -Kirk
My middle school jazz band is doing this song. Usually in the melodie after the dotted quarer note, the eighth note is a fall...he doesn't do it. Well whatever. The only reason why we r playing this song is because are band teacher has a major in jazz in FIU. We are the best in the state of florida. Not to rub it in.....but maybe i am..
Best version of this song is Oscar Peterson with Dizzie Gillespie. Almost 14 minutes of music, slowed way down, like a blues jam. This isn't a bad version though.
Yeah, For sure the Double shuffle. Four on the floor and both hands playing shuffle. Better know has the TEXAS SHUFFLE. But Gadd can do whatever he wants!!!!!
he use very heavy stick s.he was destroyed many drums set..
hahaha. IT'S JOKE!

I don't think he's aiming at a clean jazz sound, more down and dirty drive, great dynamics too!
