simple way to get rid of the moo sound without actually trying to figure out ways to muffle or eliminate the noise..... get block off plates and delete the airpump altogether
@4x4Explorer thats what they call the "moo" sound. sounds like a cow. i can explain where the noise is coming from and how to get rid of it but i dont think anyone cares hahahha MOOOOOO!!!!!!
@4x4Explorer that sound comes from the air pump recirculating back into the engine. It the long steel braid hose connected to the top air filter. Normally its supposed to connect to the stock air box, but inside the air box is a partition. The air pump blows air into the stock air box, through a filter and vents to atmosphere. Its not supposed to reciculate back to the engine. The filter a bad design from Apexi.
the fix is to remove the hose and cap both ends. You need to drill holes in cap on the air pump so the air can be muffled and vented to atmosphere. Then viola! no more moo!!
@TrexGT40 this is a FD3S r1 model.....i completly removed everything in it and swapped a 2jz out of a 99 supra front clip from japan. Should have some videos up in a few weeks
@highboostfd3s Shame on u man........I can't seem 2 understand people that swap engines on such an amazing car like the FD RX-7..if u don't like the rotary engine with its advantages and disadvantages then go get another car but don't do that please on such a masterpiece of Japanese engineering................................
YESSS!!!! my mates got a 1993 rx7 all standard atm and we are swoping out the twins for single cuz its just a pain with the stock twins aka rats nest and boost problem :/
There's less lag to spool two smaller turbos than to spool one large turbo. Response is a bit more important when you're not driving in a straight line.
I dont even know.... i bet a turbo would pick this bitch up and give it a little more torque but i test drove a pretty nice gxl and i was severly dissapointed especially with low end torque. i bought a 3g eclipse gt instead.

@yoitsmearwyn I think it's not Apexi!
I have an RE Amemiya Air Filter and it does the same thing! We should replace the Air Pump!
In fact, it was doing this "moo" before installing the RE Amemiya Air Filter! since the OEM Air Box! :(

urm is it just me, but it looks like twin super chargers, distinctive red air intakes. no sign of a turbo, i must be blind:p

lol...no the turbos are located under the intake lol definitely not super charged...

@xcel08 its a rotary engine, that front part is what may be mistaked with a supercharger.

Tards a few under a rx7 has one small one and around 4k a pretty big
One actually kicks in and it's great for autox and street and one large turbo conversion is good for drag or street

the twins come stock

I thought RX-7s ran sequential turbos? where one would be used for low rpms and the other/both were used in the high rpms
Bikerxgames540 2 years ago
It's all preference, I would run duals, because I don't prefer racing in a straight line.

I wish I knew who gave me a thumbs down for just simply typing torque. I could've been talking about my torque wrench..

thumbs down again.....

Thumbs down for you too.. I think I originally got a thumbs down because I said torque, and this engine has none of it.
