  • I bet they half the kids in this commercial haven't even seen the breakfast club.

  • I'll never forget the first time I saw this. I was at the opening night screening of The Dark Knight and this was playing before the previews started. Everyone in the theater got either excited or appalled thinking it was a Breakfast Club remake trailer. Then when the JC Penney logo showed up everyone immediately started booing. It's the only time at a theater I've seen popcorn thrown at the screen.

  • WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS? lol

  • My mom came into my room...so I switched the tab to porn because it would be easier to explain.

  • who buthered this beautiful tune? why????????????

  • That bitch wearing the pink Nirvana shirt probably doesn't even know the band whatsoever

  • This was excruciating to watch. John Hughes is rolling in his grave....

  • Comment removed

  • I don't think JC Penny needs to dress these FUCKIN' DILDOS anymore.

  • Weird I don't remember Bender trying to be a skater faggot he was the rebel not the kid that tryed to fit in. Why would they do this. An insult considering the death of John Hughes

  • Awful. Just... awful.

  • D< Do not want.

  • Claire Dance = FAIL.

0:49 LOL, look how small the girl in the pink dress is!

Well, if nothing else, it will introduce this generation to The Breakfast Club?

  • FAIL. Just look at that wannabe Bender putting his feet on the table like he's a badass. The basis of this movie just doesn't mix with the JCPenney vibe. Also, New Found Glory sucks monkey chode. Terrible fucking cover.

  • I hope and pray those corrupt money grubbing sleazy Hollywood producers do not fuck up The Breakfast Club with a remake. Leave the classics alone. They already ruined The Karate Kid. Fuck Hollywood!!!

  • This just shows how much a remake would suck.

  • haha!love it:)

  • skater =/= bender

  • So exactly *who* is this rapefest supposed to appeal to? Look, everybody! Pretty kids in their pretty clothes are... in school! And they're dancing and putting on makeup and eating candy! WHEEEEEEE!

You might as *$&%ing well just redo "Raging Bull," but this time make it in color and Jake LaMotta is played by that Tyler Loopner douche from "Twilight" and he wins the fight and gets the girl. Did the twenty-something year old soulless whore who made this commercial even watch the frigging movie?

  • @DiggoryPoopgrunt I doubt they did. Man i wish The Breakfast Club was real so one of us could call Bender, Andrew, Claire, Brian, and Allison and tell them to go down there and show those poser what the real Breakfast Club is made of.

  • i loved this ad!

  • All of the scenes are from the movie..

    those cheap asses...

  • it would be alot better if allison wasn't in pink and there were just 5 kids. but i like the fact they put a few black people in there.

  • lol

  • Whats the name of the band singing this version?

  • They ruined my favorite movie

  • I like how they throw in a couple of black people.

  • Just Ugh

  • Does anyone else think that this is both hitting the mark perfectly and completely missing it at the same time? I mean it's supposed to appeal to the High School youth (who are too young to appreciate the reference and importance, and therefore misses entirely) and at the same it it really hits with the nostalgia for the people actually BUY the clothes, i.e. the parent who were kids when the movie came out and so hits perfectly? Weird. It seems to miss so badly and hit so well.

  • WHy the fuck was this made? And how could anyone turn Bender into a fucking skater?

  • EXACTLY!!! BENDER IS NOT A SKATER...HE IS A REBEL!!!!! omg they ruined it!

  • I hate how this generations 'rebels' are skaters and emos. The pussiest of rebels. I mean fuck 50's Greasers would destroy them. Bender could take them all on by himself and still win.

  • I AGREE! i bet bender could take em' all! you want a rebel just look up john bender from the breakfast club! THE BREAKFAST CLUB IS THE BEST MOVIE EVERRRR!!

  • this commercial ruined the movie..! :(

  • i know it did...i think that JC Penny...should be like destroyed...THEY RUINED THE BREAKFAST CLUB! but no matter wut any one does..The Breakfast Club will all ways RULE!

  • @13ilovethe80s If The Breakfast Club will always rule (which it will), then how did this commercial ruin it? That doesn't make sense.

  • @mitchmcmichael Na, man. That's just what JCPenney wants you to think. There are still pretty badass people out there, you're just not going to find them in a shitty JCPenney commercial.

  • noooooooo!!!!!!! why the fuck would they do this? that commercial did not do the breakfast club justice! goddamnit!

  • Yeah, I'm gonna go stick my head in an oven now. Jesus, this is fookin' awful. Do we HAVE to make a shitty homage to every everything related to 80's pop culture? This is just insulting. Is that a freakin' Nirvana shirt? If Kurt were alive, he'd shoot himself again, after seeing this.

  • It's a commercial, get over yourself.

  • i tought there where only 5 kids in the breakfeast club not a wohle gang

  • isn't that Lucas Til with the red shirt in 0:13? it looks like him.

  • Comment removed

  • that was the greatest movie of all time (in mt opinion) and that commercial did NOT do it justice at all. It would have been a little better if they would have at least kept the original song...

  • makes me want to shoot myself SO FUCKING BAD.

  • i like this commercial. whats the name of this song?

  • A crummy commercial??

    (from A Christmas Story)

  • gay as hell....disgrace

  • >_>... Wow.. You people are getting all worked up... over a commercial... saying "Fuck this commercial" etc. Well we can obviously see who are the ones here who need a good fuckin'. XD

    Losers.

  • who ever mad dis commersial should die in a fucken fire

  • jeez jose. why so mad?

  • cause i like this movie and it like a parody gone on crack well its just stupid

  • FOR ANYONE WHO LIKES THIS COMMERCIAL...your a fail..

    this is fucking horrible

  • this commercial pisses me off whats the next movie ther gonna ruin wit a stupid advertisment use ur imagination not someone else's

  • i actually just watched the breakfast club- i gotta say, best commercial made that was actually based on a movie

  • JC Penney thinks it's awesome but it's really overrated.

  • HORRIBLE!

  • I LOVE THIS:)

    so much...

it reminds me of me and my friends... I LOVE THIS COMMERCIAL.

i don't care WHAT anyone says...

it means something to me though

  • ahhh man, why did they have to make such a crappy commercial :( breakfast club is a great movie but this com just sucked!

  • Can anyone tell me where this was filmed, i would really appreciate it.. its not the same school as in the actual movie. i know that much

  • you killed the breakfast club jc penny and macy's you murdered Foleys the original 10 story foley's in downtown houston just had the name plate changed to macys it has not changed for 60 years till now

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

  • wasnt their only 5 kids?

  • I dont remember black people in the movie D:

  • HAHA!! I never thought I'd forget about this!!

  • HUGE FAIL, so fucking horrible, fuck you jc penny.

  • They really did fail this i mean I don't get it :S.... it looks like there's 2 Claire's and 2 Allison's. weiiiird

  • dont blame the movie or the commericial i blame the clothes

  • totally killed the breakfast club why is allison in pink?

  • cause she's a thug

  • you killed my memories jc penny and macy's you stole my memories of Foley's Foley's was my favorite store

  • great ad, i love it

  • Yeah, a good IDEA I guess, but they kinda ruined it. Or maybe it was just the tacky clothes, haha. :P

  • I hate this.

  • Okay. This is just terrible. The one guy doesn't act like a criminal. And why the fuck is Claire black and holding a dog? And Allison is wearing pink. This is just pathetic.

  • The reason Allison is wearing pink is because people like Allison wouldn't shop there in the first place. :P

  • Stupid commercial. they used the same filming location

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHHH they killed the Breakfast Club! Why JC Penny, WHY?!?!?!!??!?!?! :{

  • I saw this commercial at the cinema and started spazing out, mostly because Allison was wearing a pink dress

  • this is the worst piece of garbage i have ever seen. fuck jcpenny for ruining a classic

  • What is that?? A new breakfast club??

  • epic fail ftw!!!!

  • wow that was really really stupid. Why would you copy a commercial after a movie?

  • totally retarded

  • Oh whatever to the people that like this garbage commercial. I wasn't a teen in the 80's i was born in 1987. And i know well enough that JC Penny took a great movie to commercialize and sell there shit. And i don't care if it appeals to teens now, this movie is suppose to be a classic, something that shouldn't be remade or redone, something you shouldn't even touch.

  • That was horrible. They butchered everything, even the song. The point of the movie was to put a bunch of people who are from different cliques together. Not a bunch of Jc penny's people. I love this movie, how could they do this to it.

  • isnt one of the guys in this commercial Lucas Grabeel from High School Musical?

  • what song is this who is this one by

  • "Don't You Forget About Me" by Simple Minds. Look up the original release of the song, it still hold its own today.

  • New Found Glory - Don't You Forget About Me

  • why...are there six of them

  • Boycott J.C. Penny's unless your wife is like mine and she's a consumerist who doesn't care about politics, Art, Nostalgia, corporatism or ect. Then unless you want to have a big fight with her you have to go and buy from the bastards. However I still hate this commercial for what it does to my song, and my movie from when I was in the 10th grade, and just starting to think about the future of when I actually got there I'd be wanting to go back to my past.

  • Someone said in an article that this was supposed to appeal to today's teens, which it does to an extent, however if you consider that the Breakfast Club debuted in 1985, its the parents of today's teens its really directed at more so.

  • I find it funny that people are bashing this, It's not a remake of the breakfast club, It's a modern version of it. Taking whats popular now and throwing in some 80's references from the movie. I found it clever and cool, and the song wasn't half bad, considering that the original wasn't that great either. As for not seeing this movie. I watched it in High school, and many of my friends have also seen it. In fact I find it terrible that everyone thinks people only watch "new" movies.

  • You know, to be honest with you... I actually really like this version. It is actually the best cover that I have heard.

  • Wow! SO ORIGINAL

  • i'm really sick of all the comments saying that teens today won't get this, i'm only 14 and i know lots of people who have seen the breakfast club, saying like kids haven't seen it, is like saying we haven't seen the wizard of oz!

  • Pimple faced teenie bopers? Thanks for making us adults sound so mature.

  • Hey, he's attacking a 14 year old...on YouTube. Doesn't get much more lonely than that.

  • Seriously? Kids don't understand introspection? Come on. Cut him/her some slack. Since when do you have to be old in order to understand anything?

  • saying we dont understand the message is very stupid, the idea of it anyway. apparently you dont have teenagers of your own, those issues are as present today as they were then and is one of the things in history that is likely to never change, no matter who grows out of it.

  • monumentally stupid ad

  • agreed

  • Let me just say this, the people from the breakfast club likely wouldn't go to JC Penny, so I don't get who they are advertising too.

  • truly abysmal cover of an excellent song.

    JCPenny's sucks.

  • haha lol

  • the song is dont you (forget about me) by simple minds its a breakfast club reference that movie rocks

  • whats this song called

  • dont u froget about me

  • I work there and I think this video is lame. The majority of people I see shop there are old anyways. I rarely see people my age (21+) shopping there. The movie came out like 23 years ago. This ad was hardly like it. If they made the kids look even remotely 80's or like one of the cast members then I might have got the reference. I honestly think Penneys is trying a bit to hard. If a lot of people don't get it, then what's the point?

  • it annoys me how parents expect kids to be so ignorant. I've heard them say, "This commercial is stupid, no kids will get it". I'm 13 and I've seen the breakfast club a million times, just because I'm not a child of the 80's doesn't mean I'd miss such a huge fad. Kids that havn't heard of it obviously don't get out much. (BTW this commercial was kind of smart, SOO much buisness for JC Penny, I wonder if they filmed in the same location the real movie was filmed)

  • There's something deeper here though. The Breakfast Club was Art. J.C. Penny is a capitalist, and they found a way to capitalize. These are the same people who a few years back called the Border Patrol, or the police who then called the Border Patrol on a Mexican family who was trying to return some pants. Exploiting the Breakfast Club is just the cherry on top. Look at all the other rotteness underneath as well.

  • omfg they fucking killed the breakfast club there were 5 teens not 8 and this was a waste of my time. GO ORIGINAL BREAKFAST CLUB!

  • i just got the nirvana shirt today!!!! i fliped out when i saw it

  • stupid

  • why are people taking this as any more than a commercilal?

lol jcpenney had no intention of doing "justice" to the movie in a one minute commercial, nor should they have. They wasnt to sell clothes o teenagers and the breakfast club was an idea. i dont think they expected kids to know what the breakfast club is.

  • Funny... I didn't know teenagers around this time and day (excluding myself) would even GET this reference.

    Oh... and it's shit anyway.

    NEVER AGAIN.

...it's almost as bad as what they're doing the the Rocky Horror Picture Show.... WHY MTV? WHY?!

  • I was 15 when TBC came out. This commercial actually managed to bastardize an already craptacular movie. Trying to appeal to my generation? Nope, missed! My 16 y/o has never watched the movie. The only reference point she has for JCPenney is the 1978 version of Dawn of the Dead. New commercial: Get chased by the living undead, but stay stylish in your unremarkable JCPenney duds. "Nothing says back-to-school zombie like JCPenney." Appeals to Gen-X and offspring alike! The song? No. Bad. Stinks.

  • Lets hope they buried whoever made this where they can never be found.

  • It actually is New Found Glory. It's mentioned on there website.

  • "Chicks can't hold dey smoke. Dat's what it iz."

  • Okay i saw this at the movies, then i was like "OH GOD A BREAKFAST CLUB REMAKE" then i saw the jcpenny ad then i was like "thank god" i would seriously cut myself if they made this into a remake. but i respect them for making it a commercial though! hee hee

  • UGH. What a fucking way to highly commercialize a good movie like The Breakfast Club.

    Full of fail

  • FUCK THIS FUCKING COMMERCIAL.

  • FAAAAAAAAIL.

  • Very cute commercial...I love it! The Breakfast Club is one of my most favorite movies EVER...brought back so many memories for this boomer!

  • i can't help watching this commercial it's cute

  • I bet the only reason these kids actually watched the breakfast club, was because they were going to be in the commercial. ughh i hate this. the breakfast club is an amazing movie. my favorite by far. They don't even have any right to touch it.

Who the heck is singing the remake of this song? I actually kind of like it. But that's about all I do like.

  • hee hee and ferris bullers day off! XD

  • This is evil and horrid and stupid. Thumbs down to you, JCfuckingidiots.

  • one of the worst. commercials. ever.

alice you are a tool. i was born 87 but you don't hear me going around saying i knew what was going on. we weren't even fully conscious.

this commercial is just so stupid i can't get my head around it. its just like all the commercials that use rolling stones songs.

its so bad because the "club" is such a good movie.

plus the scene were they are all dancing is when they all get stoned.

so JC penny is encouraging drugs! rofl

  • This ad sucks. Fuck JC Penny.

  • Have these kids even seen "The Breakfast Club"?

  • You can't take it as more than a flipping commercial. It's just a little thing to make you feel good and remember your childhood. I'm 19 and I was so excited to hear I was going to be in a commercial that was a remake of the Breakfast Club. I love that movie, and I was born in '88. Stop with the hatred, there's no point to it. PS: Did you David LaChapelle directed it?

  • No, No JCPenny! Bad on you! I wasn't born in the 80s but that was the greatest movie! You just made it scarmbel in my mind. I will love that movie forever!

  • Who did the remake of the song for this commercial?

  • Some douche

  • this freaked me out when i heard the commercial on tv. i am a huge fan of the breakfast club and it makes me sad to see this commercial all the time. i don't like it.

  • jeez what's with all the hate? i'm not really OFFICIALLY an 80's baby (born in 89) but this commercial is not so bad.

you can't keep everything original. original is original. they just made a remake and i love it.

  • Yes I can tell you don't have the emotional attachment. No nostalgic connection here for you. To be an 80s babys you have to have been born in the 60s. Nothing worse than the corporate animal attacking prey that is weak because of an experied copyright, and feeding on it while it's still breathing.

  • dude its a commercial and a movie....

    not a dying animal lol

  • J.C. Penny is coporate and racist. Don't expect any better of them, because the dollar is their GOD. All the profits they rake in by getting their clothes from undocumented labor(if the sweatshop slaves unionize they call ICE on them), is part of that rotteness I'm talking about. When your GOD is the dollar, then Art has a price, and nostalgia is a sentimentality that's too expensive.

  • Eloquently put, and you make a point. But... this company doesn't even make the top 100 offenders in that respect. This is a global issue and you may have to go naked or make your own clothes to protest, I think. The dollar is just a thing of value and an actionable national interest. Your argument is valid, but a lonely one.

  • Ya...

Breakfast club is one of the best movies imho of all time for what it was.

JC Penny is a overpriced piece of shit store that sells sweatshop clothes for ridiculous prices. And now they have to insult a good movie by trying to copy its popularity to sell clothes. Its crap man just crap.

Don't they have any original thoughts to peddle there garbage?

  • does anyone know who sings this song? can i download the full version somewhere if there is one?

  • It sounds exactly like the version by the band "New Found Glory".

  • AAAAAAAAAAAaaaahhhHHHHH!

    This is absolute LUDICROUS!

    I'm furious...and oh so insulted.

  • Why does everyone look the same!? They're just a bunch of stupid jocks and preps! Where's Allison? Where's Brian and Andrew!?

  • the only stupid thing is that theres like a shit load of kids in the library. in the movie theres only like 5

  • lmfao, guy humpin god damn statue

  • worst commercial ever, it disgraces breakfast club and all of the rest of the brat pack films. everything about it is wrong.

the Billy Idol cover isnt bad though, simple minds are a good band

  • i love that movie! So this commercial is amazing to me

  • I'm personally offended by the fact that kids dress like this nowadays. It's completely sloppy and shows no class and respect.

  • Welcome to this century.

Now you know how the parents of the 80's felt

    .

    History repeats itself.

  • this version is better the real version sucks!?!

  • OH FUCK YOU JC PENNY. This is a fucking disgrace.

And on top of it all, they had to ruin "Don't You Forget About Me".

I'm a teen and I am fucking ashamed of this shit.

  • what band did the remake of this song???

  • simple minds

  • the band that did it for the commercail is Hawk Nelson...I know that voice more than anything...Jason...

  • ...

    urgh, that was wretched!

  • i just saw this movie yesterday haha lol

  • who sings this version of the song

  • New Found Glory. They did it for their "From The Screen to Your Stereo 2" album

  • I wanna beat the fuck out of those assholes for messing it up!! All the kids are dressed like obnoxious preps! The whole movie was about diversity and coming together, but in the commercial they all dress alike!

Fuck that shit. Fuck JC Penny too.

  • They made it better.

It's about d-i-v-e-r-s-i-t-y. Not about a bunch of white kids like the original.

  • How this diverse? They are all dressed the same. lol

  • UKRoyals. Better? LoL hell why not just redo it and make it like highschool shitsachool. More boxed bullshit catered to the braindead who want to see the same thing over and over again.

No black people so what it was the 80's and the story was not racist so what does it matter?

This video had no canadians or iraqi's, native american's aren't you offended? No? Bah stupid stupid stupid.

I'm not trying to go off on you but TBC is a treasured movie icon and this was in poor taste to sell clothes.

  • this is sad

  • what song is that?

  • Upset over this commercial? So are we! Join our Facebook group: "JC Penney: The Breakfast Club IS NOT a Back-to-School Sale Special"

  • haha some ppl dont have lives

  • This is an insulting and offensive rip off. Everyone in this pathetic "tribute" looks exactly the same. Where's the individuality that the original movie depicted?! Where's the nerd? Where's the criminal? Where's the psychotic art girl? They all look interchangeably bland to me. Homogeneous drivel. The cover song makes me want to shove ice picks in my ears.

  • Great commercial, but the sad thing is that most kids today probably won't even understand it.

  • I'm sick of people saying this! I'm in the age range this is targeted at and I get it completely, please don't sell us too short. :\

  • This commercial was cool up until JC Penney plastered its logo feces across the whole screen. I grew up with TBC movie, I have it on DVD, and I watch it once or twice a year. If they made a remake of that film, I would go to see it. However, the characters would need to be played by actors who resemble the original breakfast club. The modern cover of the theme song can stay, though. I do agree with Rivelution: the characters looked far too flamboyant; one rich kid is all you need.
