The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing this work as well as Colina's The Unbearable Lightness of Being and Three Cabinets of Wonder with Anastasia Khitruk (violin) on 29 Nov. 2011 at Cadogan Hall in London at 19.30 - I'll be there!
I am not into classical music at all but over 10 years ago my flatmate played this in our room and ended up buying the record. The music is absolutely fantastic but reminds me of difficult time in my life and Polish history too. The song is based on prayer curved by 17 years old girl on to the wall of the Gestapo prison cell in Zakopane during WWII.
Just once in a very blue moon you come across a piece of music that practically leaves you speechless. Now that I have stopped crying (i'm a 49 year old male with 2 children) I am able to comment reasonable about this music. My musical tastes range from rock to jazz to reggae to r&b, but never has a piece of music so touched the very depths of my soul dredging up so much emotion. The composer was a genius and Dawn just about puts the icing on the cake for me. I remain spellbound.
I have this piece performed by the Czecho-Slovak Radio Orchestra that always gives me chills, the singer's voice is exquisite and her Polish is beautiful
This is the first piece of music I heard (and for the first time) after it was announced on the radio station that dear Meredith Hope Emerson was found. I cried and cried because we hoped so big and prayed so much. I listen to it now and think of her and cry for her. My heart and soul tells me she is in a loving place.
I first heard this piece on classic FM when revising for an exam late into the night in the attic in my first year at university. It played in the background and I gradually became aware of the song's presence. I lifted my head from my work, got up from the desk, turned the radio up and listened intently. Then I wept like a child. Few pieces of music have ever effected me so deeply, so unexpectedly.
I have just heard this on the radio and I was moved to tears. Sometimes it takes this kind of musical genius to remind us how small we are. Thank you.
@senatormari How thankful I am and how privileged to feel such emotion through the gift of a great composer. We are truly alive who can feel the presence of Soul.
Never heard this before.Unbelievable.

@annysvan I just heard it on the radio today as well! It completely captured my attention. The emotion in this entire symphony is so heart wrenching.
