  • Check out My playlist. It's a soundtrack I compiled of some of the songs from DoDG

  • this is my favorite scene!

  • i love this show,i think i have seen it at least 2 times and fell in love with it.I love how they made an irish legend come to life just by dancing, its so beautifull and i wish they made more shows like this one,i have to find it on dvd and buy it,its in my all time favorite dancing movie list :-)

  • Jean Butler is taller than almost anyone! How tall is she???

But I have the same problem....

  • @IvliaC she is very litlle in real life)

  • I am in love with her hair! I've been watching these Dancing on Dangerous Ground videos and I'm starting to think that I like this more than Riverdance. Or I at least like them equally. Riverdance is so classic, but this is so... innovative.

  • I really dont understand this show- can someone please explain the storyline?!

  • Grannia (played by Jean Butler) is engaged to marry Finn MacCool, High King of Ireland. She arrives at his court a few days before the wedding, as Finn's captain of the guard, Diarmuid (Colin Dunne) drills the army. As preparations for the wedding continue, Diarmuid and Grannia meet and begin to fall in love. The wedding goes on as planned, but Grannia no longer wants to be queen, and she begins to loath Finn. So she and her handmaindens drug the court, and she escapes with Diarmuid. Cont.

  • As they flee into the Irish forests, the court (also called the Fianna) awaken and Finn commands them to pursue the lovers. Diarmuid and Grannia are seperated in the chase, and the Fianna surround Diarmuid and kill him. Grannia refused to accompany Finn back to the court, and she wastes away in the forests. Finn continues to rule, an old and lonely man, and Diarmuid and Grannia, though dead, live on forever in their own legend. Hope that helps :)

  • Wow thanks that helps a lot :)

  • In this scene, Grania and the other ladies help together making a sleeping drug and give it (of course) to the men and especially Finn. Why? Because Grania loves more Diarmud than Finn to whom she happens to be here already married.

  • now this is what i call classic and chilling irish dancing! :D

the music is just hypnotizing and that undertone to it...simply WOW it makes you feel the evil part in the story.

And Jean...she's the classy 'femme fatale' in this role and it suits her extremely...the way she holds the cup and entices her husband to drink is just very convincing

  • I absolutely agree :) That's why I think Jean's a wonderful dancer, it's not just the steps, it's the conviction of a good performer.

(Also, costumes and makeup are great! I like their choice of background, although wasn't fond of the more industrial sets in the show. but I guess I can't have everything! lol).

  • I love this scene! Beautifully choreographed

  • exactly my thought :)

  • my thought too! Very classy and modern, a step well above the flately shows. This is real dance.

  • I like this dance too, because it kinda has an Egyptian or middle eastern undertone to it.Very unique and creative.

  • I just completely love this show! Especially this dance!!

  • just WOW

  • This scene is so amazing! Jean is so icy cold and conniving here--fantastic!! But, couldn't she just have told Finn to shove off? LOL!

  • I wish they made a music cd of this show!!!

  • I love Jean's dress in this.

  • I know! All of her costumes in this production are so gorgeous!

  • I can't stop watching this!

  • I love the music for this dance!

  • yeah im slow and i havent seen the show so can someone tell me whats going on?!?1?

  • Jean Butler is playing Grania, and Colin Dunne Diarmuid. Grania is engaged to a much older man, named Finn McCool in the production (his name is Fionn in the myth). Meanwhile, Grania has fallen in love with the captain of Finn's army, Diarmuid, and he with her. The scene here shows the wedding of Finn and Grania, where, in order to escape with her love, she and the women of the court drug the men with a sleeping potion. Grania and Diarmuid slip into the woods.

  • Finn and his men wake up bound. They free themselves, and Finn, enraged, sends the guardsmen and the ladies into the woods to find the lovers. During the couples flight, they become seperated. The Fianna (Finns army) catch up with Diarmuid, and kill him. Grania, finding the body of her love, slips into a deep grief, and withers away. At the end of the prduction, we see Grania awaken, surrounded by the ghostly figures seen in the prologue. Diarmuid is among them, and the couple are reunited.
