Amazing setup. Only gripe is this video isn't two hours long. So the boiler runs on propane, but the solar pre-heats the water? In other words, the boiler is not dual fuel (can run on Elec and Propane). So if solar is ample, then you don't need to burn propane, only run the elec pump to circulate the solar heated water. Hope I got this right. Brilliant system.
Nice installation but it sure is expensive for a second/weekend home. Propane is available and could provide hot water and lights if hooked up. Most people in the Adirondacks like wood stoves and can heat their houses with wood alone.
It was much less expensive than that. In addition, this is a second home. Wood stove is high maintainance. If a primary residence, that option would have been considered.
As for generator, no it does not run often. The key is design. Knowing the loads and frequency of demand and storage.
Batteries are deep cycling and longlife. Still much less expensive than paying $100,000 to bring electric to home.
@TITANPOWERSYSTEMS I will be moving to Uruguay where the energy run on 220 watts, I would like to know how many panels do I need to provide energy to a home of 4 rooms, 1 bathroom, 1 kitchen and porch... I would have 3 tv's, washer and dryer, dishwasher and central air condition... I would appreciate any suggestion or commets
been installing these systems for 35 years now,and that set-up in this video installed is $95,000.00 and is "not" cheap to service,,,a wood stove is "much" cheaper
They must run the generator close to 24x7 no way that huge house can be powered with so few PV panels, the largest 48v MagnaSine is 4.4KW so usage must be minimal. The thermal solar should work well in the summer but no in winter, you can't even see shadows in the video outside which means no usable sun from a practical perspective. Good summer design but I'm sure more than a weekend use in winter would not work well. Great concept though.
I'm in the deep south in Texas and am curious about how to build this kind of system as a stand alone...totally off grid on a cabin or small ranch house. With summer lasting 7-9 months here ( lol ) there's no way we could do without A/C and refridgeration. Do you know what the cost per sq ft turns out to be on average? Thanks for your video! Very cool system.
Not a great battery bill. Batteries are deep cycling and long life with our waveform/power factor correction equipment on the system. Cost of the system was only a portion of what the cost the client would have paid to just get electricity to the location.
GREAT VIDEO!

Why not use sun trackers they will help out a lot on that generator and give several more hours of full sun power
