im 5'6'' 130lbs and looking into buying my first bike. i would say i have beginner going on intermediate experience riding. what would be better for me? a crf150r or kx250f? the other day i sat on a kx250f and i felt comfortable on it, but not like i would really be whipping it around, you know? so which would be better for me? because in several months i would probably have no trouble on a 250 depending on how much riding i get in, but im not for sure on that

2 Strokes are easy to work on due to the simple build, The only difference is 4 strokes have valves really...

and like change around there.

ur from the uk i dont know how ur school program is there but in sweden u go 1-5, 6-9 and then 1-3, im 16years and going my 1st year in engine mechanics so changing valves and all that will not be a probrem but i was just woundering whit the mapping off the engine :)

Well the only way to "connect the bike to the computer" is to get your ECU re-programmed, You won't be able to do it yourself and it will be hard to find a good place to get it done in sweden...

And it isn't really changing the valves that is the problem, It is cutting the valve seats... A new mechanic will find it hard to do it correctly...

so if i get it right u can do it ;)

Yes, "pre-set" maps, Anybody can do it...

It would also be a waste of money, You can send the ecu to a race company and they will re-program it for you much cheaper and you get some of the best work you can that way,,,

Don't expect to be able to build a map yourself...

so im gonna read on about mapping and all that and ye sure if i do one its not gonna be good in the start but sure u get better and better whit the time :)

i think its worth the money i havent look at the price yep becouse im not getting a kx250f this year or even maby next but when i do i gonna get it if its good price :)

Well if you get a map wrong it could mean a blown up engine, If you really want to make maps and program ECU's then thats great... But it takes great skill to do and could cost a lot if it goes wrong...

And when all the big racing companys have maps why would you want to create one anyway ? There the best in the business, And they are the ones you should want...

But how can you say you want a new map if you dont own a bike ?

i own a Rm 125cc right now but i would really love to buy a kx250f 2011 or the 12 ye sure i cant say i would need a new map but i wanna lern how and if i would want more power on the low rpm´s i could just change it by myself u know and not send it away to a company :)

No this does not mean anything about the speed of the bike? Besides this does not matter because the rider is what makes the speed but this is obviously not true because yamaha has always known to be the slowest and kawi honda at the top.

I have rode one, talk about sick pull and it doesnt have that 4 stroke bog that some 250f's do. Bike was on my ass when i was on my 09 ktm 125 but on the strait aways i was gone. but i give this bike a 9/10 but my friend that owns this 11 kawi has had his chain snaped (shitty chain) and his gear shifter that seal blew or somthing and all his oil leaked out in a matter of 3-4 days
