  • I am a 5 and I have troubles hitting my casts to horozontal:P!! Any tips:)?

  • PERFECT!!!!!!

  • is bay city in fl

  • Comment removed

  • Great job! I just have one tip to get an even higher score. I'm a level 5 gymnast and my coach is a judge. She told all of the level fives that there can be up to a .8 deduction on EACH tap swing if you don't change body positions from hallow, to arch, then to a straight body.

  • I need ALOT of help on my jump to high bar. my coach says that im jumping towards the bar not down where i can get my momentum. PLEASE HELP!!!

  • I was wondering was she just SUPER TALL or were those bars really small, low and close set?

  • i have a level 5 gymnastic meet on dis couming up friday it the first one this season but its not my first meet ever but im still nervious

  • My team won level 5 states now I am level 7 . You r doing great. Keep it up! :)

  • im a level 7 and when i was level 5 my coach had us doing cast handstands... i know it isnt required but to make your routine perfffect it would help adding that... but reallly pretty(:

  • That was really good!!!!!! I wish my level 5 routine turns out like hers!

  • wow that was good... im working on squat ons for bars... any tips?

  • @emilee571 Sure, when you do a squat on, make sure that you are actually casting into it (start a BIG cast, and on the way up, put your feet on the bar). Be sure to lift your hands quickly because you will lean back too much if you leave your hands on the bar after your feet are on. It is important that your shoulders stay leaning over the bar! My gymnasts also do a lot of them in a floor bar, starting from a pushup position. :-) Hope this helps!

  • @emilee571 thanks :)

  • @emilee571 squat ons are easy once you get them, most of the time people don't do a big enough cast so they can't do there squad ons. you can also get tape or a little bar of some sort and keep your knees together and jump on and off of the bar.

p.s. the bar is on the ground not in the air.

  • @countrybeautystar07 ya i got mine a couple months ago now. and a drill i did was putting a bar atop 2 spotting boxes and jumping on the bar to practice balance. works really well xx

  • ummmm ... thats not the "best" i got a 9. 775 at a state meet on bars sooo ...

  • @mallgymstar I will say this again... this routine was HER BEST, and it is a great routine. I'd love to see one of your routines. Can you post? That sounds like a great score.

  • nicee wayyyyyyy betterr thann anyonee onn myy teamm...

  • @couchyface1 when your in artistic everyone has the same routine for every event up until level 7

  • iv seen better....

  • @gymscocceraholic I'm sure there are people out there who can do better, but that doesn't mean that she doesn't deserve props for doing such a good routine. When I titled it "best," I meant "her best." :-)

  • Wow I saw this same routine for bars three times, does everyone have to do this in level 5??

  • GREAT ROUTINE!! the funny thing is I scored a 9.5 on my level 5 bar routine this last weekend at a meet... :) AWESOME JOB!!

  • I am so nervous! I have a level 5 meet next weekend!! I am just scared 'cause, what if every girl there is going to be THIS great!? lol.

Very nice. I should show this to my coach. :)

  • @BuiltForGymnastics I am late responding to your comment, but I hope your season ended up being great! I'm sure you figured out by now that there are some girls this good out there, but they are not all this good. :-)

  • is this gym in chorpus christi i think i had a meet at this gym in the past?? :)

  • @stargonz No, our gym is located in Riverview, FL.

  • That was really good. I am going to compete level 5 this season!

  • it looks like the landing was a little off cause you were about to take a step but that was the best routine ive ever seen i wish my level 5 routine on bars was that good! :D

  • youre really good! I just can do the level 4 bar routine ! :P

  • She is a great bar worker =)

  • that's a good routine it looks almost perfect

  • how old?

  • This is great!

  • What country r u guys in because i'm from New Zealand and it would be really weird to compete something like that here!

  • AMAZING!!

  • omg your so gud!!

  • awsome

im a level 5 my self

and i suck compared to you!

    good job!

  • i have seen better

  • Im a level 5 also and watching you has really helped me learn what the routine should look like

    thankyou

  • Thanks for all the nice comments, Everyone! She knows she is pikey on tap swings, but she worked really hard to get this good, and also, this was over 2 years ago! She's much better now, and she's in level 7! :)

  • if you were to not pike so much on your tap swings you could get about a 9.7 or 9.8

  • EVERYTHING WAS AMAZIGN!! except the piked taped swings and last hand on dismount...

  • This routine is awesome! GREAT connection and GREAT horizontal casts

  • Wow nice! I'm 12 and just finishing up level 5 but I'm not as good as you!

  • i love doin kips!!!!! i ust learned how 2 do them

  • wow! great! just got my kip today, AND the biggest rip I have ever gotten, it takes up my whole palm and bled a lot!!!!! At elast I got my kip! lol! I do my straddle kip though, pike seems harder! Good Job!

  • wow thats a really nice routine! <3 the really pointed toes and straight legs :)

  • that was really good. i bet you could have done a fly away! you had really great casts.

  • hey if thers a losere here its u, tht was an awsome routine i know b/c i had my first lvl 5 meet sunday

  • this is really good

its the same routine as mine :)

  • WOW... that was reaaaaaally good. i wish my routine looked like that!! lolz

  • you dont have to be so rude tht is a level 5 routine dont talk if u dont kno wat ur talkin about!

  • nice routine. the casts were border line horizontal and the tap swings were piked but other than that good job :)

  • u mite not b from the us. this is aau/usa 5

  • Wow that was really good!! I am a level 5 right now. It is my second year. U have an amazing routine!!! The only suggestion i would give is just be more hollow in the tap swings.

  • it was really good, if you want a higher score the judges really look for the big cast! So if you can get your cast to above horizontal you could have a really high scoring routine! P.S i once was a level 5 so I know what i am talking about

  • wow that was really good! watch some of my videos if you would like 2!!!

  • that was awlsome i am in level 4 at the west end ymca first year being a level 4 and if i where a choach i would of gaving you a umm....... 9.9

  • How do u score a 9.5 in practice? How do u even get ANY scores in practice? Just wondering.

  • coach scores you. You do your routine and the coach gives you a score as if it were a meet.

  • my coaches sometimes score routines too. if they know all the deductions and can remember them. i thought it was just my gym who did that but i guess other coaches do it too

  • Wonderful routine keep up the great work and you will go far!

  • gosh people it was great so stop saying what she did wrong! i know i couldn't do that anyway xx

  • It was good but you were to piked on you swings you werent hollow.. Yes i am a gymnast and i kno what im talking about

  • i think that was very good :D

  • i agree

  • Very good bar routine but very pikey on the tap swings..i didnt like the swings very much :/

  • Ya and she needs to put her head inbetween her arms

  • that was an awsome routine the only duduction was probably the tap swings at the end! but other than that baetiful routine i would have gave you a 9.7 or 9.8!

  • i would have given it a 9.6 or 9.5

  • great job!

  • Beautiful routine!

  • the transition from level 4 to level 5 is a lot..

  • it reallllly is! there is so many new things on bars especially

  • i agree. this girl is very good though. cute =)

  • good job, my personal best on bars was a 9.95.

  • I would give u a higher score than that!!

  • that was awsome! im in lvl 4! but i can do a kip + a highbar kip but i cant jump to the high bar by myself!

  • wow that'sa good bar routine at least a 9.4 my highest score on bars so far is 9.2

  • now THAT is a solid routine. nice kips :)

  • Thank you! :-)

  • that was really good!!!! to gget rid of the scweeking try to wet ur girps cause i did not wet mine & i peeled. GOOD JOB!!!

  • lol, that wasn't the grips squeaking, but thank you for the compliments! That was just the bar set squeaking, but I know what you mean about not wetting the grips. Several of our girls just got new grips and they squeaked like crazy until they finally put water and chalk on them (and used the grip brush). :-)

  • im 12 and im a level 9. thats a really good bar routine. you should post more of your routines. id love to watch them. GOOD JOB! KEEP IT UP!!!

  • Maybe next season we'll post some more! Thanks for the compliments! :-)

  • that's the level 5 routine!!!

i am 11 and i am level 5! that should place really well and score really well!

    i'd give it a 9.6

  • Thank you! She did end up scoring very well this past season! Now she's in level 6.

  • that was a really good bar routine!!!!.............and she is not a liar that was the level five bar rotuine FYI!!!!!!!!

  • uh yeah that's the level 5 bars

  • thats easy i can do that,,,that is not level five u lier

  • First of all, I'm not Mary Kate... I am her COACH, posting the video for her, and please don't bother commenting my videos again. I don't appreciate being called a liar. This IS the level 5 bar routine for both AAU and USAG.

  • I'm just starting and I just turned 14. ^^

  • me too! except i'm turning 14 soon, still 13 (;

  • Thanks for the advice i was worried about what level i was going to be but not any more.

    i'm sooooo....sorry about ur cancer.

    but i'm glad ur better!:)

  • I'm 10 and I'm

     in 6!!!

  • thank you i didn't mean to put that other comment i was trying to comment my bff but i was this video lol. i hope i can skip some levels too......thank you so much for telling me that because i was second guessing gymnastics.i didn't want to be in level one rolling every where with little ones lol....thanks alot!!1

  • your not to old LOL.

I'M 14 AND I'M JUST NOW STARTING GYMNASTICS.

when u start u may be older then your class mates. but thats ok.

as long as your doing what u love to do is the only thing that matters :)

  • I'm a level 5 too! Did you move up to level 6 or 7?

  • She is training both level 6 and level 7 skills, so hopefully she'll be ready to move up by January when we start competing again!

  • that was good! how old is she?

i'm 14 and just now starting gymnastics it's a fun sport but hard lol!!

do u think i'm to old to start gymnastics??

some people say yes and some say yes and some say no:) i think i should just follow follow my dream no matter what any body thinks:)

but i just don't want to compete in level,1,2,and3 cause i know that styff did she start from level one. did she like it sorry if i'm asking to many questions but i want to get as good as her.

  • hey im 12 and i really want to do gymnastics but idk if i'm too old to start too. i just really want to be good but it's going to be super hard if i do try to do gymnastics now. i used to do gymnastics a little bit when i was 8 but then i stopped because my friend stopped lol

  • I'm pretty sure you can start gymnastics again, you don't have to be on team.

  • You can start at any age! I was 11 when I started, and I got to level 8 by the time I was 15 (only 4 years), so it's possible! I would just say... start out for fun with a recreational class, so you can get an idea of how quickly you'll catch on. The coaches should let you know if you're ready to compete! :-)

  • thanks yeah im not the most flexible person in the world but practice makes perfect so i can try.

  • OMG!! Same here! I'm 11 and in Level 5

  • You're never too old to start gymnastics! It's a great sport! Competing is not for everyone, but the coaches should let you know if you catch on enough to join the team. A lot of people go straight to level 4 or 5. Mary Kate (the girl in this video) started competing in level 4 (skipped 1, 2, and 3). She loves gymnastics and says that it requires a lot of time and dedication, but to her it's worth it!

  • Nope your not to old, As long as you don't plan on like making it to the olympics. I use to do gymnastics when I was 8-10 yrs (I had a late start because of cancer, and was almost level 6 and then quit) I wanted to compete again so I just started back up and I am turning 15 on the 28th I am only level 4 but I still like it!

  • great job!

  • Thank you!

  • thats a really nice kip

  • Thank you! She works very hard!

  • how tall is she

  • I'm not sure exactly, but probably around 5'2" or so.

  • oh thanks so much im 12 and i am about 5'1 and i think i miight be too tall 4 level 5, thanks!

  • how old is she

  • she was really tight with pointed toes she was good.!

  • Thank you! She's proud of her routines and works very hard!

  • 0-o

  • how old is she?

  • wow, that was really good! :) really tight and neat. hope i can be like this soon :0

  • it was ok...

  • That was rlly good

  • good job!

  • ehhh...

  • 0_0 +_+ =]

  • goodjob MaryKate!

  • it was ok...

  • that was so good! : )

  • that was awesome i would have goiven her a 9.8 for the little step on the landing and slightly bent arms on her front hip

  • very solid routine! if she'd just tighten up a bit throughout it, it would be much better. otherwise, nice job!

  • not that great, bent elbows, pikey in the tap swings, and not the best dismount!

  • i can do that the dismount is my fav, i am working on long arm pull overs they r easy

  • Fabulous routine :-) Good luck!

  • It was ok...

  • Well, she scored a 9.6 at the state meet yesterday, and that was with a step on her dismount, so I'd say she's a little better than "ok" although this routine was recorded before the season started, so she is even better now.

  • Yeah, this was pretty solid. I saw her arms bend at one point on a cast return, which can be hard to control. and the form seemed a little off on the underswings. Otherwise, very good...great extension!

  • Yeah, she does bend on the cast return sometimes, but she's consistently scoring 9.4's and up this season! :-) Thanks for watching!

  • Wow- You can come to our meets and judge then! :-)

  • Thanks! :-)

  • that was a GREAT GREAT GRRRRRRRRRRRRREAT routine!!!! wow. lol everything was good but like u said her cast squat swings were arched. but other than that wow it was great! lol

  • I scored it around a 9.2, but really just nitpicky stuff. Really nice skills especially for having that "older" body - it can make it harder (I started when I was 12 - oh so many moons ago). You've done a great job with her.

  • Thanks for commenting! Are you a judge? If so, I wouldn't mind knowing what deductions you took; I'm always looking for ways to improve! I deducted .1 for lack of control on low bar cast, .1 for her "fall" to high bar, .1 for long hang kip cast (finished kip w/ feet back too far), .1 for piking @ bottom of the counterswing, and .1 for the step on the landing. That puts her at a 9.5, but I guess I could take off a bit on the first glide swing (lack of extension), and the underswing (head back).

  • I used to judge, now I just coach (couldn't do both at once and I've been coaching for over a decade and truly enjoy it more than judging). I took off a couple of tenths because her knees look a bit bent on her front hip circle and a tiny bit on her high bar kip (when she brings her legs back to the bar). They look straighter elsewhere in the routine. Also, bent arms coming out of her low bar cast - in addition to what you already mentioned :)

  • Thanks! :-) I didn't really think they were bent, but sometimes hamstring flexibility comes in the way for her, so I may be "immune" to it by now! lol :-)

  • Yeah I hate those little coaching immunities you build up :) Sometimes it's nice to see it through "fresh" eyes!

  • You're right! I really appreciate your input! I do see her bend in practice a lot, so she hears the correction, but this video is actually better for her...haha. Nice to know they still look bent...I can see if more when I look for it. Thanks again! Feel free to check out my other videos as I post more! :-)

  • wow thats good

  • why are you doing level 5 when your like 15?

  • She is not 15, she just turned 12, and she's doing level 5 because she's not ready for another level yet. Besides, there would be nothing wrong with a level 5 being 15. Some people start gymnastics late, and they have a right to have fun too, but in this case, she is not that old!

  • i am 15 and level 5 i started late.

  • See, good for you! There's nothing wrong with that as long as you're happy and having fun! :-)

  • scrubby503 why would there be a problem if she was 15 and doing level 5? I didn't start gymnastics till I was 16 and what do you expect me to do ... go straight to level 10 cause I'm too old for anything else?

Geez, mseastbay is right, as long as you love what you're doing it doesn't matter how good or how old you are.

  • BEAUTIFUL underswing! wonderful form! great routine! I can tell this is a hard worker!! way to go!

  • Thank you so much! She is a very hard worker- you wouldn't believe she was the same kid if you saw her a couple years ago, or even last year! We used to talk about "Oh, Mary Kate can do every skill we ask her to try, but she just isn't clean!" So... she finally decided to bring it all together! :-)

  • we definetly have a few like that at our gym! wonderful job... i would take a deduction because her feet aren't above the bar at the beginning of the dismount...

  • what was your score?

  • This routine was just done in practice- not at a meet, but I am her coach, and I scored her around a 9.4-9.5. :-) Thanks for watching!

  • that is an awesome routine!

  • For a younger gymnast, she has beautiful lines. Really nice form.

  • Thank you! Hopefully we can keep those lines on the upper level skills! :-)

  • Good luck Jackie :) You have a great bunch of athletes, and your own gymnastics looks superb too in your other video :) You are a superb coach and gymnast :) James xxx

  • Thank you, James! I'm glad you like the videos!

  • you have a nice routine. i think you will get a very high score. how old r u?

  • Thank you! This is one of the girls I coach. She just turned 12 years old. I scored this routine around a 9.5, but I can't wait to see what the judges give her.

  • that is beautiful she will do really well!!
