  • Here's the truth. Greed, or the profit motive, is the motivation for experts in a field, working for competitive companies in a free market, to search for innovative ways to give the customer exactly what he wants, better quality, faster, affordability, more productivity and technological breakthroughs. When refrigerators and cell phones first came out, they were cost prohibitive. Now the average poor family in the US has them. Standard of living increases aids the poor more than anyone else.

  • @LucisFerre1 I agree

  • “No drug, not even alcohol, causes the fundamental ills of society. If we're looking for the source of our troubles, we shouldn't test people for drugs, we should test them for stupidity, ignorance, greed and love of power.” P. J. O'Rourke quotes (American political commentator,Journalist, Writer and Humorist, b.1947)

  • He is right.....

Greed DOES capture the "evolutionary spirit". Everytime you want more, and especially in a situation where there is no limit to "more", then you are being greedy.

  • This speech is the mantra of the banksters and tax dodging corporations that rule our country.

  • @terrapyn99

    Corporations should pay 0% taxes.

    Why?

Because they're NOTHING but job providing and goods and service making machines. It's a bad idea putting leaches on your work horse. That fat-cat CEO does not pay corporate taxes, he pays personal income taxes. Corporate taxes merely reduce R&D moneys that could go into finding out how to provide a product better and cheaper for everyone (especially the poor). It also kills jobs, raises, bonuses and company expansion and increases prices.

  • @LucisFerre1 Corporations destroy small businesses that are rooted in local communities. The bottom line of a modern day corporation is to maximise profit for the shareholder. The majority of the jobs that these corporations create are in China and in turn the import of these goods undermines our home economy.

  • @terrapyn99, When governments place a tariff on foreign cars, say, that creates a shortage, and increases prices. That creates a greater demand for domestic cars, which creates a shortage and increases prices. You have higher prices for imports AND domestic cars, which decreases the overall market for new car sales. So what you're talking about is largely an ILLUSION. GM will have a larger percentage of DECREASING market, a "bigger" slice of a smaller pizza. See OMP's buggywhip speech.

  • @terrapyn99 said [[Corporations destroy small businesses that are rooted in local communities. ]]

That's like saying that TV destroys poker games. Wrong. Many people would PREFER to watch TV rather than play poker. If people cared about that small business, then that small business wouldn't lose market share. Small companies lose market share because that local community DOESN'T CARE. However, that small company could fill a niche market that Wal-Mart doesn't if it wants to survive.

  • I love the play of words he makes in this mediocre speech. Greed is not the same as ambition, just like rape is not the same as consenting sex.

  • @gasto5 But where does that ambition come from? Doesn't it typically originate from a desire for money, power, or some type of end? The capitalist economy is centered around greed. And hes right! It does work! Look at the economies in Europe In the Middle Ages and you won't see very much greed. I mean guilds with uniform prices and the threat of exile or death for the crime of being greedy pretty much eliminates ambition.

  • @rahl182 Your paragraph didn't make sense. Rephrase it or just don't bother.

  • @gasto5 haha im sorry, i didn't realize how off topic i got. My point was essentially that greed and ambition stem from the same place, and its usually tough to separate them. You call it the difference between rape and consensual sex, but i think you're holding them too far apart. Greed is just an excessive amount of ambition is it not? Rape is wrong, but greed is expected in a capitalist economy.

  • @rahl182 I agree it worked, but it was cruel and unnecessary. And yes, greed is an excess of ambition, where principles are long time forgotten. It's difficult if not impossible to justify that.

  • I believe in greed !

  • Gordon Gekko is a dinasaur. Love is the new currency.

  • How the hell did they get Charlie Sheen to sit still? I want to shake the Director's hand. He's got talent.

  • @EllyMcCormack

Remember that Charlie has tiger blood, Adonis DNA, and he's tired of pretending he's not special. LOL

  • part of what he says is right greed is good, if were not for greed we wouldnt have gone to the moon

  • @TheDEATHSTARIII It's human nature to extend his reach beyond that of his grasp, but when that curtails into greed is a matter of philosophical debate, no? I wouldn't say it's obvious where one begins or one ends.

  • Charlie Sheen has defintely taken these words to heart. Wanting a 100 million from his falling out w/Two and Half Men. He will probably never land a gig on a tv pilot again.

  • @UrielEternal TO HELL WITH YOU... HAVE'NT YOU BEEN WATCHING THE NEW'S? HELLOOO...WINNING!!!

  • @ebuz218 Whatever stop admiring people who take advantage of others and the system. Your admission shows that your a victim and jabroni you brat

  • Teldar Paper has 33 different vice presidents each earning over 200 thousand dollars a year. I can't figure out what any of these guys do! LOVE IT! if traders like these guys had been in control in 2008, the market wouldnt have crashed. liquidation would have prevailed. no more GM, AIG or other failures. just profits

  • Greed is a word that describes only the never ending desire for more money.

Sure it can be used metaphorically in other context, like greed for love or knowledge, but it is irrelevant. You can't have greed for love or knowledge at the same time with greed for money. Greed for money means that you'd sell your own mother and certainly not spend a penny for knowledge just for knowledge.

Greed is never good, it's what slows the upward surge of mankind.

  • -- There is no lack of a better word -- the better word is LUST

  • Greed is evil. C'mon people! Let's all go out and vote until the 'right' person gets in office. FAITH, HOPE, CHARITY, CHANGE! 'We' must act in unison for the 'public good'.ALL HAIL "THE PEOPLE"

  • @truevoice08 FUCK YOU GREED IS GOOD!

  • @54m4rV1ll4 You do know that I was being sarcastic right

  • @truevoice08 same was I lol ...

  • @54m4rV1ll4 YEP!!!!!! GREED IS AMAZING!!!!!!

  • Greed is Good - Leeman Brothaz

  • greed is merely a strong will combined with a destination....it is the essence of evolution, one is born trough will and dies with a destination...

  • "The point is, ladies and gentleman, that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right, greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed, you mark my words, will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA."

  • @RobbenXI Thanks for repeating every word for me, cause i couldn't hear anything in the video, and i couldn't just get that already from the info on the video. You're a real benefit to have around.

  • @coryboy345 That's nice.Because I care SO MUCH for your opinion.

  • @RobbenXI Ok... Even though, in no way, did I give an opinion about anything... Anything else genius?

  • @coryboy345 No, that's all.Thank you for losing 30 to 40 seconds of my life reading your shit.

  • @RobbenXI I'm sure you lost more than that reading it and also not being able to hold yourself back to respond to it.

  • @coryboy345 Okay, I admit, that made me laugh.

  • Greed motivates people to either work hard or it motivates them to steal. Greed causes people to either appreciate the benefits of working hard or it causes them to be bitter because they aren't willing to work hard and yet still don't have what they want. A healthy "greed" is why we have the technology we do and competitive pricing (companies trying to produce a better product for less). Gordon Gekko is right--Greed works.

  • @Defossion 'Greed' producing technology is rational selfishness. 'Greed' that criminals, politicians, and welfare bums have is called irrational selfishness.

  • Yes!
