@frl1508 I didn't like it at first, either. But try changing how you listen to it. I found that if I engage myself with one voice, and let the others float how they will at the edges of my consciousness, it is lovely. The voices I'm not engaging with kind of distort themselves by lack of focus, as ideas and images become unfocused when I'm about to fall asleep...This is very different from how I listen to Bach counterpoint, but it works.Now4how I listen to the metal band Dream Theatre's CP...
It's not Schubert, but it's still very beautiful ;)

It is only piano solo sounds.
However, I can hear the story (cool lyrics inspiration) and an original motif from this amazing historic arrangement by Godowsky.
Thanks for the sharing!! ( my favorites)

godowsky just likes to add notes.

It's nice. Godowsky put in in an original way, and I think it sounds great.

I don't know, I've the feeling Godowsky liked to play all the themes at the same time...the beginning and the end.
It's sound like contrapoint - Schubert. Personnaly, I don't like it.

What's so funny?

I thought it was funny that a Finnish pianist is dabbling with this Schybert-Godowsky piece.

Good piece, but what's with the way-excessive pedal markings?
John11inch 2 years ago
It is peculiar. These abundant pedal marks occur in nearly every one of Godowsky's Schubert transcriptions.
