  • xD

  • Is that what a real man is supposed to look like?

  • Such a great fake commercial. The only thing wrong is the pronunciation of Veidt.

  • yup....I can see Adrian making an ad like this :oP hahahah nice job! <3

  • This was taken straight from the 80s.Good job!

  • song artist and name?

  • ee................h

  • Congratulations on the win! I was able to pick this commercial out in the "Watchmen" film in the Karnak scene. Whopee!

  • WTF? Is there anything that Veidt doesn't try to advertise under his name?

  • You did a really good job of making this appear mid-80s

  • Veidt uses real men...For sex.

  • and holds them all forever in the folder labelled boys on his PC XD lmao

  • haha, yup

  • Did you notice Veidt had a file named "BOYS" in his computer, right next to the pyramid files? There are so many things potentially wrong with that. And I'm not talking about the fact that he might be gay, what's really disturbing is he has the file next to his plans to kill millions of people. He hides his gay porn next to his master plan for destruction. I bet that's where everybody hid their porn in the 80's...

  • Lolz man and I did see that in the movie.

    I guess Rorchach was right.

  • Um, everyone noticed it. And yes, Adrian is gay.

  • In the movie or graphic novel?

  • Remember that Adrian uses a monochrome GUI Apple II in the movie, and that the internet was very small and not open to the public in 1985.

He probably hides his gay porn in magazine form under his meditation altar in Karnak.

  • it's so deliciously eigthies!

  • the song is cheesy, anyone know the name of the song??? please

  • wtF?!??!

  • I love it, perfectly 80's.

  • This is the winning commercial from that contest Snyder had on here before the movie came out right? I was trying to find it in the movie, but couldn't. Did anyone see it, and if so, where?

  • Hah, I have the same problem with people mispronouncing my last name. People just can't get the "ie" combination right. Its a German thing, just pronounce it with a long "I" sound.

  • Sometimes I feel I've got to

    Run away I've got to

    Get away

From the pain that you drive into the heart of me

    The love we share

    Seems to go nowhere

    And I've lost my light

For I toss and turn I can't sleep at night

  • what an idiot. she can't even pronounce Veidt.

  • It's technically pronounced "Vight", but most people think it's "Vait". If I were in Adrian Veidt's place, I probably wouldn't care about the inevitable mispronunciation of my last name(even if it's in a commercial to one of his products), I'd be too busy reeling in cash and planning awesome stuff involving politics.

  • I thought it was prnounced "Veet"

  • I thought it was pronounced McElherny?

  • Man, this commercial is SO middle-80s!

  • Fun to watch, but "Vate" kind of ruins it.

As for Rorschach, it is properly pronounced between "roar-shock" and "woah-shock". It is a German proper name and their is no exact equivilant in English. Ask a German speaker to pronounce it for you.

The psychological ink blot test that the mask and the character were named after was invented by a German doctor,

    Hermann Rorschach.

  • In the graphic novel, Alan Moore tells us how to pronounce it. Or at least, in your American accents. "Raw Shark".

  • Roar Shack

  • While in the book I think it comes off as "Raw-Shark" (look at the scene right before Rorschach visits Moloch the second time, with the detectives.)

Merriam-Webster's audio pronunciation deems it as "Roar-Shock", and that's the one I go by.

  • In the movie it is pronounced Roar Shack

  • "rhotic" vs "non-rhotic" could explain the difference between "raw" and "roar" sounds. in most of england, they are non-rhotic, which means they don't pronounce an r sound at the end of a syllable.

  • This was literally perfect, up until she said "Vate" instead of "Vyte". Still awesome work, though!

  • this must have been in the scene with all of the T.V.'s, I missed it in the film.

  • very nice

  • Actually, it's pronounced Roar-shok. Not that anybody ever gets that right. :-P

Great vid, very LOL for anyone who remembers the 80s. I think the yellow looks a tad better, although the purple is more appropriate for Adrian.

  • If Alan Moore pronounces it Roar Shack, then it's Roar Shack. Not Roar Shok

  • Maybe you're not aware of this, but Rorschach was named for a real person. Google "Rorschach inkblot test". Respect for the author is fine, but don't take it so far as to give him credit for creating a name that was around centuries before he was born. So yeah, it is Roar-shok.

  • Is that supposed to be Veidt in the ad??

  • No, he is not Veidt. It's just a fictitious commercial os a (of course, fictitiuos) product.

  • where was this in the movie? i couldn't find it, only the toy ad

  • i feel like ive just been rick rolled

  • That was great

  • i always thought it was pronounced like "veet" o.o

meh, i had trouble with rorschach's name too... but then again, who didn't XD

  • I always thought it was more like "vite" ;_; *sigh*

  • It is pronounced "Vite"

  • His name is German. In German grammar, when you have two vowels in a row, the 2nd vowel is the long one.

    Veidt = Vite

    Viedt = Veet.

  • "Raw Shack" is how most say it but it is actually "Raw Shock"

  • Total 80s feel

  • Yeah i like it. it is realy funny

  • nice Softcell inspired commercial!

  • the 80s is back , i'm going to kick ass and chew bubblegum again

  • ...and I'm all outta bubblegum!

  • hehe you look like another duke nukem fan like me, that is really good

  • Here, I'll give you some of mine.

  • I bet it has CFCs in it!

  • its cool but the can spinning makes it look like a sex toy.

  • an added bonus!

  • Actually Adrian Veidt makes a comment in the book regarding overt sexual overtones in commercials.

  • Perfect, really makes the majority of the others look utter shite. Love the "Tainted Love" inspired soundtrack.

  • You should have won all 5 camcorders. Pushing back the sunglasses is priceless.

  • Perfect!

  • It's the 80's

Do a lotta coke and vote for Richard Nixon!

  • lose the sideburns and this will be perfect 80s.

  • Hmm... yeah, that pretty much looked like a 1985 commercial.

  • Fantastic, really fits with the book. Great job on props & costumes, too.

Hopefully it'll fit with the movie, too...

  • The best ad from the contest.

  • that was really good. it has the 80's look to it and i could see veidt creating something like that, especially since he has his hair slicked back.

  • Man, if that's not '80s, I don't know what is!

  • i got hit by an 80's nostalgia stick. well done

  • This is good. The cgi is a little to post-1985, but otherwise everything fits.

  • maybe because its for watchmen and it takes place in 1985

  • They said POST-1985, which means after that time...

  • yeah i know i realized that after i posted that

  • okay, cool.

    Cause I was like, "whaaat?"

  • lookat this kid jus make'n chibi mistaaaAAAaakes

  • who's the hottie?

  • It's pronounced "VITE".

  • Genius!! Ditto about the sideburns though brother! Look at Sonny Crocket and Patrick Bateman or even Robert Palmer, no sideburns in the 80s for studs!

  • Looks great, the colors and fashions are spot-on. My only gripe is the hairstyle on the guy. Sideburns were a big no-no in the mid-80's, and never came into style until Beverly Hills 90210 brought them back in the early '90's.

    Otherwise, great stuff.

  • It's pronounced VITE.

The way she's saying it, it sounds like her jaw gave out halfway through the word.

  • W T F

  • it's for the movie Watchmen that's coming out in 2009. the movie takes place in the eighties, the ad captures the cheesy 80's feel.

  • This is my favorite out of all the videos -- most of them didn't really seem very 1980s (and what 80s commercials DON'T reek of the 80s?) but this one aced it. Well done.

  • I absolutely loved this one. I'm so glad you won, very well deserved, and I'll be keeping an eye out for it when I see Watchmen at midnight.

But I just have a question. Is Veidt pronounced like that? I always thought it was like...light, except with a v. Vight. Now I'm a bit unsure. =/

  • There should be a CAUTION: FLAMMABLE at the end of the commercial.

    Heh. Rorschach.

  • Yeah that actually would have been hilarious

  • Agreed, lol.

  • This advert actually makes me feel like i have entered into the dimension of watchmen ever time i watch it. This definetly has to be in the movie.

  • hilarious and awesome!

  • Yeah it deffinantly has got an 80's feel to it *cough*goofylookingheadband*cough*.

Music sounds like Soft Cells "Tainted Love".

  • JUST AMAZING. I hope the movie doesn´t fuck the Bes comic ever made

  • Definitely deserves to win.

Also, to the man with the ridiculously beautiful cheekbones: I kind of love you.

  • Definate 80s feel. Love it :)

  • This is the best one since it looks 80s the most.

  • purple attracts the ladies yeah

  • Nice, best one i've seen. Very "80's"

  • Just let your SOUL GLOW BABY!!! Feelin oh so silky smooth...

    Soul Glow by Veidt

  • LOL!!!

This is the best one. I hope you win!

  • Definitely deserving of a win. As a child of the '80s, this would fit right in.

  • lol

  • Is that some sort of rip off of tainted love? :D

Excellent. It's just that I thought it was pronounced like White almost.

  • HA HA! Excellent!!

  • Lol they got a time machine and bring the 80's back !

    bibitcanus-blogspot-com quadrinhos, humor

  • Was the cheesy overdubbing at the end intentional? Not a criticism, since many 70s/80s/early 90s commercials were poorly made.

  • Yes! This one really captures the essence of the 80's

  • bello bello, ora lo facciamo anche in Italia

  • I'm so glad you won! You were the best by far!!

    Well done!

  • Great job. So very 80's. You got it, man, congratulations

  • yeah if i had to pick a commercial for the movie this would totally be it.great job guys captured the 80's perfectly in 30 secs. bravo hope you make it in the movie

  • Oh, perfect.

  • Congratulations!

  • This really captures that mid 80's style, nice work.

  • XD It nailed that 80's vibe. This one's great.

  • after reviewing nearly all of the veidt commercials, this is one of my favorite

  • This one has GOT to be my favourite. Mood tone and pacing is perfect!

  • I dig it. You got the lighting right and everything. This is one of my favorites.

  • awsome

  • very good.

    very 80's!

  • I think you could have won had you not mispronounced Veidt. It's pronounced "Vite" not "Vate". Is there any way you could change it?

  • In Spanish speaking countries we pronounce Veidt like "vate"... That's why we got confused.. But if they like our spot we could fix that really easily. Thanks for the note. Cheers

  • Haha, great job.

  • best do far!

    nice job

  • Heehee, it's so 80's! Yay!
