  • The NES versions of those classic arcade games are always better than on the atari consoles...

  • My mom used to be so good at this, actually she probably still is. Back when I was playing NES and Mario Bros., she had the 7800 and one game, Galaga. It wasn't until about level 50, that she started having any sort of challenge. Me, I struggle to get to level 10. I also always thought Galaxian came after Galaga, not the other way around, not sure why. Great game, great version of it.

  • omg i always hated this game... it cheated everytime i died i would get spawn killed again and lose all my ships...

  • I would actually consider the 7800 one of the top 10 best consoles of all time because of its epic arcade ports, awesome PAL-controller, and compatibility with Genesis, Master System, and 2600 controllers plus the ability to play 2600 games.

  • IMO the best Galaga game is Galaga 90 on the Turbo Grafx 16 aka PC Engine or Galaga 88 in the arcade aka MAME.

  • (continued from below). I find this odd since the 7800 ports of Space Invaders and Ms. Pac-Man are by far the best old school home console ports of those particular games ever made. In the case of Space Invaders allowing you to completely alter the gameplay elements and for Ms Pac Man to play any level at choice, offering even more than their arcade versions! However, this version of Galaga is really just awful. I honestly don't see why you think this version is the best! Play Arcade or NES.

  • I've been a life long fan of video games, and particularly Nintendo and Namco games. I've played many versions of Galaga, from its arcade version to the NES one to all of its sequels and their ports. I recently have started playing Atari system games, and I have to say that I found this Atari 7800 version of Galaga sorely disappointing. It's mindlessly easy and far too slow compared to any other version out there. (continued)

  • ahhh galaga my favorite classic arcade game of all time i can make it to level 20 1 quarter i need to go back to my laundry mat

  • Lol HD, recorded on VHS.

  • @therealdefpunk

On CGR, HD means Heavy Duty!

  • I just have a ps2 with galaga and also a joy stick controller, and that makes my dad happy.

  • @thisdelledany you mean moon cresta!

  • i bought namco museum ds for this

  • Hey guys I'm a fan of Galaga but I'm searching for a game like Galaga but I i did'nt found it. Its the same as Galaga, shooting aliens but after you have finish the stage, you have to steer all the way down the screen your little ship(1 laser) and attach it to another one bigger and have 3 lasers. if you don't steer it properly, you lose one. after that you have to steer it and attach this one to another bigger and have 5 lasers. What's the name of that game?? please I want to know!

  • ahhhh, the memories with this game, I always tried getting caught just to get double

ships/guns or what ever you want to call it.

  • The arcade in the mall where I live had this arcade game but they got rid of it even though i think it was one of their more popular games.

  • A time when games were played for fun and the only achievement you cared about was being number 1 in the Hall of Fame.

  • I think Galaga on the original NES is much better than the 7800 version. The NES version is almost spot-on arcade perfect in game play, sound, and graphics.

  • i like how galaga and galaxian are backwards versions of each other...with one game having the enemies fall out of formation to fly at you and the other having the enemies fly at you first then hit formation....

  • It looks so slow!!

  • even though i own galaga on 4 different systems, nothing beats the old arcade coin op machines. money well spent :D

  • Definately one of the better looking and better sounding of the 7800 games.

  • that has to be... the happiest game over music i've ever heard...

  • video game version of Ender's Game!! :o

  • copy and paste

2.send this to 2 other videos

3.hold your breath for 10 seconds

    4.press refresh twice

    3.LOOK AT YOUR HANDS

  • Actually I believe you could play Galaga on Dvd players now.

  • 2:16

They should have put 78 bad guys in that challenge mode, so if you shoot all of them, you would get 7800 points. See where I`m coming from?

  • I recently got my first 7800 and picked up donkey kong and this game. Loved donkey kong and it was great, but this game didn't work. Turns out they just sold me an empty plastic shell with no board.... grrrrr and I can't return it either. It's too bad because I love galaga, its probably my favorite arcade game.

  • *I mean 2600. My bad

  • I'm sad this console was never as famous as the 7800. Great video :). Best arcade game ever!

(Street Fighter 2 in a close second)

  • I love this game!!! my first game console was a 7800 and I got this game along with it, one time I played this game so much my ac adapter melted from overheating.

  • I just got this game on Ebay... based on this review. Great info and awesome reviews as always! Keep it up!

  • I always loved this game but my favorite will always be Galaga 3/Gaplus only because in that one you can get the tractor beam and turn the tables by stealing the enemy ships.

  • This is my favorite classic arcade game ever. Beats pac man by a mile.

  • video games first power up?

  • whats the no. 7800 mean? jsut random or something special?

  • The first Atari system was the 2600, the second system 2600 x 2= 5200, so 2600 x 3 = 7800, Atari's third system. So there you have it.

  • @desboukis awesome ill check why they named the first system to 2600,,

  • The 7800 was a very powerful arcade machine!

  • Possibly my favorite classic game of all time.

  • i love galaga! ive got the high score in the machine at my towns movie theater

  • I liked the hidden version on Mortal Kombat 3 the most myself.

  • Like the Sonic Mega Collect, they should have a ATARI MEGA COLLECTION!

  • Wow, if Atari was actually releasing new titles instead of re-releasing "pre-crash" arcade games, the 7800 wouldn't have died so soon!

  • Galaga along with Donkey Kong and Pacman is the greatest game ever.

  • @Luigi84289 and super mario bros which was the pioneer of side scroller..

  • @Luigi84289 What about Earthworm Jim?

  • @Luigi84289 And Q*Bert but that's the least popular one out of the 4. But to me it's another great one.

  • @Luigi84289 and centepide

  • the arcade version is the very first shmup i think

  • Comment removed

  • why can't people get their too, to, two straight? eg me too, tea for two, go to......how fucking hard is it to get it right?

  • definetly galaga is and always will be the best arcade game ever!!

You guys dont know how lucky i am

my cousin in detroit paid 900 dollars for a galaga arcade machine and wenever i go up there we hav galaga tournaments lol

  • awszome.

  • I like the NES version compared to this one alittle bit more but this one was pretty good to. Pretty hard to not to like galga.

  • i say the turbo grafix version of this game is the best

  • this is my favorite arcade game, and one of my favorites of all time (i want this virsion)

  • it looks better on the nes or wii

  • but are better graphics = better game?

  • i never said it made the game better

  • Yeah, is this case it does. The NES vesion is almost identical, but the graphics and audio are better.

  • I always get 37 hits on the bonus stages.

  • do that upducting thing with all of your lives...

  • far out!!!!

  • I loved my Atari 7800, choplifter, centipede, ms pacman, pacman, astro wars, boxing game,

  • retard. (Schwine)

  • I think these game systems were too simple to handle complex gameplay but that means more varied games.

  • Ahh Galaga. I am so damm lucky to have a pizza place that has it. DAMM LUCKY!

Better yet I own at the game. And you will bet your money I run out of quarters quick.

  • @SamPD2 what pizza place?

  • @SamPD2 I'm lucky to have the game ...and the Atari 7800 ....and a tube tv to play it on .

  • @SamPD2 If you own at the game, why do you spend quarters so quickly?

  • 7800 version was a good version.

  • I love Galaga. I have this 7800 version, the NES version as well as my absolute favorite - Galaga 90 for the Turbografx-16

  • Best theme tune ever! Also, Galaga on Tekken, what an excellent idea, a game within a game!

  • I remember this game from Tekken on PS. Before Tekken started you could do one of those challenge rounds. Same sound effects, same aliens. :D

  • cool, nice review

  • I wounder where you can still get a 7800 system at? I sold mine back in 95 when I was a freshmen in highschool and now 14 years later I actully miss these games.

  • Just download an Atari 8-bit emulator. You'll be able to play the same games.

  • There's plenty of websites and used game shops that specialize in carrying retro games n' stuff.

Ebay or Play N Trade for example.

That way you'd still be getting the real thing, not just some computer simulation of a computer simulation.

  • Bleh. I used to have a 7800. It was thrown away by my retro hating cousin. Oh well, Galaga rocks, I have the Xbox LIve version

  • Your cousin THREW AWAY your game console?!?! WTF! How could he do that, and how could your parents not make him replace it?

  • They didnt know what I had or anything, ive got to many retro games to count so they always wonder how theres one I could possibly not have.

  • Well they could at least get you the console again....damn, that sucks. =/

  • lol my mum was a pro at this, wait she was ELITE, she never loses a life at all throughout the whole game!!!!!!!!! luv u mum ...lmao

  • lol u callin me a fag coz i show my mum respect? hahahahahahaha feel srry for u!!!

  • Looks pretty good, Galaga is my favorite arcade game.

    Great review!

  • Looks good, I actually just won an auction for Galaga for the Nes....which looks pretty decent from the videos I've seen so far.

  • I was just playing this. I had to brush off my Atari 7800 sometime. (My Persona 4 seemed to take up the majority of my videogaming with a little snes in there.)

Anyways great game as we all knew, but for some reason I was always more familiar with Galaxian.

  • it like the same as the gamboy colour version

  • Does the 7800 play 2600 games?

  • ya!

  • yes it is backward compatible . so get an atari 7800 pro system!

  • I'll.

  • galaga is my favorite 2d shooter. :D i wish i could try out the 7800 version.

  • I think in Galaga, you fart evey time you die. lol

  • Awesome 6-bit graphics

  • The graphics are 8-bit.

  • I got the cartridge somewhere in my crib! I love this version for the A7800.

  • Nice review.

  • you can also get galaga on wii shop channel, both versions, but i prefer the cheaper version because its cheap. :D

  • Why are the graphic under par from the nes ones.. i thought the 7800 had equal power?

  • Unfortunately, the 7800's power was not used as often as some people would've liked.

  • I know! I thought the same thing. The NES version is so close to the arcade it's unreal.

  • Kick ass review dude! Galaga is one of my favorite games! I dont care what system its on! But i do prefer the classic systems though. Oh and i like the theme song and introduction

  • my first game it was in the pizza place in the town I grew up in

  • I love your REviews.. Ive seen 20 of them already. you do great work..

  • You say Galaga is a reason to ge a 7800? Why? If you can get it on Xbox live. Unless you say this version is better then the arcade.

  • Hey, Atari 7800 looks cool! I have a 2600, and this video make me try to catch a 7800.

  • nice review, i prefere the arcade stick though

  • Wow, good review. You seem to be doing a lot of space/shooter type games lately. Ever thought of reviewing Gyruss for the NES?

  • Lifeforce on the NES is coming soon!

  • cool i can't wait

  • @IronFury Yeah. I'm all for that one. Greatest space shooter of all time as far as I'm concerned. As a matter of fact, the NES version is better than the Arcade version IMO.

  • Oh bummer you died with one of your ships captured! That sucks when that happens. Galaga is a great game. I still play it all the time. Great video!
