Is carbon dating indeed an exact science? Or are dates proffered, beyond known models, just theorized educated calculations based on known models? I understand that one can observe, monitor and record molecular changes of "something", over say 100 years. But I'm confused as to how one can use and extrapolate that data out over say 10,000 years, and postulate that the results calculated are to an absolute certainty?
