  • I forgot to mention mine still has the original headliner and the dashboard still has the original paint when it 1st rolled off the assembly line. It was also a 1 ownercar. I got mine for a birthday present

  • I have a 1961 fury and I enjoy mine. I take mine to shows and cruise ins. There are times I will take it out for a drive. In the winter monts it will hibernate. I will start the car at least once week and let it run for 5 minuites

  • There are not very many of these left. I have a fury 2drht which is also a '61. It took a year and a half to restore mine . I have taken mine to shows and cruise ins. It will also be in a movie called Hell and Mr Fudge. I plan to add a CD player to mine and get my windows titnted

  • @sb57fury1 I understand the big '60 and '61 Plymouths and perhaps Dodges had a low survival rate. If I was ever to get one, I'd consider any model save for the 2-door hardtop. OTOH I MIGHT consider the 2-door Plymouth wagon.

  • Great rock version of the song "Get Ready;" who sings it? It has been two years since you posted this video, so I was wondering how the car looks today and if you have made a follow-up video to this one?

Can't wait to see the car when it is done!

  • @Graydonpow - That's Rare Earth doing Get Ready (one of about 4 live versions I've heard). In the two years since this video was made, I have not done a lot to the car as funds have been sparse . . . I got a set of wheels/tires, found a donor car and got a a lot of the trim, and my Australian buddy (Adriana, Queen of the Plymouth Suburban!) set me up with some headlight rings. Last summer was spent on rear brakes and the power brake unit. Updated video coming in the near future. Randy

  • Toxicg00 you are lucky! I just love the styling, especially the grille & headlamps, its pretty much unique and nothing like anything we've ever had in England. You've made a lovely job of the restoration of this and I believe you also own the Station Wagon. Double Lucky!

  • My mom had a 1961 Belvedere in air force blue. My uncle had a 1961 Fury two door. It's utlra modern styling had a steering wheel made exactly like an airplaine's, flat on top and round on the sides, and awkward to use. The rear window was huge, and extended almost out to the edge of the back seat. You could lay your head back on the seat and look up out the window into the sky. Needless to say it was a little warm in the back seat on a hot day. Chrysler really had odd styling in the 60's.

  • smash it!

  • This is identical to my first car!!!! I bought it used in 1964 for $560.00 I had the typewriter (pushbutton) transmission!!! The first time I drove it I burned rubber because it had a 318 V8, and I was used to driving my dad's 1954 Chevy stick shift with a 232CI straight 6 engine!!!!! Man did I ever love that Mopar!!! I sure wish I still had her !!!!!

  • I think that you did a wonderful job on both the car and the video and I also liked your video of the Suburban!! Great job!!

  • i will be driving soon and would love to have a car like that.

  • No you don't, you want one that works properly (this thing smokes so bad, the EPA has fined me for killing every bird in two states, and the brakes are scary to say the least - things I'm going to be working on in the upcoming year). It is a very interesting car and gets a lot of looks . . . shortly before they run away gagging, fighting for breath!

  • I wish I still had my 61 Savoy...

    Beautiful car Toxicg00. You're a lucky guy.

  • nice car man i still have mine in back yard it was my first car i have owned since 1990 when i got permit to drive ,was parked because brake parts were hard to find not so safe when you bleed the brakes before going to school, but i did get it to almost fill up dash just to 100mph!!!pumped the brakes alot to slow my big belvedere down on a long and empty road love to hear yours run when gas was still regular for 89cents spent more on brake fluid though

  • Trade ya' my left nut for ya' Mopar! I had one of these in 1966, my 1st car. It was a seafoam green. The old wide block 318 seemed to have had more power than the small block 318. It would hall that heavy 4 door to 120+. Just had to see the speedo turn red all the way across. Wish I had kept it stored somewhere.

  • I've already got a left nut, but thanks for the offer. Seafoam green? Have you seen my other video of my 1961 wagon? I believe it's seafoam green (or is it mint green? I'm not sure). Nice to hear from people who appreciate these cars (and yes, the Poly 318 rule!).

  • Good to see another running around.

  • So much fun following along with you from discovery to the first drive! Thanks!

  • Such a classic design. How awesome. My 61 was a Savoy and green. I loved that car. Of all the cars I've owned it was my favorite. Just every detail is perfect. Totally unlike anything else before or since. Thank you for restoring this beauty. So many ended up crushed or forgotten in fields(where mine came from).

  • Excellent clip! One of the nicest models of the 60´s. My brother used own one 20 years ago, but that was a hardtop.
