  • Hi Davie

Do you know if this fly would do well on the river doon or in the Galloway hills as i am a keen cyclist as well as a fisher, if there is a good loch within 20miles from my door the i will cycle to it...very nice fly once again, you should give me and my dad a call the next time you'll be up this way when the season is back in, meanwhile its the bogton for me...

    Steven

  • Hi Steven(A7xRIPtheREV1),

It's a good allround fly on rivers and lochs both for brown trout and seatrout and it will even take salmon..Don't worry if I get a chance I'll drop by..ATB Davie

  • This looks awesome! My only problem is I dont have blue jay, I have never seen it before, and I dont know what i could substitue for it at the moment. Is it something you use a lot? Any suggestions?

    Darilyn

  • Hi FischLips26, Guinea Fowl dyed blue is one of the best subs for Jay, another good one would be grey partridge..Here in the U.K you can buy blue jay from most shops selling fly tying materials...

    All the best Davie

  • Great tying Davie, used use one similar in ireland it was great for the salmon aswell as the trout.

    Best wishes John

  • Hi Davie

Another beautiful fly. One I want to try out. If you would, what size is the ribbing you use? That is another item I can not find locally and will have to order it in.

    Much Thanks!

  • Hi azwoolybugger,

Sorry about not getting back to you , the size of the rib is Number 14 which is from Veniards but it would be a small from the other companies out there...

    All the best Davie
