  • Omg! Texting and driving?! Quick! Somebody pass a law against that!

  • hehe hab was geiles entdeckt haha

  • How were you guys able to record one continuous video without stopping the camera to swap out memory cards, CD's, batteries, etc?

  • Its like a command center

  • There is a such thing as overkill. And having 9 screens, and an assortment of detectors/jammers/radios in front of you pretty much meets the criteria.

  • Is he driving a car or piloting a 747 on a runway?

  • jf musial???

  • i think you need more gadgets in the car

  • Haha, looks like you're driving a freakin' spaceship!!

  • NOT ENOUGH SATNAVS :) but seriously... that is a bit of overkill

  • Got to admit, doing the gumball 3000 in a powerfull 4 seater or grand tourer with some mates riding along is gotta be more fun then just you on your own or with 1 other person in a supercar. fun as supercars can be doing a whole gumball 3000 in one cant might get a bit uncomfortable.

  • Isn't it hard to drive in the dark with all those lights at your dash?

  • @pmlopmlop he has thermal vision.

  • what kind of camera did you use for the high speed footage?

  • what the hell is on all of those screens besides gps and enginemanagement stuff

  • wood tips ftw.

  • Some say he lost half his eyebrow from a fist-pumping accident. Ladies and Gentlemen, our tame racing driver, Alex Roy.

  • I wish there was a "Love" button

  • Geez is all that stuff necessary? lol

  • awesome! you must need one hell of an alternator for all of that stuff haha

  • i cannot figure out whtat is whith 7 screens and a lap top!? what do they do?

  • i cannot figure out whtat is whith 7 screens and a lap top!??? what do they do?

  • @Ucraine Lemme know if you find out!

  • Great vid, on a future road testament could you guys review radar detectors, and what type did you use for the cross country run?

  • @EFAIR3 I believe he used a valentine v1. I don't know much about them, but they seem to be the best as just about every video I see of rally's they use that same one.

  • Theres a monitor on the passenger side that goes from GPS to what looks like a telemetry screen back to GPS what is it and where can i find one?

  • are you going to join the 2011 edition of gumball?

  • I think you need more screens

  • Mr. Roy I congratulate you from your automotive achievements. I´ve seen most part of videos and expect many more!

At this moment I´m reading, among other, your book.

    Best regards from Portugal.

  • don't all those nav's and radar-detectors and other electronics on the windscreen get in the way of your vision? I imagine you want a clear view outside when doing those kinds of speeds... Personally I can't even stand my mirror (it's mounted quite low in my car)

  • 1:01 - DC represeeeent!

  • holy lcd screens batman! Why so many?

  • I wanna know what your avg speed was...Especially through Virginia

  • Awesome way to time lapse the whole thing. I've done essentially the same trip from my home in northern NJ all the way to Orlando instead. I love driving long distances.

  • It would be funny if they got lost.

  • what song is this? it's great. also fantastic video. alex roy, you are the man.

  • How long did the trip actually take?

  • i did read the book and i loved it hope you write another!

  • not to be a hag but what's the need for like 6 GPS units?!

  • Really love this video. Can't wait to see what you guys have in store next.

  • I'd really like to know what song/music was used in this video... Thanks!

  • is the movie ever going to be finished and released to the public?

  • Excellent video, been a big fan of Team Polizei for quite some time, finished The Driver about a month ago, awesome, awesome, awesome.. Though for your next video like this look into the band Lotus, this video goes really well with their song Spirtualize.

  • E39 M5 FTW

  • theres so many buttons and switches in that car i want to push and click all of them alex roy is a cool dude

he took his time explaining his car to me

i was mesmerized by how well equipped that Bimmer is, its the ULTIMATE DRIVERS MACHINE

  • lol @ all the electronics

  • Legends. The coolest M5 in the world by far.

  • just bought your book The Driver and I cant wait to start reading it! Im doing my first rally this summer, the 2010 Route 66 Rally with 50 other cars, and I am soo excited. Team Polizei is unbelievable and a good role model for me to look up to

  • Dude, Alex Roy. You are my hero!

  • I don't understand why do they have 546 gps devices. (that in the middle is thermal camera I know that, but what about those 7 LCD's? :D ) just wondering...

  • @sinthetix1

because they're pro at what they do. read the book The Driver and then you'll learn

  • @XionUnjust thanks for recommendation :)

  • its so they can have one doing waypoints and the outhers doing speed, and then one doing over all route.

  • @seroyer2 thanks for info :)

  • I did montreal - miami in 23h45....so I don't find this that impressive...we had 4 drivers however, so I guess it is a bit easier...but no radar/laser detector and a single gps...which failed twice + border to cross.

  • maybe you should research of his other times..

  • They are not up for a race, see the movie 32:07 and comment after that.

  • Polizei 144... the coolest and most insanely technological Gumball Team ever and my all time favorite... & im waiting for that R8 Blackbird to make its debut trip video...But I'm Begging Sir Alex to provide me with the name of the song...........please.

  • The interior glow of the 144A at night is just beautiful.

  • @MANUALmobile

    just like splinter cell :)

  • The E39 M5 is my second home :)

  • Was this just a lot of photos merged into a video, or motion sped up? I thought it was still imagery but some spots you can see the image moving.

  • I see an iPhone among all the other gadgets.

  • Hey alex, I posted a video response of a time-lapse I did from the upper west side to bergen country NJ.

Not quite a 1000+ mile time lapse in 5 min, but it's something.

  • Great video, thanks. I've perused all 62 comments and this question has not been answered yet: What is the name of that song?!?

  • Yeah I wanna know it too!

  • these guys are GOOD

  • awesome video!!!!!!!

by 1 of the biggest team polizei fans!

  • Sounds like fun... Can't wait for my next road trip!

  • Awesome vid. I love the cockpit. We drove over 100mph the entire time to miami last time

  • Hey Alex! Great Video! Its really...interesting...to see that distance in 5 minutes. lol. I just got your book a couple days ago. By far the best book I have read in a long time. BTW, Thanks for the message and the autograph! Its been a long time dream to participate in the Gumball 3000. Maybe I will get to some day. =)

  • Whaz up Alex, the vid is Major Sick.

  • To everyone saying "not impressive" the point of the video is not to race, they were just making a sped up video. Its just meant to be one of those time lapse kinda things. Otherwise im pretty sure it would be noted that they were trying to go fast.

  • e39 4 life

  • What driving gloves are those Alex?

  • Awesome- WHAT SONG IS THIS??????

  • You can also put the URL in a youtube mp3 converter.

  • What is the name of this Song???

  • Alex Roy is the man.... I hope one day i can just get 3 friends hop in a nice euro ride and just cruise, enjoy the journey (people, Places, Things) and the joy of driving... Alex Roy gets paid to do that and for that alone he is the man

  • @Lex89 Infact no, he doesn't get paid to do 'cruising' trips, he gets paid with his work applied into Polizei 144 team, and he prolly looses a share fair of money paying for everything, (family, car, subscriptions for garmin, iphone etc.). He has fun doing all this but uncheck "Getting paid", because a lot of the money he earns goes for the team! :)

  • @Lex89 aaah dude; he doesnt get payed ??

  • what song is this

  • Roy! You are the MAN!

  • really awesome. I do orlando to nyc and back twice a year to get all my stuff down to school.

I know you guys weren't trying to break any records. My buddy and I did it last may in an e46 325 sport in 15 and a half hours.

    ....just sayyyyinnnnn

  • About 1,075mile drive with an average cruising speed of 69-70mph

    Not impressive

  • how fast have you done it?

  • Made it from NYC to VAIL, CO in 24hours even. In a full car with ski gear and all.

    1870miles / 24hour = 78mph total average with stops for fuel every 350miles

Once a month I go from Boston to Rocherter, NY in 4 hours 45mins averaging above 80

  • ok. man...

avg of 70 mph isn't that much less than 78 or 80. all we had was a v1, none of your fancy laser jamming stuff.

  • Yeah Alex, what song is that!

You cant put good stuff up and tease us like that!

I couldnt pull anything up on shazam =/

  • the speedo at 3:11 lol

  • does anyone know exactly which BMW is that??

  • e39 M5 i believe

  • BMW E39 M5

  • i told my boyfriend to eat pineapple juice before we do it next time, guess why?

  • WTF

  • what song is playing in the background?

  • cool video, Alex, im excited for the movie.

Yea my bother David, said the movie is pretty awesome, he saw the long cut, said it was almost 4 hours.

  • where and how did he manage to do that?

    id love to see it

  • he and Alex watched it, i think at Alex's house, but i'm not sure, it may have been someplace else. Alex would know better than i would.

  • really cool interior!!

  • Actually, the engine is off, but we keep the battery on so the Garmin trip computers can keep an accurate record of time elapsed.

  • Aaah. Anyway great video, I enjoyed watching it, you should make more of these. Kinda crazy watching it go from Nyc all the way to the Delaware Memorial Bridge in 30 seconds.

  • @polizei144 what camera did you go guys use ? cheers

  • @freshplates LOL telling team polizei something about automobile operations.

  • @freshplates he knows what he's doing.

  • NIce, Looking forward to the movie.

  • i am the biggest loser on youtube, thank you and goodnight

  • I'm guessing you're scouting a route for another record?

  • Duuuuude I've been enjoying the book for 3 times sinds februari this year... wheeeeere is the movie? ;-)

To kill the time I've been reading Brock Yates his Cannonball Run book, America Unchained by a guy who crossed the US only using non-chained gas, food and hotels and a journalist his book about his 2004 Gumball Rally participation. Yesterday I watched Eric Bana's 'Love the Beast'. It's time for 32 Hours 7 Minutes!!!!

    Please? ;-)

  • do u mind giving me the name of the book for 2004 gumball rally? thx very much

  • Wow Alex, must have been a fun road trip!!, maybee next time you come down to Miami, you should stop by my little restaurant(its more like a lunch place for the people that work in the downtown area) for a bite to eat!! And good job on the race even though you guys didnt win!.. We're all still cheering for Team Polizei!

  • wow, thats alot of screens!

  • Book was amazing bro. Im hoping for a sequel of some kind.

  • Love it. I hope alex writes a new book. The first one was amazing.

  • Awesome, any updates on 32 hours 7 minutes??

  • Well the picture is suppose to be finalized by now if Corey kept to the timeline she stated some months ago. Now the wait is on for a studio to buy the picture!

Personally I with they would release it themselves I would pay $30 for the DVD if not more I have waited so long

  • Great video guys! looks like your in an airplane

  • This is a BITCHIN video!!!

  • Alex, killer video. Did you guys use a Canon TC-80N3 Timer Remote Controller or something else? What was the interval period?

  • very cool video.5*

  • hey what camera did you guys use for this video?

  • 50D

  • It's about time you did a Gondry

  • Wow, reading your book at the moment and this is perfect :D

Great quality. Any more video's like this?

  • Many more to come. Glad you are enjoying the book!

  • Upon watching this for about the 5th time, this truly is epic! Brilliant SLR camera whatever make and model it is!

  • The screen to the left is in a night vision camera, the two nexto it are Garmin GPSs, theres an exceleromiter/multi tool right to the right of the steering wheel, theres a OEM BMW GPS(really shitty) theres another GPS on the bottom of the screen and another GPS to the right(the largest screen) theres another night vision scanner for the passanger directly inforunt of the glove box and the top right screen is a PDA, Valentine V1 radar detector to the left of the rear view mirror.

  • What are all of those screnes? I need to know, my curiosity is killing me. Also I was wondering if J.F. still has that file with all the 24 hour gas stations, and if so could I get a copy?

Great work guys, I don't even care if you are doing speed runs, I just like to see the car and setup.

  • Comment removed

  • As far as I know from reading 'The Driver' and other bits and bobs, the screens are a combination of GPS's (2x Dash Express, numerous Garmin devices, iPhones running Trapster and most likely EveryTrail as well) and there are two 7" Alpine displays for the thermal night vision camera mounted below the license plate on the front bumper/fender. There's the display for the M5's built-in GPS system as well. Hope this helps :-)

  • Whats this song,

  • I think the whole 'storm chaser' thing is more plausible now... there are enough screens to start 'zee German highway patrol weather center'

  • What we've all been waiting for I think! More of this please Alex :-)

  • I agree... exacly what we have been waiting for. Any more footage you can upload Alex?
