  • HALLOOO I LOVE YOU WOULD YOU TELL ME YOUR NAME (8)

  • my name is martin too

  • @fhhfw Not really to us Dutch people German definitely sounds different from Dutch and we don't confuse it with our own language. However, I can understand that to foreigners who have no knowledge of either Dutch or German they can sound similar even though I feel like there are huge differences in grammar, pronunciation etc. I can't really grasp how people would confuse the two

  • i´m austrian what equals that my mother tongue is german and i thin dutch sounds like a real hard dialect ;) don´t know if it´s reversed the same way. nice video!

  • this is really psychadelic...tripin' out man

  • @Larieleinchen aaah i get it to much similar sounding but you need to write it different. i dont want to be stupid but for dutchmen learning germans is quite easy.

  • @jipje44 Aha.

  • Well done John !!! Goed gedaan John...!

  • (ABN means Dutch without a dialect) This guy has a weird R

Why learn Arabic and not Dutch is first of all almost everyone in Holland speaks English and where i go to school is 100% from foreign country's and guess what 88% is from Morocco or turkey they all speak Arabic and I would love to learn Arabic so I can listen to all there conversations^^

  • @keesdecrip I think it seems similar to German. Yes, for most people it's very unnecessary to learn so I'll skip. It could be fun to know though, especially if one goes there, can practice it and be social.

  • • well because a lot of Dutch people have a weird R and a weird G.

take a look at the Netherlands its divided in Provinces.

every province has its one accent and there a lot of accent who you don’t want to learn.

It's better not to learn Dutch from someone who’s from Groningen, Friesland, Limburg, Brabant or Belgium. its way better to learn from someone who's from Utrecht or Zuid Holland. of course is this only advanced speakers who want to learn ABN.

  • @keesdecrip People in utrecht & zuid holland don't roll their R's enough though. I think groningen is fine, as well as drenthe & the achterhoek.

  • learn arabic thats more usefull in holland :B

  • Can anyone teach me dutch?

  • @nabiho93 I can i'm dutch with a NORMAL ACCENT

  • @keesdecrip what do u mean normal accent :P does this guy have a weird accent? btw i speak arabic..why is it more useful in holland..only 2 % are arabs

    _YANA_

  • Amazing how much English language has stolen from this language. Not saying it in a bad way. It's just very interesting how similar they are. How cool!!!

  • @Landotter1

    They're both Germanic languages...so they're related

  • @Landotter1 I heard from many people the dutch has tooken words from english, In many videos people say who live in netherland say that dutch people have tooken it from the english

  • haha, it seems like he speaks Chinese. xd

    Ghuallo. Main Nam Is.

    xd

    geniaal gewoon (:

  • Martin is cute

  • I don't know why but to me, Dutch sometimes sound like an English /German hybrid. More reduced vowels like in English and dark L's ->plus R's and rounded vowels like in German ( I'm talking 'bout Dutch U's and EU's)...What do You think about it?

  • I know quite a bit of Norwegian and a German dialect which is somewhat similar to Dutch, plus French but that doesn't really help, and so this was quite easy to understand. My language: Hallo, mien nome ess *insert name* onn wäa heet jie? Ück leijcht.

  • ahahaha (:

    (the same sentence haha:-P)

poor John XD forgot his own name XD ahahaha XD

  • lmfao i love how the length of this video is 420

  • Ive actually heard that dutch is one of the hardest languages to learn because the grammer is so irregular and stupid. Im from holland myself and i have french dutch and english and dutch at my school and dutch is the only class im failing. :P

  • @Saartjuh1993 i know im dutch i live in america at the moment, but english is much harder grammatically

  • Why are Dutch people so touchy about their language? It's no more or less difficult than any other European language. Get over it.

  • @awathmoon Because holland is a boring country, and we want to be interesting...

  • Hahaa soo true

  • @awathmoon we did never say that, and i dont agree, i think the same. I'm dutch.

  • It is def much harder then any other language in the world exept a few that are even harder then ours, but ofcourse u can learn dutch but its much harder to learn then other laguages

  • @awathmoon Because there are tons of dialects Fries, West-Vlaams, Limburgs. What you hear here is regular dutch from the Netherlands. But please explain to me wath you mean with touchy : /

  • @FeltDownHard

a little correction here fries isnt a dialect its a language :)

    ty

  • sounds so lovely......but not better than Deutsche but still my 2nd favorite language in the world

  • guy was learning Dutch so hard that he even forgot own name......Must be really dificult... :)

    schwer Sprachkurs...

  • German grammar is much, much more difficult than Dutch. Dutch is not a difficult language to learn if you already some English or German.

  • Dude.. By grammar, the Dutch language is one of the most difficult languages in the world!

  • worse than german? thats seems hard to believe.

  • To you maybe, but i'm Dutch and I have learned German in school for three years. There's just one part in German grammar which is difficult, but as soon as you have learned that part (there's a helpful schedule for it) the rest is easy. Dutch is just full of unlogical rules and facts.

  • i'm actually really interested in this and language in general. what do you find hard about german, and what do you find illogical about dutch? just curious.

  • @sk8erMark cool I'm going to lear some chinese than ! :D... joking I know

  • @MerlilithProductions

haha i'd start learning english first if i were you...

  • @awathmoon

That's very true I can speak english and german and dutch seems to be connected to those two languages, dutch is very easy once you can speak german fluently. =D

  • @1Mperios

I noticed some things are very similar to enlgish to xD

  • Yes some things really are, but it's like that with a lot of languages. I'm dutch and live in america for over 8 months now and it keeps surprising me how much dutch and english are similar sometimes. Especially old dutch and old english are very much alike sometimes.

  • they're both west-germanic languages so why should that be surprising? especially the older dialects (including the flemish ones) are extremely similar to old english.

  • @BelgianMusic

    Flemish is not a dialect

  • Dutch Language is mix between, English and german language.. so alot of things sound a bit same as english

  • Comment removed

  • i speak both norwegian and english fluently, and ive never learned dutch before, but still i can understand almost everything without translation, i guess its because dutch is a germanic language too, so our languages are related! :D

  • Is it true that for English people Dutch sounds like Chinese to us?

Btw Dutch IS difficult.. especially the grammar.. I'm 15 and Dutch and I still make a lot of mistakes in Grammar. No wonder we've got 'Dutch'classes in school during our school carreer.

    Excuse me, my english sucks

  • lol, well my english lessons at school were always way behind on me, i learned english from tv and games

    -en ja, ik ben nederlands-

  • dit is echt suffffffffffffffffffff.!

  • if you dont are Flanders or Dutch Dutch is very difficult to learn. Its one of the hards language to learn.

  • they say dutch is one of the easiest languages to learn, because it is more closely related to english than any other major language. and they say its easy to learn if you know german as well, since its kind of a half way point between english and german.

  • Dutch is pretty simple but that's my opinion!!

  • Its easier to forget than to learn,Ive been going for 10 years now & its time i learned fully.

  • I am picking words up left right & centre! i find it easier to read & write than to speak just now.

  • It's good to hear about fellow Brits learning Dutch. I found that listening to online radio as much as possible helps with the pronunciation. The hardest part for me was making the 'ui' and 'eu' sounds distinct.

  • Ive been going for 10 years now & i know some words,Its just sentences i find hard putting together! dank je.

  • Only the Dutch say Dutch is difficult. It's not if you already speak English or German, so don't be put off by the previous comments!

  • the dutch lauguage itself isstn difficult but speaking it correctly ... then its one of the most difficult of the world

    like arabic chineese or japanese

a dutch person will always hear that its not there own language unlike english or german exct exct

  • Nah Dutch isn't anywhere as difficult as Japanese. Granted, talking Dutch correctly is pretty difficult I think for foreigners, but its not impossible, especially if you have some knowledge of German.

  • I think he's swearing at us, and we don't know it

  • @PiedPuyper no hes jsut saying the things next it

  • No, he is being nice.

  • i speak dutch and he doesn't swear at all

this is swearing -->gore klootzak it means dirty bastard

  • hahahahahah

    mooi man :p

  • yes..

by the way, this guy speaks dutch not very good

  • i can hear he is from the netherlands

  • and your english is bad... :) lol

anyhow, dutch aint that easy to learn unless you speak german, from english on its rather hard to get it right. altho grammar errors are the most made mistakes.

  • Your'e English is pretty bad too. In two sentences you made two spelling mistakes and nothing you said makes sense!

  • @tha2bad4u lol i speak lots of languages, my main language is Flemish, but i speak full english, french, italian, spanish, german and dutch. i dont mean to brag dude... just saying THUMBS UP IF YOU SPEAK ANY OF THESE LANGUAGES! :D

  • @kingboomber WOAH WOAH WOAH!!!!! Since when is Flemish a language? It's just a Duch dialect, native to the Dutch speaking community of Belgium -_-' ...Je weet wel wat ik bedoel denk ik...
