  • hi,

i cant find any famous songs in this style, with the exception of a few ry cooder songs, is there a cd with more of this kind of music?

  • Really good stuff ! It makes me want to sit down in the backyard with a few cold ones, a pack of smokes and keep hitting replay. Well done, very well done !!

  • It sounds like a Quentin tarantino or robert rodrigues movie

  • Hi, I just seen that you're from the UK as well. Nottingham is a little far from Georgia. :-) Check out Mike Snowden, Porch Song here on YouTube. He's a great guy too. I bought his first album, Summer in the Fields and he sent over a free t-shirt with the cd. It's a great album if you like blues. Cheers

  • Hey Karl, I love this song. I don't where you live but there is a guy called Mike Snowden who makes some awesome cigar box guitars. He's from Marietta, Georgia. I'm sure he would help you out with your. He has some songs on YouTube too that are worth checking out. This song is really soulful and beautiful. Glad I stumbled across it. Cheers

  • @damo666smith

Unfortunatly several thousand miles away from there haha :P but thanks for the nice comment! and i'll be sure to look him up, i'm always interested in hearin that kind of thing.

  • hi.cool song.like the darkness of it.kind of like being lost in a swamp.you ever play cigar box guitars?

  • @TheBarryNoVa

Unfortunatly i've never played one :/ I still have a wooden cigar box that i got a long time ago with the intention of building one but i've never got around to actually doing so.. Maybe i will one day though when i trust myself to actually do a good job with building one :P

  • Great song. Would any of you tell me of any artist into similar type of music? Thanks

  • @401Nero

Thanks =] I'm not too sure which artists would be similar, there are a lot of good people doing stuff like this on youtube videos, but i suppose fred mcdowell has some songs that have that more melancholy sound, john lee hooker, some early muddy waters songs (especially the acoustic ones if you can find them), then some songs of RL burnside and Junior Kimbrough.

You gotta look around i suppose, im glad you like the sound though ^_^

  • @karl198 Thanks. I am going to look up on those guys. And I know which guys on youtube you are talking about. I have compulsively listened to their songs as well.

  • hermoso!

  • great

  • For you sir, I pour a glass of Beam and sip it in your name. Good laid back playin'.

  • I keep coming back for this, hehe! need my eerie dark swamp fix all the time! You need to make some more of these, please.

it actually inspired me to try and make some myself, maybe ill put it up i can make something good.

But i would like some more inspiration from you! :-)

  • what pedals did you use?

  • @kspocover

No pedals used, this was a few years ago when all i had was my vox VT50 amp. So i'm using the on board digital reverb and tremelo :P

  • love the dark and eerieness in this... Its great!

  • The buzz of the slide suits the mood I think. I like it.

  • dude you may say that your much better at slide now but the murky sloppy rawness is what makes this shit. thumbs up.

  • @HDL2112

    thank you :D

  • funny how i was raised inbetween big city and small town. but i feal at home in the swamps of louisiana

  • Southern comfort....fuck, this is good.

  • awesome this is my favorite blues sound

  • They should have put this in the Deliverance film with Burt Reynolds instead of the duelling banjos.

  • Fantastic. Great job, really comes from the soul. It has to in order to play the blues, and brother you nailed it.

  • Love your sound brother!

  • Hypnotic.

I don't know what it is but this does sound interesting.

What are but whacking in the background? A wooden box?

  • @GravityBoy72

It was a drum loop made of some hi hats and a conga :)

  • can anyone recomend album or band which plays like this?

  • A few old time "swamp blues" artists are Slim Harpo, Lonesome Sundown, or Lazy Lester. Check them out!

  • it's good to add a little vibrato or chorus effect when playing tunes like this, wouldn't you agree? Your tune has a nice feel to it, very earthy

  • man, this is totally awesome!

nothin' like some good ol' swamp blues.

    -Ed D. Aiss-

  • 5 well deserved stars. Dangerous sound indeed! hehe. I'm somewhere around your alley skill-wise, so if you have time, check my stuff!

  • wouahh ! what a wild sound ! i even like the fret buzz : it's sounds like as if you were playing bass! superb

  • love it love the sound

  • Thanks, like i say i kinda cringe when i hear this with all the buzzing of the slide on the frets. Live and learn .. I'm glad you like it though (: i think its got a good vibe even with my bad playing hehe :P

  • awesome

  • Thanks :) Luckily i'm better at slide now haha, i'd only been playing with a slide for 2 or 3 days when i recorded this. The guitar wasn't right for it either, it was a kramer with thin strings and low action :P

  • Sounds somekinda dangerous :) Gotta love that one!!

  • Great Sound

  • Thanks :) im glad you enjoy. Sorry for all the fret buzz but it was before i got my guitar (i was using my dads) and it had thin strings + low action plus i'd been playing only a month or two there.

  • I want to get out of the swamp! Arrrggh!
