Really good stuff ! It makes me want to sit down in the backyard with a few cold ones, a pack of smokes and keep hitting replay. Well done, very well done !!
Hi, I just seen that you're from the UK as well. Nottingham is a little far from Georgia. :-) Check out Mike Snowden, Porch Song here on YouTube. He's a great guy too. I bought his first album, Summer in the Fields and he sent over a free t-shirt with the cd. It's a great album if you like blues. Cheers
Hey Karl, I love this song. I don't where you live but there is a guy called Mike Snowden who makes some awesome cigar box guitars. He's from Marietta, Georgia. I'm sure he would help you out with your. He has some songs on YouTube too that are worth checking out. This song is really soulful and beautiful. Glad I stumbled across it. Cheers
Unfortunatly several thousand miles away from there haha :P but thanks for the nice comment! and i'll be sure to look him up, i'm always interested in hearin that kind of thing.
Unfortunatly i've never played one :/ I still have a wooden cigar box that i got a long time ago with the intention of building one but i've never got around to actually doing so.. Maybe i will one day though when i trust myself to actually do a good job with building one :P
Thanks =] I'm not too sure which artists would be similar, there are a lot of good people doing stuff like this on youtube videos, but i suppose fred mcdowell has some songs that have that more melancholy sound, john lee hooker, some early muddy waters songs (especially the acoustic ones if you can find them), then some songs of RL burnside and Junior Kimbrough.
You gotta look around i suppose, im glad you like the sound though ^_^
@karl198 Thanks. I am going to look up on those guys. And I know which guys on youtube you are talking about. I have compulsively listened to their songs as well.
Thanks, like i say i kinda cringe when i hear this with all the buzzing of the slide on the frets. Live and learn .. I'm glad you like it though (: i think its got a good vibe even with my bad playing hehe :P
Thanks :) Luckily i'm better at slide now haha, i'd only been playing with a slide for 2 or 3 days when i recorded this. The guitar wasn't right for it either, it was a kramer with thin strings and low action :P
Thanks :) im glad you enjoy. Sorry for all the fret buzz but it was before i got my guitar (i was using my dads) and it had thin strings + low action plus i'd been playing only a month or two there.
hi,
i cant find any famous songs in this style, with the exception of a few ry cooder songs, is there a cd with more of this kind of music?

what pedals did you use?

@kspocover
No pedals used, this was a few years ago when all i had was my vox VT50 amp. So i'm using the on board digital reverb and tremelo :P

They should have put this in the Deliverance film with Burt Reynolds instead of the duelling banjos.

Fantastic. Great job, really comes from the soul. It has to in order to play the blues, and brother you nailed it.

A few old time "swamp blues" artists are Slim Harpo, Lonesome Sundown, or Lazy Lester. Check them out!

it's good to add a little vibrato or chorus effect when playing tunes like this, wouldn't you agree? Your tune has a nice feel to it, very earthy

man, this is totally awesome!
nothin' like some good ol' swamp blues.
