  • i fuckin love that movie

  • By having the character rewind, the director is acknowledging that we want (or expect) to see the family win out over the killers, and he is not going to give us that satisfaction.

"Funny Games" was intended to be a commentary on violence in media, hence a scene like this one.

  • yep, works like a charm. now run along.

  • 20 people seems to disagree.. retard...

  • Good movie... but this scene was stupid

  • Thumbs up if you watched this movie and killed Paul and Peter when they tried to kill you at home.

  • this scenes is very weird

  • This scene makes me so angry

  • The movie is great but this scene make them look invincible. No chance for the victims...

  • @Vazquez122755 This movie was classified as a psychological thriller. But there's no mystery, it's not scary, and it's not complex. I don't care that it didn't have a happy ending - but I expected it to have a fucking point other than "You suck for choosing to watch a violent movie." What kind of presumptive pretentious bullshit point is that? How should I have known it was going to be a violent movie? I wanted to see a good psychological thriller. Art? No. Waste of fucking time.

  • look out.......man hes dead.....oh....

  • that stupid ass nigga yeld look out when he already got shot. stupid ass

  • ok.......im asking for a sane person that can explain me the rewind scene....was it some psychological shit that the writter thought of...well it's poor...and to my taste very unoriginal!

  • @Mrjablles69 It's the writer's way of screwing with the audience.

It's the same reason why when I see one of my friends browsing facebook, I leave a status update telling them that I'm screwing with their minds XD

  • @HaniiPuppy kinda understood that from the begining...but it's still lame......and cheesy.......the writer is just a kubrick wannabe

  • @Mrjablles69 No man, the rewind scene was just a pretentious way of saying "Look! This movie is unique and ironic because the characters talk directly to the audience! There is no real plot, this movie is designed mess with you." It's a gimmick.

  • this was the stupidest movie lol

  • that was the stupidest comment...

  • @notsoseriousanymore thanks for your input.

  • thanks for the comment.

  • this doesn't even make sense, but thanks for uploading this scene i thing its by far the most interesting thing in that movie xD lol

  • geeta172. Y the fuck would I wanna c the same film in another language. There so different arnt they! Lol

  • I don't get. They kept saying no cheating in this movie but the guy is allowd to have do overs?

  • @ the german one's better!

  • The movie provides numerous opportunities in which triumph might be possible but rigorously checks off each one. If Haneke is teasing his audience, it's because they know the drill of how things are supposed to go, but he's not playing along.

  • Comment removed

  • Haneke's ultimate point is that violence is something to be feared and despised, not relished and applauded. Because we sympathize with the victims not the killers, there is no catharsis at the end. Anna does not grab the gun and wipe out her captors, as the "rewound" portion of the film suggests would happen in the Hollywood version of Funny Games.

  • YouSmellLikeACat! What The Fuck! Lol . No there not Angels . Jesus! Lol

  • The movie constantly breakes the fourth wall (audience). Its meant to do so...so stop wondering. It turns the rules of a horror movie against the watcher. Usually its you rewinding a scene. ;)

  • Don't you just love irony? xD

  • When i saw this scene on my tv I first thought that iw was something wrong on my tv lol. :P And Paul sounds like a chinese guy when its backwords

  • This scene just pissed me off.

  • "You shouldn't have done that, Anzu. You aren't allowed to break the RULES.. You FAILED.

Now, a PENALTY GAME!! Mind Crush!!" *whips out Duel Monsters cards*

  • Lol I thought this was interesting but it was like WTF?!? since nothing supernatural or impossible had happened then all of a sudden he rewinds time. Lmfao wut?

  • I LOVED the idea of this scene, its reaching out to the audience. We are so used to the rule that we think exists, in which the protaginist wins, but there really is no rule to making films, and it makes you believe the good guy is going to win, but then mindfucks you, and really the antaginist is allowed to be victorius, brilliant

  • i like it ^^

  • I watched this last night, and from this point on the movie was a total mindfuck to me.

The surrealistic aspects of the breaking of the 4th wall and the ending that explained everything was great. I can see why it would cause butthurt to people, though.

  • i got so mad when i saw this part , like whyd they have to rewind that ..

  • I think they were supposed to be fallen angels or something going around collecting souls. That was my interpretation of this movie.

  • omg when i saw this part i was like what the heck this is messed up

  • hardest movie to watch for me ever.. very sad

whole time i was watching this i was thinking - what if it would happen to me, what would i do?!

  • Comment removed

  • if you havent sceen this mvie your lucky

  • if you ever learn to spell you're lucky, until then, fuck off.

  • @notsoseriousanymore Are you fucking kidding me? The description is a grammaristic disaster. Get your dumb ass to school and die trying, boy.

  • @notsoseriousanymore fuck you nigga it's not like you made the movie so you fuck off. and i do know how to spell nigga so shut the fuck up.

  • The first time I saw this, first I was "Why is he trying to find the remote after his brother died?" and then when I found the remote and he started 'Rewinding' I thought something was wrong with the DVD or something was getting fucked up on the disk

  • @mgrchip same here i was like wtf whats wrong with my tv

  • @mgrchip lmfao same , i was like "fuckin tv"

  • why was there the rewind secene? to make the viewer a sucker?

  • basically... yes... but on a more... well, interpretive level... that is the purpose...

  • @notsoseriousanymore btw ever noticed he's saying " you're not allowed to break the rules", perhaps that's a reference to the rewind scene - because it's breaking the rules by which movies are made. i suppose it''s actually a method to get back the viewer's attention. like in the books, when you suddenly come across a sentence/word/phrase that really looks out of place. it makes you stop and think. thanks for the upload :).

  • Thanks for the terrible quality IDIOT!

  • thanks for being negative... go somewhere else and find this scene instead of bitching here... i COULD upload a better quality... but i wont... i wont because i don't care about you people... go away... i'm tired...

  • one of the worst movies ever.. I'm so glad it flopped !

  • then why the fuck have you come here just to watch a scene from it?? people come to watch a scene from it because they like it, but retards like you just come in to criticize what WE like... take a look at the likes and dislikes... you're a minority here... so get the fuck out.

  • @notsoseriousanymore because I wasted 2 hours of my life watching this piece of garbage.. I don't care if some cunt like you can't stand when someone disagrees with him.. just go kill yourself, do us a favour

  • sooo... that's just the first thing you do when you feel injustice, or whatever the hell you want to call it... you go bother people who actually enjoyed it... you know, i bet there was an off switch, or a door you could walk out of if you hated it so much. Why would i go kill myself? because one retarded little youtuber tells me to? let me emphasize that... ONE RETARD. I would only do you a favor, and i don't feel much like doing that, and i don't feel much like wasting more time on you.

  • @notsoseriousanymore i finished watching to see how it ended.. and now I'm writing about how awful and pretentious the film was.. youtube is for watching videos and discussion.. I'm free say what I want here.. and no fuckface like you is going to stop me

  • erm... i guess i should tell you that i as the administrator of this video, i actually DO have the power to stop you... but i'm not for censor, so i'm not gonna do it, and infact, i don't remember saying you couldn't do it, i just said you shouldn't... fuckface.

  • @notsoseriousanymore i don't care.. you can fuck your whole video.. cunt

  • erm... fuck my whole video? you're not even trying anymore, just randomly throwing curse words at me... i'm not wasting another minute on you, whatever you comment back with, will be deleted, it's useless to respond.

  • I personally enjoyed this film and this scene in particular because it was such a cruel "screw you" to the audience. This is more than just a 'bad guys always win' thing. It's a horror film with self awareness of the predictability of genre it takes place. It's what Scream was trying to be, but failed when it came to pointing out all the commentary of horror movies in a way that wasn't just being redundant.

  • In regards to this scene, Haneke, the film maker, said: "When it was rewound, there was total silence, because they understood that they had let themselves be totally manipulated. Because they had applauded a murder." What a smart ass. :P

  • Am all the only one who loved Paul's constant breaking of the 4th wall?

  • @SnowflakeInHell Nope, this movie is great how it is. The people who don't like this movie are the people who don't realize that the director is making fun of the audience with the entire movie.

  • This movie is terrible.

  • Why the hell did you put Cod Cod4 and wow in the tags? You trying to sucker in more views? lol

Whatever, this scene was probably one of the best in the movie.

  • i don't know, i left my computer alone when it was uploading, it must have been my little brother, since i hate cod4.

  • @notsoseriousanymore riiiight... it's always my little brother who did this or that... I didn't leave the insulting comment, my brother did! Ok... It's been done on youtube a million times already.

  • well, i think you will find yourself outnumbered on that opinion...

  • @notsoseriousanymore i agree. The movie is very good. Anything can happen in a movie.

  • @SuperAl19 ikr!

  • @SuperAl19 2deep4u

  • If you didn't like this ending, then definitely don't watch the Deadpool movie whenever it is made... that guy breaks the fourth wall constantly...

  • I just watched this movie for the first time and didn't understand that scene at all. Now that I have read the reviews I get it but imo was it really necessary? I understand that it pretty much is a fuck you to the audience this isn't going to be another regular somewhat happy ending but why couldn't it just be an unhappy ending without that scene? I like movies with sad or unhappy endings because the good guys don't win every time in real life.

  • plz don't call me stupid but i have a question... i just watched this movie and saw this scene but i didn't understand it... like how did he get that remote control and why was it there... i mean i doesn't make sense... can someone plz explain??

  • It doesn't seem like anyone appreciates the Breakage of the Fourth Wall, a trope that's been going on since Ancient Greek theater.

  • when i saw this and he said wheres the remote i was like WTF? then i got confused?

  • This scene sucks because the rewinding does not fit into the rest of the movie. I'd completely agree that the non-Hollywood ending is great, but really, it just left a sour taste in my mouth to watch them rewind it. The content just doesn't match for me.

  • This is so brilliant because it's like the bad guy wins...it's so original! And the audience obviously appreciates it because of its brilliance.

  • here is a question why does being realistic mean being unhappy ?

  • finally a self aware film. thats rare these days with films that either play it safe or are too self absorbed to be truly genious.

  • its a realistic movie, yet where does the rewinding fit into it at all? can someone explain please?

  • @MMAFANtastic well, the phsycos are pretty funny, so it kind of makes sense that there is one silly scene in it. besides, whats wrong with a little self awareness?

  • I read this is a true story but if it is how does rewind time.

  • I personally would've raped her in the ass, if she did that to me. Also, this movie sucked.

  • XD i was watching this on the dvd when i saw this i just laughed because WERE"S THE FING REMOTE i lold at that point

  • i hated this movie so much including this scene, this just made a horrible movie into a disgustingly ridiculous movie

  • when i first watched this movie ... i thought i accidentily pressed rewind... im so stupid lol , i was like hella fliping out :D

  • If I remember right, Funny Games was supposed to be a jab at America's obsession with violence, especially in the entertainment industry, yet have a happy ending, more or less.

Either way, I loved this movie. (Breaking the fourth wall two or three times? Yes please!) That, and I loved the antagonists more than the protagonists. :/

  • i understand it's supposed to be an artsy scene, but it kind of fails i think. i guess it makes the bad guys even more unlikeable (fuck they can even reverse time?), but in the end not only is this a whole film about a horrible torture/death with no reward for the audience whatsoever (unless you're a psychopath), but also one that loves the kill so much, it turns it into an over-kill.

  • best scene (;

  • Lol he yelled look out too late!

  • I liked the movie but not this scene.

  • this scene was fucking epic

  • I recommend you watch the German version.

This pales in comparison to it.

  • Only seen bits of this film, but after seeing this one scene, the sheer brilliance of it! I have to buy it on dvd, it looks awsome!

  • This film was awesome up till this point. Then it just became stupid. I don't mind a unhappy ending, and liked the realism that bad guys don't always lose. But that was just dumb.

  • well, if you're fine with unhappy endings, then this part is not for you. it is meant for the people who can only accept hollywood endings, and by doing this, they're breaking the 'rules', so that those people get it; EVERYTHING CAN HAPPEN, the hero doesn't necessarily win!

  • @Bainshie Bainshie, you can be in my 10%(and shrinking)club of non retarded people on youtube. An unhappy ending-done right-beats the shyt out of a happy ending any day,but this is just simply the gayest&worst scene in movie history, dropping a 4 star, unique horror movie to a B-grade piece of crap, simply w/better acting...the editor should be shot in the back of his emptyhead,b/c that scene defines what belongs on the cutting room floor.Pitt could've got the gun after the shot&a sad ending proceed

  • what was that all about?????? I don't get it

  • Stupid!

  • they should've called this movie:

"My Father, the Biggest Pussy in the World"

  • congratulations! your comment made number 100! just a shame it sucked... try a bit harder for 200... will you? that applies for anyone else too.

  • @SadlifeProduction no, the dad really did try hard in that movie. they broke his leg. not much you can do with that kinda of pain.

  • If a movie could flip me the middle finger...This would be as close as one could get.

  • i think the audio being played backwards might be from the german version

  • @gunterdak `no i reversed the reversing part its not german

  • the reason they can pull off such a flawless killing spree is because they can control time

  • he should have killed the other guy

  • This is my favourite scene. I don't understand how people can not like it!

Have people forgotten the nouvelle vague so quickly that they can't appreciate self-awareness in a film?

  • that's how i feel, i just try'n ignore those who don't seem to like it.

  • @kikis2s2 I love the self awareness idea and this scene is funny, but come on if he loves games so much than he shouldnt cheat if he loses

  • i dont care how anyone tries to say this was a move of genious....the movie still fucking sucks =)

  • I know a lot of people didn't like this, but I honestly kind of did (mostly because I was sort of rooting for the bad guys, as strange as that may be). The theme of the movie was simply entertainment (that's pretty clear when Paul talks directly to the audience twice in the movie). He grabs the remote and rewinds to emphasize the element of entertainment, to act as if he's going on a journey himself with the audience. That's my opinion, at least.

  • I love that scene this is genius.

  • Amazing scene

  • That scene would be incredible for a scary movie like parody. Paul grabs the remote, Ann sees that and reacts instantly grabbing another remote, then the 2 characters start fighting; Paul tries to rewind and Ann to fast forward. Peter rushes to the fight with a third remote to help Paul and tries to change the channel on the cable tv but he makes a mistake and switches to a documentary. A cheetah shows up following the smell from that meat Peter was eating earlier and... well u get the picture!

  • This is a rip off movie of all time, Yeah this scene got the audience reaction and at the same pissed off alot of people, I clearly remember everyone in the theatre shouting "money back" "money back"

  • so you saw it in texas then...?

  • @notsoseriousanymore Hey, I'm from Texas? What's that supposed to mean? lol jk. But hey, you're right about Texans. We are kind of notorious for demanding our money back when we feel that we've been ripped off. I have chanted "money back" many a time at the theater.

  • @MRKAMPAC Can you speak fucking english?

  • @RemjianDrummer Yes I can how about you?

  • This scene was really unnecessary, but this movie is still great...

  • yeah, unnecessary for some, but some of the audiences have gotten too used to automatic hollywood endings, so they need to break the rules a bit...

  • @notsoseriousanymore mmmhh...That's a great point, I think your right now.

  • @notsoseriousanymore

I don't understand how everyone dying but one of the psychos also dying would have been a Hollywood ending? A typical Hollywood ending would have been "the bad guys die, everybody lives". It would be small comfort rather than none at all. This isn't so much about educating the audience that formulaic endings have become predictable so much as it's about taunting the audience and cheating them emotionally in a cruel psychological experiment.

  • The shooting itself was already unexpected and sudden, bolder and more daring than saying "the villains will win and you can't touch them so there". It was reminiscent of early Tarantino stuff, and would have sent the message that no one is immune to violence, even those who revel in and worship it.

This scene spoiled the narrative, and perhaps more than any other aspect of the film shows the true "fantasy of violence" "psychological experiment" intent of the entire feature.

  • well that was a huge FUCK YOU to the audience

  • this scene is stupid and makes no sense there is no explanation of it whatsoever.

  • @moroni89 The scene was there to taunt the audience, to show that they could have made a hollywood ending but actively chose not to. There weren't worried about if it made sense, only about mocking the audience with the ending they thought they were going to get.

  • but mostly, it was to FRIGHTEN the audience, putting them in doubt of weather or not their precious main characters would survive, when they do stuff like this (breaking the rules) people tend to get afraid, because the movie doesn't HAVE to follow the 'rules' anymore, they can do whatever they like, kill whoever they want.

  • @moroni89 its called breaking the fourht wall, you silly little person.

  • what the fck why didt they put a rewind scene in the movie, kinda redicalous. to bad naomi watts dies

  • this is one of the best movies i've seen

  • that shits hella retarded..oh yeah let me just rewind life...pfft

  • asshole.

  • @notsoseriousanymore your mother

  • uhu... that didn't make any sense at all.

  • Peter and Paul would be a lot of fun to play with, I'm sure ^.^ i'm fond of those two

  • yeah, but i'd rather play on their team :D

  • @notsoseriousanymore that would be fun too! the endless possibilities those two present are wonderful.

  • learn to spell, and while your at it, get yourself a good taste, you fucking asshole. just because you are to retarded to understand it, doesn't make the creators retarded. showing this movie to you, would be like playing mozart, for a tree-frog.

  • The acting was superb; if I saw the actors who played those preppy dweebs I would choke them out terminally. LOL!

  • Haha, he's kinda breaking the fourth wall, but I wish life was truly like this! This is simply genius!

  • nothing less.

  • this scene is not stupid!

    its fucking genius!

  • yes, some people just don't get it, so i just ro'll with it. This is just a symbol of no matter how hard the family tries, there is NO escape whatsoever.

  • Have you ever noticed that she shoots him with a shotgun, and then 5 seconds later the other guy says "Look out!" ?

a little delayed don't ya think. lol

    FAIL!

  • yeah this part was where a pretty good movie got weak in my opinion. If this was possible, why not just go for the remote when the killers leave and rewind time and beat them.

  • cuz they don't know it rewinds time

  • Go ahead hate me but i have to say this movie was stupid, i mean they rewinded fucking time! ok also somene would have noticed especailyl when she got out of the house she could have knocked on someones door. all my freiends and i lold at the end with that stupid look on the guys face.

  • i don't hate you, i was confused at this part too :D (and some of the scenes where directly retarded.)

  • he should have said "YOU FAIL!!1"

  • or: 'you just made an epic fail young lady!'

  • You failed

  • thats funny

  • God that's unfair

  • this part,is so crazy o.O

  • when i saw that in the movie i was like wtf just happened? lol but thats an awesome scene

  • I love this movie.

  • are they angels or what?
