  • There is no fiddle and road noise because this is only one side of the stereophonic mix. The other side (for whatever reason) is dropped.

Probably the 3.5mm connector was only 2 conductor.

  • Yep!

  • gram parsons is the only reason i listen to the stones

  • This is one of the Gram Parsons/Keith Richards collaborations that went by osmosis (Keith's term) to the Rolling Stones. Gram was interviewed saying Country Honk came first, and later they added horns and a more rock/blues

vibe to increase the potential for it to be a #1 record.

  • I prefer this to Honky Tonk Women

  • @jackflash1996 I do too. I`m a big fan of Keith Richards acoustic playing.

  • Nothin' these guys couldn't do

  • Best version!

  • A GREAT LITTLE COUNTRY SONG , !! FROM THAT GREAT ALBUM LET IT BLEED !!

  • Gimme Gimme The Honky Tonk Blues. Mmm, Honky Tonk Woman?

  • @DavidTheHedgehog1000 no shit sherlock

  • @DavidTheHedgehog1000 keep up Dave

  • 1 person is.. well... an idiot

  • i think i like it better without fiddle

  • I definitely love this version.

  • love this version, raw. gritty. pure pre commercial stones

  • @Hashassin03

    GOOD POSTING!

  • Why not say in description that this is not the original version?

  • WoW, This one I remember from days ago :)))

    Thanks :)

  • Funny Jagger's voice...Doesn(' sound the same....Is this the rolling stones ???

  • Funny Jagger's voice...Doesn(' sound the same....Is this the rolling stones

  • I like this better than "Honky Tonk Woman." Shhh.... ;)

  • @shelovesuke So did Mick, in fact he wanted to release this version instead of "Honky Tonk Woman" but Atlantic Records told him "NO"!!! The Rolling Stones always had a thing for American country Music, "Dead Flowers", "High and Dry", "Far Away Eyes", etc.........This one is missing the fiddle track.......

  • in jackson.... another country honky tonk stone great

  • mick is "rock" keith is "roll"

  • I wan´t to get reaaaaaally drunk and pass out... lol

  • No fiddle but you can really hear the great acoustic riffing without it.

  • perfect to get drunk.....gimme gimme gimme the honky tonk glasss

  • La verdad es que soy un adicto a la cocaina,,,disfruto muhco de la musica del bocon,,,pero ese hijo de puta me hiso adicto a la mercaa jojojo

  • Es ver good music i love r. stones..j.gama from london..ok by..

  • wheres the fiddle?

  • @bobbylee1557 This is not the version I know (with the traffic in the background at the end) (from the Let it Bleed LP)

  • @bobbylee1557 It SHOULD be Byron Berline

  • @bobbylee1557 i was thinking the same thing. maybe this is the mono version lol

  • There is no fiddle in this version!! WTF!!

  • @tootired76 And no car horn at the beginning...

  • I could swear they from the south lol

they were inspired by Hank Williams

(Honkey tonk blues) to write this song

  • oh I love it 5 stars for sure*****

  • For the Connoisseurs: Hurry and go and listen to the REAL version (with honk and fiddles) on YouTube ! (NothingButTheStones)

  • It's a Cover Song - The Band Is Called :Stars At Studio 99 On The Legacy Record label .Album is called The Rolling Stones -A Unique Tribute Performed by -Stars At Studio 99 .

  • track three, disc three, 'the black box' by the rolling stones, 'country honk'. thats where this recording is from.

  • They don't make them like this anymore.

  • @phillydog17

    But these songs are forever!

  • I fortuously bought the Let it Bleed Decca Mono album second hand in a welsh record shop in 1972, i believe this is now worth a few bob. My favourite composition from the Stones and I can even play it on the guitar

  • *****

  • the siones played this much faster and it became honky tonk women

  • Am I deaf, or is there no honk and no fiddle on that version ? This song is amputed !

  • I agree, this is a great version also ... I am guessing this must be a Let it Bleed studio outtake ... It is unmistakeably Byron Berline on fiddle ... I think the final released cut is a little tighter and if you listen to Keith's intro chops on final album version they are crisper ... However, I agree with the earlier poster. The looser structure of this version showcases some great fiddle playing which is more pronounced that the final released cut ... A great post! Thanks!

  • I keep trying to find the version off of the "Let It Bleed" album. This one is close but it's not let it bleed. I was 20 when I bought the album, fresh home from a tour of duty in Vietnam, tooling around in my 66 Chevy Impala SS listening to this and other great stuff of the period. Wish I could give those years another go around for sure.

  • Hi Skutt, the REAL version has just been posted by NothingButTheStones ! I too prefer the "Let it bleed" version !

  • Feck me, but I love both versions.

Call me a fanboy, I guess.

  • Byron Berline on fidle. Classic!!!!!

  • THANK YOU Gram Parsons!

  • Now THIS IS Country honk.

    All good.

  • thank you for restoring my good mood.

    I love this song,

    Paul

  • I was stunned when I first heard the Let It Bleed version, as I had only heard the original single version for a while. I have to say I much prefer this version (that is, the version with more pronounced fiddle) than the original; I'm more a fan of their oldest stuff, when they covered old blues and country standards.

  • Hank Williams meets the Rolling Stones. Love this!

  • does sound like hank some, but mostly Ghram Parsons

  • great song not as good as honky tonk women but still awesome

  • One of the best songs ever...but...why can't I hear the violin much....it's freaking awesome on my stereo. Also, has anyone posted the version from Rock n Roll Circus? Thanks

P.S. It's hilarious when you play this song in your car and people can hear it when you're at a red light...the looks on their faces when they hear the hillbilly version of Honky Tonk Women is priceless.

  • We're damn lucky to have the Stones. This is just fantastic.

  • god bless this track and all who listen to it. satisfaction, your a %100 right. rock on brothers,it ts the honky talk women, gimme those honky talk blues

  • The stones have some sick country/rock licks

  • Exact version as Let It Bleed before overdubs of fiddle and car horns. Nice to hear it stripped down.

  • a fiddle and violin are the same instrument you morons.

  • im pretty sure theyre jokin since this is country version of honky tonk women in country its called fiddle....now squel like a piggy....just kiddin

  • I got a fever, and the only prescription is...MORE FIDDLE!!!!!!!!

  • BEST

  • Many are asking where is the violin? They should be asking, "where is the Fiddle?"

  • yeah

  • One of the best songs ever made.

  • i rathes country honk woman, the electric version but is still great

  • sittin in a bar.

On the street , the summer sun it shines.

    Wasted days and wasted nights.

    Thanks.

    Paul

  • @PaulTettam spent mine like that too......

  • it's a fiddle, not a violin !! Where did it go ???

  • What is this from without the violin? I really want to know?

  • yes ... where is the violin?? ... this appears to be a variant cut it is not the original off "Let it Bleed"!

  • you are both right - glad somebody put this online but the damm violin is really missing

  • ... but where the hell is the violin ?!!!

  • Thanx for adding it ! One of my favorites !
