Johnny won 3 years in a row at a professional level salsa competition in Los Angeles. He and his brothers pioneered LA style salsa.

Salsa is his career both in music and dance... so not sure why you are so concerned about his style or legitimacy. What is salsa? A dance that formed in south america/cuba? Or a technical structured competition based movement style? Strange that he is contracted to work at over 70 countries.

Johnny WAS a great dancer. In Los Angeles NOBODY knows who he is anymore. He is a NOVELTY in Europe, Australia, the Middle East etc because salsa is a FAD in those countries that will soon be forgotten. His relies on old, overused patterns that are NEW to the rest of the world and OLD and BORING in Los Angeles.

But seriously, in Los Angeles, THAT is considered garbage and not salsa dancing. And don't get me started on his singing career. My God, what a joke. It fits right in with his BURLESQUE show. So, the point is he may have been famous and noteworthy in Los Angeles at one time, today he is NOBODY here.
