  • i think three dog night is the best bands in the country and even the world the liyrics and the people are awesome i love three dog night thumb upYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • @grapefruit517 Give me a break. You can hate on Negron all you want but he has performed many of the same songs without the other 2 and he also sounds great. He was and still is a great performer as are all 3 of them. All three of them were special in their own way and all contributed to the success of the TDN. No need to bad mouth Negron.

  • @gregboyds Fabulous lore; thanks for sharing. Always been in love with Australia and New Zealand. Well it must have been a pretty cold night to be a three dog night LOL

  • Good live rendition. This is my favorite Three Dog Night song. Love the melody, the lyrics and the philosophy behind the song. Beautiful song of peace and love.

  • I was working in the control room during this concert. What a great time!

  • Lost :P

  • But Cory doesn't smile anymore. Maybe once in awhile. But he used to smile all the time. He was having so much fun. He smiled all the time and he has a great smile.

It makes me sad for him. Makes me want to comfort him and ask him what's wrong.

  • Great song

  • These Rascals were awesome.

  • @PJZONE Thanks so much for your reply. I loved your uploads and am looking to buy this.

  • Full orchestra!! Just love it. The best part of the older music I grew up with. Nothing much electronic and sounds fantastic! Thanks for posting.

  • To the uploader, could you tell me more about this concert? I'd love to try to get ahold of it. I love the pieces they do and the energy in Cory and Danny's performances. I'd be ever so grateful. Thanks for a fantastic upload.

  • @obscuremedia you can buy the dvd of this concert on their official web site Three dog night.com

  • @grapefruit517 I totally agree with all of this. Danny and Cory are the heart of the group. Negron by virtue of his behaviour toward Danny and Cory doesn't need to be rewarded for that. I love how sort of 'aged' this verison is. One can tell that both Danny and Cory are sort of taking it easy....the road longest travelled to get to Shambala so to speak. An amazing version fo this song. Thanks to the uploader.

  • Long live Hurley, Charlie and Vincent

  • I love Cory's pleasant smile. Why did they sing this song so slow? Well, variety is the spice of life. This band was the first one I ever saw in concert. What memories.

  • @blueberries4ever ......They also did a song...."Out in the Country" that is from this concert. For Whatever reason (WHO KNOWS) You Tube took it off of here.

  • not missing a thing

  • They've still got the magic. It would be great if Chuck Negron were still with the band, but that's life I guess. It's sad.

  • Evergreen...TDN are ever green ....

  • Had some Valium gentlemen? Half speed sucks. WAKE UP!!

  • @ShaneMcCrae At what point does this song go into half speed?

  • @Sigurd82 Compared to the original this is way too slow. We play this songs as well, it was written by my audiologist's brother. Well done but please get it up to tempo.

  • This is my theme song !!! I want it played over and over AT&T my crossing over celebration!!!

  • Without Negrone, it's not 3 dogs night...Ego, ego, ego, that's why they don't want to bring him back...So sad.

  • @grapefruit517 i think the 3 being together would raise everyone's performance...these two guys being intolerant towards a guy who cleaned up his act decades ago doesn't say much for them imo; and the THREE would be a huge draw for a major tour, arena worthy perhaps; but not if they wait 10 more years.

  • Wow, I need to use this song in a future BRC slide show.

  • I agree with 4ever... JImmy Greenspoon is a great keyboard player...and I would also add that Mike is a very tasteful guitarist...Got to do a gig with these guys in the early 80;s as an opening act...Great bunch of guys to hang with all were the orginals except for the bassist ...Joe had already left...

  • Saw these Gentlemen @ 3 yrs. ago at the Island Casino in Harris, MI~Would've seen them again over Easter wknd., but had a Family emergency. They were GREAT (at a 35 yr. old's perspective...lol)!!!

  • Things change, and as we all know - not always for the best. Fortunately in the case of TDN the music is still spectacular. I attended a show a short time ago and left every bit as impressed as I was listening to the group as a teenager. The may have lost a big piece of the group but four of them have been producing music together since day one. They're still fantastic!

  • From This same concert does ANYONE know how to get the song "Out in the Country"?? I have seen it and can't find it for some reason. THANKS ALL!!

  • Danny still has got the voice, for sure. Can't help but miss Chuck, though. Doesn't have the same energy without him......But! My all-time fave keyboard man Mr. Greenspoon still producing killer soundscapes. The most over-looked and under-appreciated organ player of all-time!

  • it was dannys band not chucks, so get over it~ the 3 in "3 dog night" has nothing to do with the number of lead singers~

  • This them ( Three Dog Nights ) Less Negron, SHAME !

  • this was the first 45 I had bought love this song -how does the light shine

  • I used this as the music in my fishing vid. Love these guys...

  • loves it!

  • Lost brings me here.

  • They still Sound awesome

  • Worked on teh same bill with them in West Palm once in teh 70's......pretty good after the show partyers .....Hoyt Axton and a couple of ladys were there.........the Old Colonades Hotel on Singer Island probably still hasnt recovered..........ended the night at King Husseins compound........it would kill me dead now ........great memory....these post brought back alot of thoughts of past good tmes...........thanks guys,,,,,,,one of the band that tour

  • Sounds as good as ever to me.

  • Sounds as good and better.

  • 82sweetheart Glad to see there's someone out there who shares my taste! ;o)

  • I usually hate live performances because they sound awful. But I'm surprised at how good Three Dog Night sounds in their live videos... it's like almost studio recording quality.

  • Doesn't this song just make you feel happy? Great voices, with or without Chuck Negron. Strings go over the top a bit for my liking, but it's still a lovely if nonsensical song. Cory Wells has just the coolest voice.

  • @Johnboysings ~ I agree with your comment ~ this song has always made me feel happy ~ I remember hearing it for the first time when I was in 2nd grade!!

  • Hearing Three Dog Night sure brings back memories.

    Thanks.

  • Not to mention that Chuck Negron's drug habit almost caused the band to break up. That's why his kicked out.

  • We grew old together. I loved them since we were in our 20's. This is a beautiful piece of memorabilia. God bless them, they are still in the music business. It's a shame Chuck took another road, in music by himself.

  • I love the original of this back in 1975.. i was only 4 years old at that time.

  • Honestly, music like this doesn't exist anymore. Today we have MIDI and fake musicians. I played this song for my wife, and she LOVED IT!

  • Is this the original "SINGER" for this song....I know it's not the whole original lineup..just asking about the singer Thanks!

  • @scallly64 Thats the original dude.

  • @MaharishiMahaYogi He did'nt age to well..wasn't sure...Thank You!

  • @scallly64 It's Corey, yes.

  • Great song, nothing like it! Yes there are some flaws in this performance and recording. If you've got something as melodic and better, email me, I would love to record you!

  • Get these guys into the RNR HOF - ASAFP!

    post haste.

  • i still love it......

  • Comment removed

  • Hate that about Chuck Negron.. miss his falsetta

  • 45 and stil LOVE IT ...........

  • Are these guys still around ?? My Mom saw them in the 70's .... Where are tthey ???

  • I've washed away my troubles with the Three Dog Night music .

  • I first saw them in 1968 in St. Louis, MO. I wish someone had a video of 'Heavy Church', my favorite Three Dog Night song by a huge margin . . .

    *¬◊

  • What a enjoyable, feel-good song.

  • I am going to see them to night First time for this bull frog

  • Going see them tonight! <3

I drove 12 hours to Grand Isle, LA to see them last month and they were a "NO SHOW"! Excited about tonight. :)

  • Going see them tonight! I drove over 10 hours last month to Grand Isle, LA to see them and they were a NO SHOW. Looking forward to tonight.,

  • God I'm old, but I love this song.

  • Simply awesome... Love these guys and have most of their materials.

  • I LOVE Three Dog Night! Always will!

Their music reminds me of growing up in Australia!

And what would they be without that CRAZY and HILARIOUS Jimmy Greenspoon!

    This concert is unbelievably amazing!

Hey Jimmy, do you remember when I took you sailing in Bermuda around 1980ish?

I still love you brother! I hope you're doing well!

Best Wishes, Your friend, Tyrone Reveen

    Streamer Effects International.

  • Hurley, Jin, Sawyer, and Charlie<3

  • Love 3dn.. Soundtrack to my childhood. PLEASE come full circle, and bring back Chuck, I think he has proven that he's clean and worthy {Although obviously I was not close to the situation}

  • the first album i ever bought. with my own money was. a three dog night record.

  • How these guys are not in the R&R HOF is a CRIME! When you have groups like ABBA and the freaking Stooges, yet not 3Dog Night? These guys need in!

  • Sounds great, but they need to bury the hatchett with Chuck. He seems to have his life in order now

  • absolutely frickin brilliant- precious sounds indeed!!

  • Awesome song :)

  • The band sounds great but is missing their spark plug -- drummer Floyd Sneed. He was their rock. This drummer's OK -- but he's playing like a cover gig, not the driving engine that Floyd was.

  • Cory Wells, Danny Hutton, you have brought so much joy to my life and inspiration to my musical career. Chuck Negron too, it's a shame that he's not part of it anymore. I thank you guys and will never forget the happiness you brought to me and many others. And I will never forget you when and wherever I sing.

  • Cory had the most delicious smile and the way he moved to the songs really moved me. He had this lightness about him, a happiness, this is not seen in any of these most recent videos. Come on Cory just one smile that's all ask! Why so serious, it's only rock and roll!

  • @ohbeana hes one of the best singers by far

  • @ohbeana Yes, I really agree with you. He was so charismatic and made the song come alive. There's an older video on Youtube where you just want to hug the guy!

  • This is a very nice updated version of this song!!! I like it:):):) They still got it, sounds good!!!

  • I loved this song as a kid; got readdicted to it as an adult...but now it is forever tied with an episode of one of my fav shows.."Criminal Minds."

  • Sadly, Cory has an obvious medical problem that keeps him in that stationary pose. I can't put my finger on it, but it's so obvious. He was the founder of 3 Dog Night. I hope he lives a long "normal" life though.

  • @diggyize Watch the video 60soldies uploaded where he is doing some kicks and dancing around.

Three Dog Night-Joy to the World. He doesn't look like he has a medical problem there.

  • A real feel good song. One of my favorites, of many.

  • I dedicate this to two beautiful women that this world lost way too early in life, almost one year ago, we loved you and miss you Kristin & Lorrainne..

  • I saw Three Dog Night live in Winnipeg in 2004 at October. They're still as great as in 1974.

  • I love playin this loud and proud

  • I've just discovered this song, thanks to a "Lost" episode :D.

  • @MultiHealer Me too :D. I like very much that episode, it was a funny moment when this song sounds.

  • I love these guys!

  • This video is so well done! I was just lucky enough to see this group perform a few days ago, at a concert with Marvin Hamlisch and several other artists which was filmed for the PBS fund drive in August. These guys still have it, big time.

  • Chuck, why don't you swallow your pride, and come back to 3DN? They need you back, brother! Hit #3 in Billboard. God bless!

  • Wow, what year was this. The synth sound is a nice addition. It kind of replicates the slow version that it transitions to into in Lost.

  • First pop song I remember noticing as a child...so hippy and just smooth sounding....Touching to see these guys still at it so many years later.

  • they were excellent here- nice to see the bands that get more refined over the years... seasoned, you might say...

  • Seems like they did O.K. without CHUCK NEGRON! He was great also but the bands successes where because of all of them.

  • Nice oldie

  • This was a classic from the best group of the 70's that had real harmony. Thanks for the trip back to the best time to be 18.

  • This song harkens back to a simpler time of my life, post high school and pre-fulltime job. Good times; few worries. Friends and parties...the whole world was a better place then too.

  • We saw Chuck and he has a book called three dog nightmare. Still RoCKs!

  • Hey isn't that Michael Allsup on guitar?

  • Shamabala (Key of A: 5E-4D-1A) brings back so many memories. Great song. It's great to see that singer play those Bar Chords :)

  • Shamabala (Key of A: 5E-4D-1A) brings back so many memories. Great song!

  • Ex lax you got a point. These groups nowadays are all marketing and minimal talent!!!!

  • They're missing the coolest dog, being Chuck Negron. Some seriously bad blood carries on after Chuck's bad-boy drug days caused an insurmountable rift. But this song (like so many of TDN's were so dynamically produced, you can't (with any seriousness) even compare todays repetitive (anybody & their nephew can lay down rap crap tracks & spew the same old "I'm misunderstood, slap my ho") bullshit, which even great labels could produce a ghetto CD for $3,000., yet rake in millions! Who's the Ho!

  • @laaxe I 2nd that about Chuck to bad they don't jam together anymore

  • @laaxe ... is SO RIGHT......... DAMMIT, Chuck threw it all away... and here Corey & Danny are, 40+ years later, giving us these great sounds -- what other group of their day had three great lead singers, who put out music pieces with a style that was so unique ?? Shambala, Celebrate, Mama Told Me ..., and so many more. I bought their first GHits album, and just had a FEAST. And I luv 'em to this day. Joy to the World may be my "least" favorite of their songs -- BUT I LUV IT !!

  • @laaxe Could I ask, why is it one is always attracted to the troublemaker when the other two did nothing? All the other members of the band stand by Cory and Danny? What's so special about Cuuck that he is out of the band and the rest of the band has stuck together.

  • @obscuremedia Personally, I've actually been a bigger fan of Danny Huttons ("Roses & Rainbows Are You"), well before the three got together. And having come to know Chuck a little better since my original post (several FB interactions, and watching his video posts), there is a huge ego there, let alone combined w/ the years of drug issues, causing the implosion. Guess I'm just wanting to see all three of them on the same stage, as neither alternative is as satisfying as what remains.

  • @laaxe I'd have to say there's an ease between Danny and Cory that I really don't think would have been there if Chuck were there also. I mean when Cory rolls that last bit of the song, we see Danny laughing. I don't think that would be there. There would be the visible tension. It would be like getting John Densmore back together with Ray Manzarek and Robbie Krieger just for sentimentality when there's too much water under the bridge over how properly to maintain Morrison's memory.

  • @obscuremedia Having performed with Ray (smart/grounded), appreciated Robby for his truly Page-like creativity, and hung with Densmore for an afternoon in the '80's (true victim of the '60's), let alone my own band/ego differences from the late 60's, I see TDN to be more an ego (and I agree, ease) conflict, as I do the remaining Doors, which is more a growth (or total lack of growth) issue by the two of three. But I fully agree, drama/tension (at my/their age), is completely unnecessary.

  • All these songs bring back memories of sleeping out in our tent in my backyard with my buddies a radio, junk food and pile of fun man I wish I could go back just for awhile.

  • nice microphones :D

  • These guys are timeless

  • i like how they conveniently edited out chuck negron in the video flashbacks.

  • @pantherquizzer do you see chuck on stage performing with the group? chuck left the group with alot of hard feelings, and wrote a book called "three dog nightmare" where he talks about most of his time with the group was a drug free for all. he dropped out of several rehab programs and was asked to leave by the group because of his addiction. negron had no desire to reunite with the group. you also dont see Floyd Sneed on drums. he was asked to join the reunion but declined.

  • you are all full of shit...........these are the classic groups and you should remember to respect your elders and the music.........they started it all.....

  • Victory or Dead

  • We make our own luck dude

  • I'll keep the rockers for the most part as long as they just play and sing.

When they are through playing and singing I'm through listening.

    Why couldn't it be politicians.

  • your all about the live shit hey

  • Its time to end the TDN and Chuck Negron feud.

  • This is absolute rubbish w/o Chuck Negron.

  • awesome.... I just felt like listening to this song a few seconds ago , and found it !!!

god bless the internet. T_T hahaha

  • Chuck needs to stop being a jerk and thinking he is bigger than the band itself. I would much rather see Chuck in there but Its obvious they can do just fine without him as long as Cory and Danny are there. Those 2 can carry iut just fine.

  • Me and my buddy went into a music store one day about 8 years ago and we both picked up guitars and started playing this song. I can play the rythym Tim played the lead. before we knew it we had an audiance. I get scared around people. But that was really cool.

  • They still rock!!! =D

  • For one thing it's almost 40 years later and another is that it's a live recording and not a studio recording.

  • And, they watered down the live recording down.

  • Hasn't Chuck been out of the band for something like 24 years? When he does concerts, he links his name to Three Dog Night and performs Three Dog Night hits. Some he sang on the albums and some he didn't. Reading youtube comments it seems fans of Chuck don't like Cory and Danny anyway, so why would it matter to them if he was with the band or not?

Three Dog Night comments are an interesting read for sure.

  • It sucks that Chuck isnt the group. I was reading Chuck's book "Three Dog Nightmare over the weekend. I didnt know Cory was a dick.

  • Cory was a good boy, his mother loved him.

  • Great song, But I like the way they sang it in the 70's, But I will always like the band Three Dog Night!

  • well done on this video i love the dubbing of the orginal version from 75 over the top of them now. Great they still sound great i have seen them a couple of times in the last five years at local casinos. worth the 35 bones

  • Hey, don't know much about this band, but based on hearing this and the original, can someone confirm that Chuck did the "high" / soprano voice? I really hear that missing!

  • You are correct, Chuck sang the high voice. I agree that it is missing a little "something" without his voice, although I do like this version.

  • LOST.....

  • Fame and money isn't everything

  • wat happend to tha nigga that used to beat on tha coconuts?

  • The man you're referring to was none other than the great Floyd Sneed. . .he had one of the best gooves in the business at this time. . .I think Floyd still plays once in a while with Chuck Negron...

  • LOST...

the one on the left looks like christian shepard..lol

  • LOST "Hurley in the bus" so good!!!!!

  • saw them last night @ Elkhart cnty fair in Goshen, In. very entertaining show. still sounded great! They do miss Chuck's vocals though. Anyone know what happened? possible feud? Let me know.

  • You can read on Chuck's biography on Wikipedia, the following is an excerpt: The rock and roll lifestyle took its toll on Negron, and by the time Three Dog Night disbanded in 1977, Negron had a serious heroin addiction problem. He eventually overcame his addiction and embarked on a solo career.

  • I just saw them also in Watertown. Corry said his voice wasn't 100%, but yes, I agree that they do miss Chucks voice. Would pay $200.00 to see them all preform together. Fat chance though..Read the book '3 Dog Nighmare' and it willexplain the hard feelings withen the group.

  • Aged to perfection! Let the music flow!

  • the beginning sounds a bit like "heart shaped box"

  • Still a damn good sound, more than 30 years later. It's a shame Chuck screwed himself -- he could have been on the stage with them !

  • im 34, and can remember my parents playing 3 dog night when i was real small, couldnt have been much older then 4ish. amazing to see and hear how wonderful they still are, especially this song, i love it

  • I got to see this wonderful band twice in the 70's; We were treated to a fantastic both times, and the first time we were mooned several times on the freeway, and we got streaked at the concert. That show was chocked full of entertainment. I am 55; great times!!

  • ROTFLMAO...pre-teen? I'm 50 and have been familiar with both bands for years. Please grow up and think before you insult another poster for merely expressing an opinion.

And who ever brought up those Disney blow-up dolls?

  • Rockapella, pffft. Friggin weak. They don't even qualify to carry Cory Wells jock strap. This man has been belting out tunes for close to 40 years with one of the most muscular, soulful voices this side of motown. Wake up!!!!

  • Check out Rockapella's version of this on YouTube. Much more dynamic, and they don't sound drugged out. They can also still hit the high notes.

  • @rakshasa7 Rockapella sucks; get a grip.

  • I wish I could see them in concert ... hope they come to western Canada soon! I LOVE this song, my parents must have been playing it a lot when I was in my crib, lol.

  • going tonite to see three dog night cant wait! LOL

  • Just got back tonight seing Chuck and his band! It was awesome. sounded better than this wish they all could be together. Chuck sang this song to perfection tonight!!

  • I'm totally with you, DJ. Lose the orchestra and get Chuck! Chuck somehow never needed an orchestra, as I recall, and proabably wouldn't need one today!

  • One Of My Very Favorite Songs!!! Love It!...5*s Thanks Jon & PJ....Anita

  • My favorite TDN song!

  • First record I bought when I was young... :)

  • First record I bought when I was young...:)

  • Some of the best vocals in rock. I wish they would let Chuck Negron back in the band. One of the best bands of the 70s.

  • I saw this band and they rock, and I'm only 11

  • oh UHHH year

    the greatest song ever
