@irontruck Installation not too bad. Good fitting instructions come with it. Theres an alloy bracket that holds on the original catalytic converter that has to be cut all right. See full instructions on Taylormade's website. Tried to post link but cant for some reason.
GodDam that sounds good, I'm picking up by 09 friday. I've brought nothong but Gixer's from 1991..I think? But I get a new one every 2 years cause I'm not paying for a new paintjob. I LOVE'm
Got a Gixxer 1000 K8 with dual termignoni's and 'y' pipe, base run was 164bhp, then had the ECU remapped with the yosh box and it puts out 171bhp.
But more importantly it runs so much smoother and the throttle is more responsive. The dyno bloke recommended the yosh box, he said the power commander is worthwhile if you are planning on a full system with race filters and other mods, but for simply smoothing out the power and torque curves and gaining a few ponies then the yosh box is ideal!
I've got the Termignoni Moto GP Replica Slip on's with Termignoni 'y' pipe to replace the cat.
You've got to get rid of the cat on the thou', it just sucks the life out of the bike. Gives you a healthy bhp increase in the midrange pulls alot harder low down now, and the termi's really sing now the cat has gone!!!
162 BHP???? I have the same Exhaust on my GSXR 1000 K8 wiht a BMC Filter and power commander and I am getting 173 BHP!!!! are you sure it was 162??? seems to be very underpowered if you askj me
it's mostly because full exhaust systems increase the flow of the engine. the exhaust gasses have less resistance so the engine itself can burn more fuel because of this. so if you run the standard mapping the engine won't get enough fuel to optimize the exhaust system and it will run a little lean
I notice the 07 C reg.., fergus cawley tuning?, My 02 K2 c/w full Yoshi, and PC111, puts out 163 at back wheel!!, so... nah, nah,ne,nah, nah. K7??, what the story with that?
@coomster1000 you've got to be kidding, Yoshimura does not have better quality compared to Taylormade. All Taylormade products are hand made and are all inspected by Paul Taylor himself. There is no factory production line. Also, if you look at prices alone, Taylormade is more expensive for a reason.
Yoshi is just a name.... you can get taylor made like yoshi or even better.... We pulled a yoshi appart to see the internals, very simple just like any other exhaust. Im not dissing yoshi, its a good brand, great exhausts, however its mostly marketing hype... everybody knows yoshi....

anybody knows the difreence in horse power between the r1 and the k7-k8? i've read that k7 does 170hp to the wheel and the r1 does only 150hp to the wheel.can this be true?this diffrence is enormous.(20hp?)
Whoa... freaking thing even shoots flames for a little bit. Looks cool, but in theory is it even safe to ride on it with flames shooting out like that? I have been really looking into this exhaust, but now I'm thinking will this thing burn my arsehole
cat is short for catalytic converter and it is between engine and muffler it reduces emissions, however, robs the engine of power as it restricts the engine flow. Basically when cat goes power comes.
This is the complete end can as it arrived from Taylormade. There is packing in the can but no removable baffle. The bike also has BMC race filter and PCIII fitted. It made 169 rw bhp with this set up after custom mapping. This was 10 up on standard.

yoshi is better quality as said before, but for over all price to performance I would go with the taylor made package

My K7 produced
Stock
158 BHP
Twin Yoshi's ( Cat removed..standard headers )
163 BHP
Twin yoshi's & Power commander 111
171 BHP
with the cat gone.. you definately pick up some midrange.
Remember BHP is at the REAR wheel .. not the crank....as alot of people like to claim horsepower figures.

It's not safe to stand behind the bike on the dyno like that- you might catch some shit in the face bro...

AWESOME BIKE, thinking about this pipe for my 08 black and gold, does the cat get removed when this pipe is installed
freebirdbill 4 years ago
Yep, The cat does go. It makes a noticeable difference to the midrange! I gained about 3-4 bhp without remap and 10 after remap.
coomster1000 4 years ago
hey there, where u from cause in my country our k7 gsxr 1000 comes standard with 201hp.
13DEVILSDICE13 3 years ago
I'm in Ireland. We get the same bikes as the UK market. As far as I know, Suzuki claim 185bhp at the crank for this bike.
coomster1000 3 years ago
201 hp yeah right, that would be in every mag and website.
sherrod0506 3 years ago 2
did you get the remap from the package taylor made sells for 1.2g ????
or did you get a custom map made else where????

I got a custom map done locally!

cat is short for catalytic converter and it is between engine and muffler it reduces emissions, however, robs the engine of power as it restricts the engine flow. Basically when cat goes power comes.
