You both should invest in a catfish pole a ultra light will catch fish but nothen huge!Your lucky you got him in!

It's not luck my friend...it's experience! :) I have catfish poles, but that provides no challenge...big poles just horse them in and that's it. UL poles provide challenge...and skill...and patience....

lol...yeah, i like using ultralight for these guys, it makes it more fun. I use 4 pound test for almost everything. Only time I use 8 pound is for steelheads and sometimes carp...otherwise 8 pounds is my max.

Thank you. I'm really big on ultralight. I go even 4 pound test for these cats. But I was fishing tight to lots of sunken trees and a rocky river so I went with 8 pound test. That rod I used is even an ultra light. :)

Damn man. Thats a hell of a fish on an ultralight. LOL I love Sonny's. My dad and I use it all the time when we go fishing. We use the little square dog food pieces with holes in the middle. About 5 pieces on a hook, press it down in real well, and pull out a glob of Sonny's the size of a golf ball. Works great!

thats it i caught bigger one by Marsh Lake Appleton. go there at night around 9 to 2am use big minnows and i mean at least 5 in minnows and you will catch at normal size what you catch there but very nice.
