  • Good job but I don't understand why dedicate your time in playing the way Jamerson played (one finger)! What benefit do you receive from playing that way?

  • @dwalmz Cheers - the hook technique helps develop the rake, which is easier and faster than using 2 fingers, also it helps understand the importance of open strings and using them to develop a groove - nothing against any other technique, but I try to stick to the hook for my Jamerson tributes as it gets closer to the original tone and feel of the track

  • all i can say is jamerson was amazing! cuz dude is trying real hard to do something jj had no problem with

  • nice tone

  • Can you send me the tab please?

  • The greatest bass line ever laid down. Just laying back in the pocket playing that ascending pattern under the "heard it through the grapevine" lyrics.

    Awesome.

  • That's a tough bass line. Most people have not idea.

You nailed it. I learned that one a year ago and it still gives me trouble. ;)

  • Very authentic! You nailed it. I haven't tried Grapevine yet by Gladys Knight so I'll check your video out a few times.

  • Many thanks - I'm playing it from memory so I know it won't be nailed but I hope it shows how one finger can groove as well as two sometimes!
