  • looks alot like a rotax 122 crank

  • Why didn't they just use a 5 cylinder?

  • @SparkDischarge why not go rotary ? =]

  • @1337ASM They don't rev as high.

The problem is there is only 1 stationary gear. Rotary engines could rev higher with 2, but that would complicate the construction.

    750cc 5 cylinder 150hp (67mm bore X 42.5mm stroke X 5 cylinders :)

    1500cc 3 cylinder 300hp (110mm bore X 52.5mm stroke X 3 cylinder) Perfect insanity.

  • For as big and mean the CPC makes a small, 1.0L, inline-four sound, why not use that technology on say a 2.0L for a sports car or somehting? I know theyve designed automotive engines in the past. It would definatly turn some heads when they hear the exhaust.

  • @CadetLD Because they do not rev as high as motorcycles do.

Because they can add more cylinders.

  • I have an 08 R1; I prefer the sound of that to the CPC version.

  • i want a yamahar too

  • 6:12 "You actually got an inline four that thinks it's a v-four"

Having a v-four myself I can say; That's pretty awesome!

    (RC36II / VFR750)

  • Brilliant piece of technology. But I miss the old sound though.I have one question though...how come all the other inline 4 ,manufacturers have not gone down this route yet? For example the zx10 r 2011 will still have the good old inline 4 sound.Which means same old engine technology.

  • how much does Specialized pay Ben to wear that hat?

  • seems that it is the counter balancer that disturbs grip when the con-rods position itself for easy crank movement

  • Neil Spaulding rocks, the Moto tech geek.

  • YAMAHA rulles!

  • let me tell u that this tech "guru" did an ATROCIOUS job at explaining the benefits of the cross plane crank.

I know how it works..... but this guy is just a shockingly bad teacher.

  • WHATEVER!!! R1 2004-2008 RULEZZ

  • wonder if this could be used on diesel engines....

  • @Ranger0n20s No. There is a reason MB used 5 cylinder diesels.

There is never more than 1 piston/connecting rod assembly stopped at any one time.

  • you just took the exitement out of riding a r1

if its pushing against the other pistons, and rods, its putting a lot more stree on the crank as well

  • stress sorry

  • the most simple solutions turn to be the best :P my father had old R1 and now the new R1... i driven both of them and even i can fel continuous flow of power...

  • THE BEAST!

  • R1 love forever!

  • love the r1
