@comfortablynumbb Chameleons are superficially similar, but still have a different sound. I guess it's like comparing Joy Division to Interpol. The Chameleons are more gloomy than U2 - maybe like U2 mixed with The Cure. If I could describe the bands in terms of weather, I would say that U2 is 'icy and wintery' while Chameleons is 'rainy and wet'.
