250 shillings is like? 500 USD? that's insane for an African person to pay. I would just go out into the jungle and build a hut out of whatever trees I could cut down, build a palm thatched roof, set traps for whatever I could kill to eat and live off the land. I know easier said than done but that place is a slum. They don't even have running water it looks like and no paved roads.

Renters don't own their homes. If they don't like rent increases, move. Or buy your own place so you don't have to live at the whims of a landlord.

Screw their 'entitlement'. They have no right to hold the apartment building by force.

If the landlord increased their rent to a ridiculous amount to encourage them to leave, that's his right. Maybe he wants to demolish the place and build something else.

It is right. They had ten months to find new digs, and this was court ordered. Then they refused to leave. It is their own responsibility to take care of themselves, not the governments job. Maybe one day you will own a rental property, and you won't get rent for almost a year. Then you can watch the tenants refuse to leave after they are court ordered. What are you going to do - let them stay for free or call the police?

I usually feel sympathy for such a situation but I am tired of tenants not paying rent and trashing the property. They did have plenty of time to find somewhere else. It is drastic to be shooting at them but right now I am just fed up with them!
