INFJ's don't have Te - but they can bounce around a lot, too. any thoughts as to why? any other function-related things come to mind? A lot of INFJ's just have to start writing stuff down to keep their ideas, conclusions, thoughts and impressions - in focus. Once topic leading into another. Finding the connection, if there is one (Ni I suppose) - but still ... topic to topic to topic (In their heads at least), (or in my head at least). I don't have Te or Ne - which is suppose to be that way, so?
my best friends dad is an ESTJ. and he has a really developed iNtuition. Its quite impressive actually. He is really well developed - as as so, he is such an impressive and awesome person. No S-J jokes about him. His wife is an ENFJ - and they are an amazing couple!
As is mentioned in the video, Fe is the INTP's inferior function, and yet, from my experience on an MBTI forum, sometimes they have their Fe all over the place.
One of the differences I've noticed between INTJs and INTPs is that INTPs seemto like text-walling.
Another is that INTPs (Fe) tend to hold socialist values while INTJs (Fi) tend to have libertarian values. This, of course, doesn't account for all INTXs. In a post on ridding society of advertizing, posters pro=Fe & posters con=Fi.
Yeah, I can relate to the extrovert thing. I've been developing my extroverted side recently and after about 2 hours of being active and more centred in a group of people, I just die out and feel extremely exhausted. I noticed however, that being more extroverted creates a nice balance in my life. I start to enjoy social situations more, get a better nights sleep, and am able to appreciate my alone time a lot more!
Awesome videos. After reading MBTI stuff off and on for 2 years or so, but paying attention to the letters rather than the functions, I came up against a block where I couldn't find new material (mostly about myself--infj-- and other intuitive types) but I didn't really have a clear system of understanding the types. Learning about the functions is, in contrast, useful. I am learning again. Sweet.
And what I've learned about a big difference between "T"s and "F"s is that "T"s are more likely to be the classic "Hero beats Villain, Hero kills Villain" type. Whereas "F"s are the ones who will not kill him, but let him live. And this creates a situation where the "T"s actions were logical, but not exactly "moral". Whereas the "F"s actions were more "moral" but will come back to haunt him/her in "the next episode".
@allmusicgirl You can do Google work for that. But what your're probably looking for is what are you naturally best at. What charges you. Look at it from that angle. Its like using your left and right hand all the time even though you are "right handed". You are both a thinker and feeler so look at it from which one do you slightly more prefer. Which one brings more energy and which one drains.

@ChrisMarie93 Hey thanks! I'd love to help more but am short on time... :( We will have lots more info coming in the future though. Working on it now.
Hello i am an intj and i wanted to know if you can do a hole video about intjs you explain these things well now just try to stick on one subject to its end before swithicng
I'm an INTJ with a strongly pronounced ENFP shadow (the shadow isn't always a perfect "mirror image" of persona). I'm a "by the book" kind of guy in the workplace but only because it's functional. Outside the workplace, it's different, but it always irks me when I'm the only one following the rules (this is assuming the rules make sense and serve the purpose of socio-ergonomics).
I loved this video! Your thinking patterns are so structured and easily to follow. I have watched some INTJ videos which seemed to be be loosely structured stream of consciousness monologues, which left me thinking "what does that have to do with anything?" I love the annotations, and how you broke down each issue. I love to take a large amount of information and begin to structure it like that too. Great video.
Hey Dave, as a fellow INTJ I've been watching all your videos since I'm interested in developing my extroverted side. I'm in the middle of college and this seems pretty crucial to me. It'd be awesome if you could eventually get around to making a vid about how you worked on this trait.
@Tiburon07 Cool, thanks. Yes, I will be doing a video on that, just many months out in the future. Gotta get some stuff done here and after that lots more MB videos.
I've taken the personality test on the page you linked too, and I've watched your video both would suggest that I am INTP. Which I agree with mostly but I would have to say I am more Introverted iNtuition, rather than extroverted. :/
Wait? You said: "...the dad is driving" at 0:29 and yet the mom is ALSO driving: "...the mom in the driver's seat" at 0:32. Cool!!! A car with two drivers! I bet it'll crash soon. From an INTP. :p
The SP (mostly dominant Se types) is the one that randomly going to call you some weekend and say "Hey, want to go to Vegas? There's tickets sold at the airport for $100 round-trip".
The SJ is going to argue with you which way the toilet paper "should" be hung.
Any dominant Ne will be the one that comes up with an idea, gets you all excited about it, and then when the time comes your puzzled because they didn't do anything to really implement the idea. This is when the Ni type comes in.
INTPs piss me off because (1) they don't see my insights and refuse to believe anything is true unless it's 100% thoroughly proven to be true in all cases (2) they dismiss the general principles I see because they don't believe any general rule is true due to the exceptions (3) they split hairs, play semantics, get hung up on technicalities, and (4) many of them are jackasses because the majority of perceivers tend to be jackasses. That's annoying.
@SpreadingTruths Ha! So true! Their strengths can be weaknesses (like all of us). The INTP has strong Ti and Si functions which make them VERY good with details! The INTJ has neither Ti or Si and just SUCKS with details (as we know).
One of my best friends is INTP and he's ALWAYS saving me from making stupid mistakes cause I can't see the detail trap I'm about to step into.
A good INTJ/INTP team is so good.
Oh, and their "easy going "P drives me fricken nuts too.
@DaveSuperPowers I pretended to be a P and a E at the same time. It drained me out, i had to sleep an extra 5 hours, so i would sleep 12 hours a day. When i turned back into being an INTJ it felt natural. I had more energy and that my life was more structured and ordered.
The reason why I wanted to change to an E was to increase my chance with that special girl. The reason why I was forced to change to a P was that I took on a lot more work than i can handle (I know INTJ are know to do that).
@Hawkx101 SEEEEEEEE! I know, right! You can "do it" but it just drains! I've learned to use the ability to "play" other letters sparingly, like a nitro burst in a car. It WILL give you super performance but you just PAY for it in wear and tear.
I also learned that no business or relationship can be BUILT on a mod letter. Over time you just can't keep it up. Gotta come clean.
@DaveSuperPowers Yeah your probably right about the relationship thing. I'll have to be my rational self. The major disadvantage is that I lose out on the displayment of emotions.
@SpreadingTruths Im a INTP and i can say the same thing about getting frustrated to other types. Im accepting of other opinions as long as they can back them up in the big picture.
Perceivers may very well be jackasses but Judgers are Anal freaks who need to apply 'rules' to everything and freakout when things dont go according to the 'rules'. Try going to church where the majority of people are SJ and you'll see what i mean- the blind freaks of society.
lol @ 3:20. You need to explain something far more complex to explain something far more simple, which you would need a lot more time to break down. With no easy analogy, you hold your chin for a second and try to think. Haha. Typical INT.
Lol @ 4:00. Sensor hate is great. @ 4:13, you seriously used super heroes as an analogy to explain the equality of the personality types. LMAO. Nerd to the extreme.
I’m an INTP and I have been fascinated by personality types for past year. I have become quite good at speed reading people, but not necessarily on looking at peoples eye movements but rather I can often tell peoples personality by their interests and opinions, their rejections of opinions ,the reasons why they like particular movies or music and their reactions to the News and pop culture.
Sensors don’t often understand Myers briggs to begin with and often don’t understand the benefits of it.
@oakfire12 Oh nice. As an INTP you have quite a selection of functions to master this kind of stuff. Your 4th functions is extrovert feeling and is what the INFJs use to be the best in the world at this kinda stuff. So you might have to work at it longer than an INFJ or even and INTJ but in the long run your functions can be extremely good at this kind of stuff.
What I'm saying is learn this stuff the INTP way not the INFJ/INTJ way. Lean it how your unique brain wants to.
Fe tries to maintain emotional order. Its just that although an INTP is going to want harmony, they have just cared about it less and developed those relevant skills less. An INTJ typically has even less desire to maintain emotional harmony in the group than an INTP :)
(thus socially developed INTPs are often quite popular)
@Leto2ndAtreides Very good perspective, thanks. Its also interesting to see how one's Fe or Fi function lets say, plays out in their life depending on the function level. Meaning, and INTP's 4th function is Fe where an ENFJ's first function is Fe.
And generally speaking, people's 3rd and 4th functions are usually underdeveloped compared to their 1st and 2nd functions... Which is probably exactly what you are saying by the "socially developed INTP"
This video is great! Been confused on whether I was an INTP or INTJ for a while (every time I've taken the test I've gotten INTJ with 1% J), and this video helped me find out that I'm an INTJ. Thanks, dude.
Dave, it'd be great if you could do a video on the differences between INTJs and INFJs like the video on the ENTPs and ENTJs (with all the real-life examples - they were awesome!)
@btra6 Trust me an INTJ would know what they are. A true INTJ real spend endless hours scrutinizing their personality test results and will verify by re-testing until they are 99.999 percent sure that they are accurate.
@jameswedmore haha yeah INTJs are jerks - actually I ask because I'm not sure what I am. When I first sat the MBTI, I came out as INFJ. The second time I did it: INTJ. And now it comes out as ENTJ (with a low E). NFI!! And I've studied this at uni and know how to break it all down to the four functions. I give up
The secret to getting an accurate score is feeling relaxed. If you are stressed, your shadow functions are dominant. So, if there is not alot going on in your life, no major hassles, the reading will be accurate.
I love this video... and I took the survey on the teamtech site...but due to the 1990ish website, logo's and color scheme, I didn't stick around for the full report...It was literally making me sick...The management / expert forum page takes the cake (OH MY)...Its very frustrating to find a site with such great potential and information to be displayed in such a horrid and dated way. I hope a makeover is in its near future.
I'm an INTP and i share every characteristic of an INTP except fpr mathematical skills. I love puzzles and solving things and thinking about ideas and what not, but math is hard. I'm much more of a word person. Do you know if that is an exception of some sort?
Hello what is your mativation is it surviale in the future for your self and others.
This is the only reason I started my small biss as I know if the planet gets bad enouf goverments will hide them selfs safe and the people will be left to work things out for them selfs..
A reoccurring theme I am seeing is that INTJ's seem to hate small talk, gossip, and hearing about other people's issues with relationships and so forth. I scored INTJ and almost all of the traits an INTJ is accredited with apply to me except this. Your thoughts?
@Fra42below Notice how the Sensor here can't connect two points on his own. He kicks the MB stuff and likes the RC show. He's unable to see that the REASON he likes the RC show is because we spent years on MB to make the RC show entertaining for him!
An iNtuitive can naturally make these connections, most Sensors see no connections between such points and therefore say something stupid.
And yes, our RC show is 99.9% psychology and showmanship and .01% physical planes.
@DaveSuperPowers ok ok i have no idea what u r talking about, and i sincerely apologise for not being able to understand and connect the points. all i know is scientology sucks, and ron hubbard didnt even make Rcplane videos, so 1 point for you then. LOL
Hey Dave, are other INTJ's usually happy people? Even though I'm not just morbid, I haven't really been "happy" as I understand it for years. Should I try to develope a stonger E trait?
@NoGrayArea01 Wow, funny you say that. Myself and all 3 of my strong INTJ friends laugh when we admit how incredibility hard and DRAINING it is for us to put on a "happy face" for our friends, family, public, etc. I don't know how "normal" this is (depending on ones definition) but what I can say is INTJs statistically don't tend to be happy, silly, fun people at heart.
@DaveSuperPowers That's ok though, because we do what we find to be meaningful, rather than drink ourselves to death every weekend. I'm an INTP with the discipline and strategic thinking of an INTJ, if that makes any sense...
Dave, will you be making more videos like this in the future? I really would like to get good at this stuff, do you have any books on this subject that you can recommend to me?
@NikiRio134 I'll also have a better, simpler, more effecient persoanlity test once we start our show. The ones out there (on line and such) really suck and do more harm then good. They do nothing but confuse people simply because they are made up wrong.
Thanks for doing this. I am an INTJ. How did you develop your "E" side so well? I must learn to do this to take my career to the next level. Thank you again.
It would be great if you did a video where you actually went out and showed how to kind of.... apply I suppose the word is, the myersbrigg stuff. I know in one of the videos you said you can pick out some personality types from across a room. I think this stuff is really interesting, just have trouble knowing exactly what someone is. Not nessecarily picking out E's from I's , or T from F, but the smaller stuff, the esfp's from the esfj's. Great videos Dave!
@sirlensalot2 The key to mastering the smaller stuff like ESFP/ESFJ is the 4 functions underneath. The ESFJ for example is an EXTROVERTED FEELER and is going to have more exaggerated facial expressions, be able to cry and talk at the same time, and a job like a teacher or something.
The ESFP is an EXTROVERTED THINKER and will bounce from idea to idea more, be more spontaneous, and like to dance.
Those 2 types appear similar but they are MILES apart from each other when you know the functions.
@Admiral1428 Cool thanks. Yes INTJs, the system dooers. Without them the world would come to a stop. They make things happen and make sure they happen. I do paln to do a video on the ISTJ in a couple months (sorry for the wait). But there is lots of info on the Google for now.
I really hate doing group things in college. People alwyas weigh me down and it pisses me the fuck off...interesting.you can see my awesome creativeness in my few videos haha check em out...I used to have philosophical quotes pop into my head haha. like knowledge is useless unless you know how to use it. Ironic haha because intps dont usually apply their thoughts, just realized that.. I cant feel peoples emotions but i can tell what theyre thinking by intuitively psychoanalyzing them.
I can relate to your last comment so well, I have got quite good at playing extrovert for shot times in smaller groups, but it hammers my energy levels so badly.
Also find myself getting quieter & thinking faster - I cannot write / type fast enough to keep up with the thoughts & Ideas, its all too much sometimes but I do get so much energy from Ideas, problem solving / improving designs.
Im really liking your Myers Briggs teachings / explanations, please keep them going. ;o)
So when i feel my "feelings" i get them physically? Is that how INTJs get it? Im thinking why and don`t understand why. but i still get them.. is that it? I don`t understand how i am a Te either. confused. does ISTJ have Te? I have a weak N supposedly. not that i understand that compared to other people on my course. Loads of Sensors might explain it. And perhaps that i have a strong T 70%+ healp!
Wow,Thanks,it really shows me what I am good at and what I should focus on. You even predicted things about me that I didn't tell you, such as the fact that I cannot feel other's emotions even in a time of great sorrow. BTW...I constantly am called "Einstein" by others, it's somewhere between the really random facts and information to my dazed look as I am in full thinking cap mode all the time.
@RCSonicjet Hey cool Sonic! One of my best friends from 3rd grade lives up here (engineer at Boeing) and Im still in touch with him. He is a big time INTP. The couple times I talked on the phone with you I instantly noticed that the way you talk, pronounce your works, thought process, speed, etc was exactly like my friends.
Which is weird at first, but the more you get to know this stuff it makes senses. All INTPs are processing the world generally the same way. Its no wonder they sound alike.
@RCSonicjet The INTP is literally THE GREATEST THINKER. So yes you have some things that your not naturally good at (people skills, whatever) but your strengths are so over dominant (iNtuition / Thinking) that you can use your strengths to overcome your weaknesses.
Just as you study planes and can see the underling patterns, study/watch people and you'll start to see the patterns. Books on body language (and Myers Briggs) allowed me to start to see this stuff over time.
@GideonShalwick Hey thanks Gideon. Actually yes, we are working on a Myers Briggs show. Got alot going on but hope to have it up in a month or so. Plan to do just that, explain how things all work and how to apply it and read the personality types of others.
Super charging stuff for me and there is a good perentage of people hungry for it.
Question: what means "borderline J"? In that sense that a INTJ becomes INTP. What is borderline "J" supposed to mean becuase:
INTJ = Ni / Te / Fi / Se
INTP = Ti / Ne / Si / Fe
So by merely changing the lifestyle the set of cognitive functions should differ according to MBTI typing definitions.
Can anyone enlighten me on the issue of "borderline J/P-ness"? If I ask this to in a realm of MBTI sellers I'm getting messy/unstructured answers.
Thanks.

DaveSuperPowers 9 months ago
@DaveSuperPowers I pretended to be a P and a E at the same time. It drained me out, i had to sleep an extra 5 hours, so i would sleep 12 hours a day. When i turned back into being an INTJ it felt natural. I had more energy and that my life was more structured and ordered.
The reason why I wanted to change to an E was to increase my chance with that special girl. The reason why I was forced to change to a P was that I took on a lot more work than i can handle (I know INTJ are know to do that).
Hawkx101 8 months ago
@Hawkx101 SEEEEEEEE! I know, right! You can "do it" but it just drains! I've learned to use the ability to "play" other letters sparingly, like a nitro burst in a car. It WILL give you super performance but you just PAY for it in wear and tear.
I also learned that no business or relationship can be BUILT on a mod letter. Over time you just can't keep it up. Gotta come clean.
DaveSuperPowers 8 months ago
@DaveSuperPowers Yeah your probably right about the relationship thing. I'll have to be my rational self. The major disadvantage is that I lose out on the displayment of emotions.
Hawkx101 8 months ago

Hey, Dave. Do you like Star Trek?

DaveSuperPowers 9 months ago
I’m an INTP and I have been fascinated by personality types for past year. I have become quite good at speed reading people, but not necessarily on looking at peoples eye movements but rather I can often tell peoples personality by their interests and opinions, their rejections of opinions ,the reasons why they like particular movies or music and their reactions to the News and pop culture.
Sensors don’t often understand Myers briggs to begin with and often don’t understand the benefits of it.
oakfire12 9 months ago
@oakfire12 Oh nice. As an INTP you have quite a selection of functions to master this kind of stuff. Your 4th functions is extrovert feeling and is what the INFJs use to be the best in the world at this kinda stuff. So you might have to work at it longer than an INFJ or even and INTJ but in the long run your functions can be extremely good at this kind of stuff.
What I'm saying is learn this stuff the INTP way not the INFJ/INTJ way. Lean it how your unique brain wants to.
DaveSuperPowers 9 months ago
Fe tries to maintain emotional order. Its just that although an INTP is going to want harmony, they have just cared about it less and developed those relevant skills less. An INTJ typically has even less desire to maintain emotional harmony in the group than an INTP :)
(thus socially developed INTPs are often quite popular)
Leto2ndAtreides 10 months ago
@Leto2ndAtreides Very good perspective, thanks. Its also interesting to see how one's Fe or Fi function lets say, plays out in their life depending on the function level. Meaning, and INTP's 4th function is Fe where an ENFJ's first function is Fe.
And generally speaking, people's 3rd and 4th functions are usually underdeveloped compared to their 1st and 2nd functions... Which is probably exactly what you are saying by the "socially developed INTP"

btra6 1 year ago
@btra6 Same thing as this video here, dive into the functions homie.
DaveSuperPowers 1 year ago
@btra6 Trust me an INTJ would know what they are. A true INTJ real spend endless hours scrutinizing their personality test results and will verify by re-testing until they are 99.999 percent sure that they are accurate.

@btra6 HAHA!! Because Dave is a big jerk and he hates people...INTJ
...love ya Dave
jameswedmore 1 year ago
@jameswedmore haha yeah INTJs are jerks - actually I ask because I'm not sure what I am. When I first sat the MBTI, I came out as INFJ. The second time I did it: INTJ. And now it comes out as ENTJ (with a low E). NFI!! And I've studied this at uni and know how to break it all down to the four functions. I give up
btra6 1 year ago
@btra6

Do you know if that is an exception of some sort?
sonnybeilbill3 1 year ago
@sonnybeilbill3 Everyone is different and all INTPs are different as well. So many are good at math and some are not.
This is not about "what we do" (though that does leak out) its about "how we get energy, learn, make decisions, live, etc".
So one INTP might apply their unique set of strengths to math while another uses the exact same set of strengths and applys them to puzzles.

Dave,
A reoccurring theme I am seeing is that INTJ's seem to hate small talk, gossip, and hearing about other people's issues with relationships and so forth. I scored INTJ and almost all of the traits an INTJ is accredited with apply to me except this. Your thoughts?

Fra42below 1 year ago
@Fra42below Notice how the Sensor here can't connect two points on his own. He kicks the MB stuff and likes the RC show. He's unable to see that the REASON he likes the RC show is because we spent years on MB to make the RC show entertaining for him!
An iNtuitive can naturally make these connections, most Sensors see no connections between such points and therefore say something stupid.
And yes, our RC show is 99.9% psychology and showmanship and .01% physical planes.
DaveSuperPowers 1 year ago
@DaveSuperPowers ok ok i have no idea what u r talking about, and i sincerely apologise for not being able to understand and connect the points. all i know is scientology sucks, and ron hubbard didnt even make Rcplane videos, so 1 point for you then. LOL

Hey Dave, are other INTJ's usually happy people? Even though I'm not just morbid, I haven't really been "happy" as I understand it for years. Should I try to develope a stonger E trait?
NoGrayArea01 1 year ago
@NoGrayArea01 Wow, funny you say that. Myself and all 3 of my strong INTJ friends laugh when we admit how incredibility hard and DRAINING it is for us to put on a "happy face" for our friends, family, public, etc. I don't know how "normal" this is (depending on ones definition) but what I can say is INTJs statistically don't tend to be happy, silly, fun people at heart.
DaveSuperPowers 1 year ago
@DaveSuperPowers That's ok though, because we do what we find to be meaningful, rather than drink ourselves to death every weekend. I'm an INTP with the discipline and strategic thinking of an INTJ, if that makes any sense...

@NikiRio134 I'll also have a better, simpler, more effecient persoanlity test once we start our show. The ones out there (on line and such) really suck and do more harm then good. They do nothing but confuse people simply because they are made up wrong.

@NikiRio134 Wow you're an expert on other people.
patternsinchaos 1 year ago
Dave,
Thanks for doing this. I am an INTJ. How did you develop your "E" side so well? I must learn to do this to take my career to the next level. Thank you again.
NikiRio134 1 year ago
@NikiRio134 I developed my "E" like this:
1) Mastering what I was first (INTJ) and what that ment.
2) Then learning what the E really was, who has it, whats the pros and cons, etc.
3) Found close people to model after. I learned how they naturally did it.
4) Then started to apply it when I met people that did not know me, see if I could trick them.
5) Then keep at it over time and it got better (15years). Still drains me but I can do it when I need to.
Same process developing my F and P.
DaveSuperPowers 1 year ago
how hard is it to fly a hydrofoam? how much time did it take u to learn to fly like that?
CookingWithAlec 1 year ago
It would be great if you did a video where you actually went out and showed how to kind of.... apply I suppose the word is, the myersbrigg stuff. I know in one of the videos you said you can pick out some personality types from across a room. I think this stuff is really interesting, just have trouble knowing exactly what someone is. Not nessecarily picking out E's from I's , or T from F, but the smaller stuff, the esfp's from the esfj's. Great videos Dave!
sirlensalot2 1 year ago
@sirlensalot2 The key to mastering the smaller stuff like ESFP/ESFJ is the 4 functions underneath. The ESFJ for example is an EXTROVERTED FEELER and is going to have more exaggerated facial expressions, be able to cry and talk at the same time, and a job like a teacher or something.
The ESFP is an EXTROVERTED THINKER and will bounce from idea to idea more, be more spontaneous, and like to dance.
Those 2 types appear similar but they are MILES apart from each other when you know the functions.

DesertSmeagle 1 year ago
@DaveSuperPowers
Im really liking your Myers Briggs teachings / explanations, please keep them going. ;o)

Once again,thanks!
RCSonicjet 1 year ago
@RCSonicjet Hey cool Sonic! One of my best friends from 3rd grade lives up here (engineer at Boeing) and Im still in touch with him. He is a big time INTP. The couple times I talked on the phone with you I instantly noticed that the way you talk, pronounce your works, thought process, speed, etc was exactly like my friends.
Which is weird at first, but the more you get to know this stuff it makes senses. All INTPs are processing the world generally the same way. Its no wonder they sound alike.
DaveSuperPowers 1 year ago
@RCSonicjet The INTP is literally THE GREATEST THINKER. So yes you have some things that your not naturally good at (people skills, whatever) but your strengths are so over dominant (iNtuition / Thinking) that you can use your strengths to overcome your weaknesses.
Just as you study planes and can see the underling patterns, study/watch people and you'll start to see the patterns. Books on body language (and Myers Briggs) allowed me to start to see this stuff over time.
DaveSuperPowers 1 year ago
Hey Dave
The functions are super helpful! I reckon this is something I want to research a lot more... unless...
Unless you create some nice lesson videos on how the functions work (the theory side and how to apply it).
