I think my sister is an organ donor, I was going to register years ago too, but it turns out I either have anaemia or some genetic blood "issue" (the doctors couldn't tell for some reason) either way, making it so that I can't be a candidate -- at least, as far as I know anyway, I guess I could recheck and see if it's still possible. It's sad since I actually really did want to become a donor. :\

I am an organ donor, and this is also pretty close to my heart, as my dad had a liver transplant a few years ago, I also took a while to join up, but I always knew I would and now I have!

is giving their kidney to the other. its a good system to find the best match, and all three people must agree to do it before any transplant is made. some ppl get upset tho because they mightnt be donating their kidney to a friend but to a stranger, but they dont realise that their donation is still enabling their friend to get a new life. i think thats only for kidneys though, families of deceased are simply asked if the person wanted to be a donor. if yes, then they harvest the organs :)

in australia i ticked a box when getting my licence to say that i want to be an organ donor. i have no worries about it- as far as i know im in perfect health, so when i die i want to be able to help as many as possible. for kidneys here we hav the "gift program" and its where all ppl willing to donate for a friend are in a sort of system. then its seen who is the best "match" for them, and they could be giving a kidney to someone on the other side of the country. but at the same time that donor

@mattammar I prefer a system that enables people to OPT OUT of organ donation AND eligibility; otherwise their organs are available when they die.

Organ donation is so close to my heart. Before I was born, my brother was shot in an accident while on holiday in Italy. He was pronounced brain dead at only 7 years old. My parents made the decision to donate his organs and saved 7 people. They allowed 1 man to see his children for the first time and another woman became healthy enough to have a son of her own, whom she named after my brother. It also raised awareness in Italy, where there weren't many donors before. Please become a donor.

I'm 14, but I'm becoming an organ donor ASAP :) when I was 7 and I first heard about it, I thought it was icky, but my mum explained to me that hey, I'll be dead. I won't care, but someone will get to live out of my death.
