Just like every great champion, he was extraordinarly fast, but he had a wonderfull car too... ! The MP4-4 is a legend, thanks to his talent to find the perfect set up, obviously
If he hadn't of sadly died Schumacer wouldn't have won half his 7 championships! I feel insulted when people go on about Schumacher being the best ever when really SENNA WAS!
Remember that race and that season generally. Everyone wanted the Williams no.1 seat after mediocre Mansell won a title with them in '92 showed anyone could win in that car. But the mods for '93 messed up stability and Senna's natural ability made him competitive even in an inferior car. His most impressive season I thought. He got the seat in '94 and ironically he died in it.
Cwucial accessowy, dwamatically demonstwated, on the wun down to Wedgate, wight up onto Pwost's tail, thwough the S-bend, Senna thwust thwough, bone dwy, dwivers complained of poor gwip.
Schumaher only won all those championships because of the small competition, senna won 3 against Prost, Mansell, Hakinnen, Piquet and more. Being the best of the world when they were so many awesome drivers was alot harder than being the best when there was just one or two people to compete with
@mtv218 schumacher won the championship in 1994 and '95 too......against those good drivers hakkinen, mansell, hill, berger and more.........hakinnen was also driving in 2000 and i guess in '01 also. so dont tell us he only won because of small competition.....
@Schrecklassnach38 Mansell in his later years when he was failing, 95 only competition was Hill in the partially patched together "airplane without wings". So yea whoever said that, has the right to.
@Schrecklassnach38 The thing is, Schumacher might have been in the best car when he won with Benetton in 94 and 95 and with Ferrari in 2000-2004, but it takes a truely masterfull driver to get the best out of the car.
if you have any doubts, just look at the 2002 season. In 16 races, the LOWEST Michael scored that year was a 3 place in Malaysia. If you recall, Audi does the same thing right now, winning Le Mans 9 times in 11 tries, and also helping Tom Kristensen to win the race 6 of 8 times!
@Schrecklassnach38 Do i have to be with or against you?! If i have to chose, im with you, because as you said, Schumacher made Ferrari a team able to win so many championship. He had the same ability as Lauda when he drove for Ferrari, they had the ability to give amazing feedback to the designers and engineers. He did have a little help in the brilliance of Ross Brawn.
Ferrari, Ross Brawn and Schumacher was an absolute dream team!
dream team sure, with unlimited financial power and testing facilties. All modern drivers can give feedback, there is nothing special about it, it is about how you drive the car that counts. I keep hearing stupid cliches like this one you just said, and the one about Jenson Button saving his tyres etc, that is because Jenson Button is not as good as Hamilton. My point here is that Senna was superb at analising cars and discussing things with the team, schumacher did nothing new
@skynet091287 there is nothing amazing about the 2002 season when you realise the Ferrari car was so far ahead of the opposition, and that Barrichello did not resist him....so please stop making out as though it was a challenge. When a driver is relaxing and knows he has an advantage it is so much easier, espcially if you are the best driver with no competition. Schumahcer is a fraud from an era with very average drivers, only Alonso ws good enough to take him during that period of 2005-2006
Incredible... he was driving against the world's best & he cut through the field like it was just childs play. Nevertheless, in auto racing & especially F1 there are many determining factors... obviously his machine was working very well. But still very impressive any way you look at it. There seemed to be something magical between Senna & a race car
@MrPifta Schumacher is an arrogant cheat with no idea of how to be a good sportsman. Even Prost himself said Senna was better than him. You apparently know nothing about F1 or motor-racing. Waddle back to the playground spud and remember to keep striving.
@MissEgasMoniz ye it makes perfect sense ? he was an arrogant cheat but in the old days. bu he aint today and havent ben it the last 5-8 years ? so calling him a cheat if that makes u feel better then do that.
Apparently, as Williams (And prost) were sponsored by Sega. (And had Sonic the hedgehog on the side of the chassis) Senna had a picture of a flattened hegehog on his nosecone...
@FISHURMOMBALL i don`t give you a thumb down, cause your question is worth to be answered. it`s closer competition now, right. a couple of factors: tecn. is much or less the same (think about engine, in 93 Sennas engine was 100 hp (sic!) less powerful than Renault V10., some teams did more advanced tecnology (like active suspensions) than others - today the field is much compacter). a recovery from the tail of the field today even in a top car is difficult. but does this speech against Senna?
No better drivers now. Senna and Villeneuve were the best drivers ever. I don't know if I could decide between the 2...It's unfair to match, Senna had more success, but Villeneuve had a shorter career and worse cars (old Ferrari's were basically racing a muscle car against a BMW), but both were amazing.
Yes Senna was a great driver, He never really had to worry about Alain as he was not one to really do any aggressive driving, As for Hamilton, well he is nothing like being close to Senna's caliber.
well thats in start of the race and in light rain its lot more easy to overtake drivers but... its not easy to overtake 2 william and its not easy to drive in rain at all
@sparkygl0s I think Jonathan Ross did the voiceover on the end of season review video/dvd, this clip must have been taken from that. I mean could they have picked anyone worse to do it?, you spent the whole time listening to him talking about Pwost, Fewwawi, McLawen etc etc :p
Inclusive nessa corrida o Rubinho ia terminar no pódio se não fosse um problema da Jordan a 6 voltas do fim, ele estava andando até em segundo naquela corrida.
@gothickiller47 Senna also had a unique ability relative to the cars. It wasn't so much that he was significantly more talented at picking apexes and setting up cars etc, more that he drove in an unorthodox way to everyone else, especially with taking advantage of things like active suspension. The closest we'll get to such genius within the current crop is with Kobayashi... we'll never see the same speed, talent and ability, but from an unorthodox and entertainment factor, we can still hope.
So what? That doesn't mean a thing, there's no mention of any crashes that took place or anything. Button came from 14th to 5th but relied on a bit of luck on the first lap. Meanwhile, in the same race, Vettel came from 15th to fourth and Hamilton from 17th to third. Does that mean they were better than Button? No, because they were on one-stop races, whereas Button had two stops.
What is NOT arguable is that Schumacher, love him or hate him, is seven-time F1 world champion and the benchmark.
the drivers were more equal...cars became more equal . Better competition , you can love senna how much you want. But its so cheap and easy to call him better than Schumacher just because Ayrton died has his best "glory days"
I never said anything about Senna. And to the contrary, "better competition" doesn't quite pan out too well. Besides Schumacher the only real respectable driver over the majority of his career was Mika Hakkinen. Senna, Prost, Mansell, and Piquet all raced together.
Of course that mclaren had Traction controls and Schumacher had not any traction controls.
And in the full version of this video we can see even how an absolutely not good driver in rain as Michael Andretti, here, in his first race in rain (evenmore, in USA they not race in rain!) is even overtaking... Michael Schumacher !!!

AHAHAHHHAHAHAHAhahAHAAHaHahah Mclaren from 1993 is the best car in history agaahaaahahhahahahahah you really dont know shit about F1 so you better look WNBA instead aaaaaahahaahaha
Possibly his best lap, such an amazing driver. Him and Schumacher are very similar but I would have to place Senna above Schumacher as the greatest ever because of the way in which he won

Barneveld is Senna hater look at his style on channel this guy hates Senna and idolised Schumacher ....Only a complete fool can say that Mclaren from1993 was the best car ever ... looooooooooooool

superkindonmymind 2 years ago
this dam fastest Mclaren car.. the fastest F1 car ever in history!
BarneveldDarts 2 years ago
Fastest? Wouldn't say so. 1988's McLaren probably fastest McLaren ever.
Temezkin47 2 years ago
I agree with Temezkin. McLaren MP4/8 wasn't actually a very fast car with Ford V8 engine, but Senna did an amzing job with it in this race.

Possibly his best lap, such an amazing driver. Him and Schumacher are very similar but I would have to place Senna above Schumacher as the greatest ever because of the way in which he won

Will Donington be like this next year? Or is the track being completely redesigned.
That is, if there is a British GP next year.
edkev94 2 years ago
I think It will be same like this next year. I don´t know which track is better ... Silverstone or Donnington ... but I will enjoy the last race in Silverstone in two weeks :)

then he picked off wenglinger's sauber to take 3rd place on the outside as they plunged down the cratered kerbs (camera shows stunning overtake)
and there is andretti picking up wendlinger more decisivey (camera shows andretti punting wendlinger and himself off track)
Top commentary
