I did not think they were referencing "TSS" specifically tied with a woman's "situation".
I took it as she was using "toxic" as SLANG as in like "love is toxic", and it LURED someone to someone. In reality it could have been multi-leveled and it could also have been a reference to the TOXIC PRODUCTS that are in the consumer goods market these days and such as to say, stuff that lovers sometimes put b/t them and maybe mess up their relationship.

I love Tori Amos and think that she is delightfully eccentric but she's totally off the mark about Britney's song.
This has nothing to do with Toxic shock only about a poisonous attraction.
I find it really surprising that Tori wouldn't get it since her own songs tend to be very insightful. Maybe she was looking too hard for a meaning that wasn't there.
