  • you have to stutter play to sound like Page,he never could n still can't play

  • wtf happend at 0:09?

  • that was worse than me haha

  • the riff that he slides up to to 0:09 is missing a sharp sixth (dorian note) and is kind of crucial to the signatire sound of the solo (one of).

  • bad.

  • bad. no good. you could do this for two hours and not get sweat. so...

  • no...

  • I haven't heard this tune for twenty years, but even so I can tell you you're not playing it right teacher. Get back to work, there is a time for learning and someday (maybe) a time to teach.

  • my jaw just dropped ... this is perfect Page bends and all

  • what is with all the negativity? This person took the time and effort to do this, and people write "doesn't flow", "hard to listen to". Jesus, guitarists have it hard enough without dissin' each other. If it doesn't flow, make a video of it flowing.

It seems that guitarists are the most jealous children.

  • @paulandlesson I heard (read) that!

  • Doesn't flow

  • Pretty rough to listen to bro.

  • only net time just a little slower

  • he man iv te same guitar les paul studio black only i have silver chrome things

  • hmm... i think that big bend is wrong... i'm not sure he plays more than one note there. other than that it sounds pretty slick

  • good sound

  • great cover - lesson :)

hope you guys can valuate mine as well

    watch?v=sa9Dqtaf1Zg

    cheers

  • Anyway, I think it would sound better if you palm muted single notes

  • 205 people try to play it.

  • @lemonpepsiandmentos I tried and I didn't FAIL

  • are you playng a jimmy live version or is it your own job ?? if its yours .. well done

  • Comment removed

  • You play it as good as Jimmy Page ever played it live. All Page's great solos were a one time deal on record. Live, he always screwed with them. People want to hear the classic version and this is it.

  • this is an awsome cover the best ive seen by far but i cant learn it without tabs do you have any please ???????????:D:D:D:D

  • how could 186 people dislike this?

    that was great!

  • @dwwhitesk8rdieman they are just jealous

  • @Aarnefin agreed!

  • @dwwhitesk8rdieman jealousy

  • @dwwhitesk8rdieman because it is'n right, sounds like robot play...

  • @dwwhitesk8rdieman 248 dl )))

  • As a beginner I'm learning this song/solo and it's quite easy, but that's with playing the solo at a slow tempo lol.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheGumboVariator

when he plays it slow its exactly like JP's version. when he played it regular he made mistakes. so I just think he messed up.

  • hey i have never understood why people disagree this, for me is pretty cool, sounds really well

  • As of this viewing, 175 people thumbed it down. I can only surmise they don't play guitar, and think if they saw Page live, it'd sound like the record......lmao! Nice touch here!

  • @LordSauceness people thumbed it down because, I'm assuming, they thought it would be Jim Page playing.

  • fuckin tight.... but not the same

  • are you using mini humbuckers?

  • @Simo573c nope. those are regular sized humbuckers

  • @abronxdude lol you like his balls?

  • IMO Page's most tasteful, bluesy solo. Thanks for posting.

  • Hell if ya go see Jimmy Page play this it wont be right! lol, Keep on rockin bro!!!!!!

  • @abronxdude o.O show us u can do better

  • goood

  • goood

  • ok. i have to admid.

    this is nice.

but i don't hear any rhythem....

  • @Steynnno thats cause its by itself w/o drums etc..

  • When people do covers, they don't have to play the exactly song, what's the sense of that? If you want to hear the same thing as the original track, then go and listen for the original track instead of a cover of that track. Everyone can do their versions of a song when they do covers, like Slash did with Knocking On Heaven's Door, which is completely different from the original version. I think it's a great cover this one, nice tone, keep going!

  • DAMN NICE

  • @abronxdude what the hell are you talkin' 'bout ? it's great

  • 159 people are copycats because they want an exactly identical solo

  • @chopper82p thumbs down

  • Great sound, what effects are you using?

  • very clean !

  • i dont understand how is this bad?

  • @screamin07 Its just how you set your amp

  • It's not bad, it's not perfect, but it's not as bad as some of you are making it out to be...

  • i bet this guy can play better than most of you...

  • @screamin07 if they're played like this they do...

  • Guys, you know what I think? I think we ought not to look at it as sloppy and criticize his playing but rather appreciate that someone is actually putting up good stuff. You guys all complain about "how much music sucks today!" and I equally agree... But isn't it rather contradictory when someone like this posts something for you to troll on it? What more to you want? T_T

  • I think this is kind of a free interpretation... check out jun626 or this guy...

    watch?v=g29Xe6ivuuE

  • @frusciante89 I've seen jun626's videos and he gets about as close to Page as anybody I've ever seen on youtube. As for the second guy...he didn't hit it perfectly either. Is that you with a different youtube account? Or your brother or something like that?

  • @dokokai - jun626 usually gets the solos really close, but I thought he missed the ball on this solo actually in 3 different spots. I'm gonna have to post me playing it tomorrow morning, I think I have it a lot closer, but admittedly it's really hard to get Jimmy Page's feel, especially since he totally improvised this solo. ;)

  • @Fretfeeler I reviewed his video again & your point is questionable. It seems to me he got the notes correct but the spots you are referring to may just be because of what you said about trying to get Page's feel. That is so true because Page's timing & technique were so unique & his feeling was a big part of his inimitable style. I think the issue with jun626's version is that its just a little mechanical in those spots so that may be where you're hearing it as incorrect.

  • @Fretfeeler Looking forward to hearing your version. Don't forget to open the wah to full treble position when you strike the first note of this solo and leave it open in that position for the duration. A lot of people miss that all together.

  • @dokokai - Yeah, for sure about that. I have to go get a paycheck but I'll put one up the next couple of days.

  • wrong thats NOT how its played

  • If you're trying to demonstrate a note for note version of the album solo, then you haven't done it. There are lots of inaccuracies, from length of notes, timing issues, some repeated notes are missing, you've added portamentos where none exist, etc. But you've gotten a nice tone.

  • Good stuff, thanks :)

  • Timing is something you've got to practice mostly.

  • What an insane sound !

when you play a short part of the main riff, it sounds just amazing ! Love it. I wish i could get the same with my les paul.

And thanks for the slow version.

  • The first note is wrong. It actually starts on the 13th fret and gets bent up 1 1/2 steps.

Don't you love a critic? Nice guitar however!

  • are u using 09 or 08 strings?

  • man very good cover , al that negative points are because u have not a backing track :S

  • Don't teach things you can't play. xD

  • Not bad - but not right either. Keep practicing!

  • I like this demo, it's got some pretty good tone, and the notes are right. I took the liberty of using the whole rhythm loops of the actual song loop, and played quite a few scales over it in my video response to this. As I explain in the video I did, I use the chord structure/root to get into solo progression, it's mainly improv, but we share some of the same scale and blues riffs. Good job.

  • you should take lessons from jun

  • Supposed to be played on a Telecaster. That's how Mr. Page recorded it.

  • @BobEllis79 its not supposed to he could play it on whatever guitar lol

  • @BobEllis79 not everyone has a telecaster

  • Supposed to be played on a Telecaster. That's how Mr. Page recorded it.

  • awsome playing and awsome guitar, i love black lp dunno why. makes my sunburst look ugly D:

  • this is hilarious

  • Too much compression man

  • chafeo u_u

  • sry but i must say taht i normlally improvse solos but solos like another brick in the wall from david gilmour or whole lotta love or staorway to heaven ar just not to improvise much

  • if u listen to it slow carefully, it sounds like your typical blues riff/solo, what page did was he turned the typical music at the time and blended into something awesome

  • nice custom bro i need to get me one a those

  • right on the money

  • nice

  • Come on people his is playing the solo with his own style, not imitating jimmy, for me thats cool, and original! and that o.d is cool! so Its nice!

  • @J0S30BDULIO closer to the album than Page ever played it live. Not like thats saying much ... lol

  • @J0S30BDULIO He's definitely imitating jimmy though :)

  • @J0S30BDULIO no tihis is the real studio style

  • @J0S30BDULIO nah, i think he tried to play just like jimmy but couldnt

  • Comment removed

  • @izzy92rock overdrive the shit out off your amp dude ;)

  • @izzy92rock he got that awesome sound at best buy. for only 19.99 you can fuck off and stop asking gay questions.

  • Oh come on now, people -- don't on him for not being Jimmy Page!

  • Kinda off in some places and too fast, but good job

  • a bit faster paced than the origonal

  • slow down

  • much different, too much stops...

    does not the same

  • =) LED Zeppelinn^^

  • dudde thats nasty way better sounding then when i play it haha good job

  • pretty damn good dude.

  • Thanks much. I always wondered how that one went. Got it now.

  • something sounds off there bout 95% correct

  • what gears do you use? it's a nice sound!!

  • Jimmy Page didn't use his pinky all the much

  • come on man... why do you have to do this to us?

  • people, this soundsquite right to me.

he did some improv but that's the way he likes it to be..

If you want to play/hear the original, listen to the record and experiment like this dude did.

I find it far more fun to take an existing tune and make that to my own desires than to blindly copy someone else.

Than again, NO solo JP played live sounded the same...ever!

  • Is that a epiphone black beauty or a gibson les paul custom? (or something else)

  • i think epiphone les paul custom ebony

  • i got the same guitar :D

  • ur sick man. ay can u send me those tabs

  • Why did you got thumbs down, even through what you said was true...

Oooh, yeah, people just you were rude... But still you are right, not wrong...

  • i agree with you. using my pinky does make things easier for me. but maybe not for him. obviously he is playing just fine w/o his. if thats the way he plays, then who are you to tell him otherwise?

  • unless he has arthritis in his pinky, i highly doubt its better to play like that. he even screwed up the first part of the solo. and watch how he bends with his index at a few parts, you don't have as much control or power as your middle finger

  • point of view man... you can build up the muscles in your hand to have the control and power of your middle finger.. (ring finger for me) you should be able to bend and sustain and vibrato a note with any of your fingers.. if you cant, than you have something to work on. if that is what is easier or more natural than him and he can do it. than why do you have a problem with it?

  • ya sorry i meant he was bending with middle and you have more power with and control with ring. i honestly don't know why it bugs me but it does, i see your point but to me it looks like he is inexperienced even tho he is

  • Each to their own.

I have far more power & control with my middle finger - it's stronger, I can certainly use my other fingers for bends and you'll see that in my other vids. Everyone learns and develops in their own way for various reasons. Michael Schenker 'never' uses his pinky at all, Slash and Clapton rarely use theirs. I do use my pinky, just not much when there are bends around!

Good to see a sensible discussion though, usually youtube brings out the worst. Cheers...

  • @classicrockriffs Well your other fingers could have just as much power as your middle if you use them. My pinky used to be very weak with bends but after playing with it for a while it has gotten stronger. And I wouldn't say its ok to not use your pinky just because Clapton and Slash don't. But yeah, each their own I guess. I try to use all my fingers because thats how I was taught and it does make it easier to use them all, at least for me anyways.

  • @zeppelin1996 To each their own. Of course it's more economical to use whatever finger is closest to the note. I use my pinky, but if I don't need to (because I have the time and control) I'd rather use my more powerful, controlled-finger to bend a note; There's just a better chance my middle finger will bend the note cleaner.

Even most fast-shredding metal guitarists don't bother bending notes with their pinky; it's just not really necessary. You can stay on beat and still use your middle.

  • @classicrockriffs exactly. each to their own. Gary Moore bends with his middle finger..

  • personally i don't use my pinky for bends but I use in other cases

  • You guys chill....its good framework...use your brain as well

  • you should listen to the original record again. you don't have the first pass quite right, you're missing a lot of dynamic note duration detail in the picking approach, the over the top bend going from the high e to b to g played all on the b string in the 4th. section and the overall "stucatto" picking attitude, not to mention you should be playing it on a tele with a wha in the down position

  • uh gracias man trataba de sacarlo al oido pero tu me lo arreglaste uff thank's

  • Gibson Les Paul! Look the Thrust Rod Cover! Only 2 screw! AWESOME GUITAR!!!! Awesome cover too!

  • Ok some one help me out here... On like the fourth measure of the solo when he hits the 20th fret what does he do? It's sounds like a bend but he did something else... What is it?

  • yes, 1/2 step

  • check this guy's lesson out.

Cut and Paste this into the search box:

Whole Lotta Love Lesson - Learn the Solo! (With Tabs)

He tabs it out and is exactly right on every note. He plays it a hair out of time at a couple parts when demo-ing, but if you listen to the original recording it is note for note. I was able to learn it wih the quickness through this guy's lesson.

  • No, not every right, I checked it out, there is mistakes...

  • you are absolutely right, dude.

I have since learned this solo by listening to the oringinal recording. There are a few mistakes here. A purist would also argue that a lot of the little nuances from JP's original are missed in this guy's lesson.

  • Plus, by slowing the solo by 100%, you'll get the same notes but in a lower octave, and you can hear every note perfectly, plus, the two chords that get hit in the beginning, in the studio, they are "Eminor to Emajor"... Which before I thought that both chords were Emajor, but no. Each time I hear the song, I can perfectly hear the difference of that one note of the difference of a minor chord and a major chord...

But the chord is up on the 7th fret, with an open lower E string.

  • i can't really tell but looks like an Epiphone Les Paul, just throwing that in there.

  • christ it's a goddamn gibson les paul custom

  • his les paul is a custom.

  • Not bad, but needs a little work.

  • you're funny.............looking

  • mintox!

  • amp settings?

  • you sir have GODLY tone god dammit i wish i had 6 grand

  • That's a Gibson Les Paul. Prbly a Standard

  • No it's a Custom, because you see the 2 white bindings

  • standards can have white binding too

  • Comment removed

  • I doubt its a standard... I have a standard, and I've never seen that finish on a standard. Standards also usually have the trapezoid inlays which dont go to the first fret, only to the third fret.

  • what kind of guitar is that

  • That playing is sloppy as hell.

  • ...and Jimmy Page was "Mr.Neat Riffs" huh?

  • He wasn't Mr. neat riffs, but this guy's timing was off, and some notes weren't even bothered to be played.

  • Jimmy Page was sloppy too on stage. Probably coked up or something.

  • Where's Vanderbilly when you need him? He's the king.

  • jun626 is really good to, you should check out his heartbreaker solo.

  • @Alawiggle page is sloppy and hes one of the best guitarist that ever lived, so if you wanna be a pussy-puss mcfagface and bitch about accuracy then your hiding the fact that hes a good guitarist

  • @Alawiggle so was pages.

  • @Alawiggle who gives a shit if its not textbook or any other crap, he's got his own style and he looks relaxed with it.

  • @Alawiggle ok now you post a video of you playing it perfectly just the way jimmy page plays it

  • Perfect riff man.

Anywhere I could find the tabs for this?

  • ....huh? try any guitar tab site.... wtf?

  • what is your amplifier?

  • i like your guitar. : )

  • good shit bro, i was up until 3 in the morning watching this until i could finaly play it myself XD

  • Excellent, glad to inspire you to learn it...

  • @chromehound1 That's weird becuase where I am it's 2:54 and I have my 170 dollar plastic epiphone and a forty dollar amp on super low looking for some good tabs!
