  • flew ATA to Las Vegas twice on L1011's. It wasn't exactly first class seating, but it was fast, direct & cheap. Hard to get a non-stop to flight to Vegas at all from here....sure do miss the cool sounds of the "L's".

  • Thanks for posting. I miss aTa. :(

  • Amazing Video I subscribed!

  • Any video showing the Lockheed is a great one.

  • i flew on ata on chartered flights when I was in the Marine Corps. Great service from the crew everytime I flew with them

  • I enjoyed seeing ATA at my hometown CAE several times during the military charters they used to run here...

  • I miss ATA everyday. It was the best job I ever had! Flyin' around the world with little or no support. and havin' a blast doin' it!

  • i flew on ata from mdw to rsw when i was a child

  • worst airline i ever worked for, michelson had no idea how to run a airline.

  • I flown ATA Airlines 1 time only. It had nice Chairs :)! But now its Gone :(

  • I love this company..they had the most smoothes flights ever i miss you ata

  • Great Memories!

  • I remember I was in middle school and saw an ATA 757 parked at a gate in Maui. I thought it looked cool.

  • is it really true that ATA never had a crash??

  • True !

  • The airline was not making a profit, its main money maker was the huge military charter contract. When the Military went with a different charter it killed ATA

  • Yes, Southwest truly put the final few nails in its coffin with their start of a hub at Chicago MDW. I can remember back when I flew to Chicago and ATA occupied 14 of the 17 terminal gates and WN only had 2 or 3. Seems like not a year after that I was there again only to see a sea of canyon blue and southwest orange with maybe two ATA blue gates, plus naturally the tiny squeeze in of Frontier, NWA, Delta and at the time TED (glad to see UA realized MDW was not their strong point)

  • I agree ! I flew ATA out of Chicago's Midway airport to Los Angeles LAX many times. Loved the color scheme & the service. I thought the airline was growing & making a profit due the increase in routes in the Caribbean & Pacific islands.

  • Sadly it turned out the other way:( Alas, life moves on and perhaps someday we will see ATA come back as a different carrier in Chicago (like Frontier in 1994):)

  • @tierren 100% agreed. I flew numerous times with ATA from LA to Chicago. The color scheme was very inviting and the service was always excellent. I remember one of my flights arrived at LA just the day before September 11, 2001.

  • Agreed!

  • Looked so much like TWA, both great airlines.

  • I Use To Fly ATA But It Is Gone. Nice Song Breakaway Could Break Our Hearts About ATA Bye ATA Have A Nice Day For This Day. Hey What Kind Of Plane Did ATA Turn Too.

  • wHATS THE SONG?

  • Kelly Clarkson is the artist. It is the title song of her album of the same name; Break Away.

I flew for ATA for almost 15 years. B-727, B-737, B-757, L-1011. I am sad that it has ended, but I loved every minute!

  • I travelled with ATA twice from Prestwick SCOTLAND to ORLANDO FL via GANDER.

L1011 Aircraft, great crew, fantastic food...just brilliant flights....so sad to see them go.

  • Did Air Canada Nearly Go Bankruot Sometime in The Past And They Made Some Celine Dion Ad or some thing, what was that?

i miss Canadian Airlines, good memories when i was very young, now i have only flown on United/Aircanada. =(

  • I only flew ATA twice but it was great! I really miss the Big Ed Holiday Colors L1011 plane!!!

  • Big Ed!! What fun we had on that plane!! Snow Camp...

  • my friend's dad bought a ticket through ata the day before it went out of business.

  • im going to cry i love ATA to death im so sad can we all pitch in some money and help ATA i rele miss them

  • god i luv ATA.....makes me sad that there gone.... first time i ever flew was on an ATA 757 from seattle to chicogo

  • will they ever be resurrected?

  • ive flown ata many times, their service started to decline pretty much around 2003, a year before they filed for bankruptcy. one of the best airlines of the 90's. and cool planes... hated flying them in the 2000's but loved it in the 90's

  • Msg me or Cmmt What song ♫ is this?

  • =( I really miss ATA. We were a really nice team. God bless all former ATA employees, especially the SJU team.

  • u2

Th best company and most fun i ever had working fixing jets

  • Thanks u are the best

  • As a former ATA employees yes the airline was great but unfortunately they treated there employees like Hebrew Slaves. And how did we all find out we were losing our jobs? God damn NBC news.

  • Yeah too bad, i left by then. Sometimes I wish I rode it out. i left b4 they closed the doors.

No chance of ata resurrecting eh?

  • They are so nice. When I was 8 and went to Maui, HW. They let me pass out the mints and collect trash, When we went back to san fransisco. They were the best. When we landed thhe pilot showed me the cocpit. He even offered to let me talk to the tower... My mom said maybe I should talk to the people in the back of the plane. That was the best flight ever... Thank you guys so much

  • although airlines have to follow rules set by the FAA, I have worked for a few airlines and I can tell you ata ppl are laid back and not stuck up like delta, american, us air, etc.

  • ATA was a great airline. I loved their commercials. I'm gonna go easy go ATA, I'm gonna go easy go ATA. LOL Flew from Midway Chicago to San Juan, 1999. Great airline. Best rates around. Thanks ATA & to those who flew us passengers to our places, we are grateful that our lives were in such good hands thousands of feet in the air each and every time. God bless all the great ATA pilots and flight attendants for your years of dedication, quality service, & hospitality. It will never be forgotten :)

  • i will miss AtA

  • Thanks for the memory! God bless you all!

    From Herman Roque Chicago, Il

  • No one will care, but I learned a word while I was on a flight with ATA. I miss ATA!

  • MDX MX was the BEST!!!!

  • A really sad moment when they ceased operations. And this vid gives me a tear in the eye.

  • Ata rocks!!!

  • great airline nice video!!! The L-1011 looks great in the Palm Tree livery!!!

  • "Breakaway" by Kelly Clarkson, the 1st American Idol winner

  • song??????

  • I flew ATA several times to Orlando from Indianapolis and back. They stood true to their motto: An honestly different airline!

  • this is enough to make me cry - again. Worked there for 3 years; I wish it'd been 30. Never met such a great group of folks.

  • I'll miss ATA. I worked as a Ground Service Rep for them. I had some great trips flying with them! Good Memories!

  • Eos is next, today is there last day

  • get ready, Frontier airlines maybe next. lets hope that doesnt or theres a problem with some major airlines. Rest in peace-Skybus Aloha airlines, and ATA

  • Frontier is not going under yet....we are still in a strong position and we have a HELL OF ALOT better customer base than Southwest or United in Denver. We CAN win and we're gonna do everything we can to stay alive.

  • ATA worked for 35 years! Aloha still has cargo operations this year.

  • @Flamingos40 that sucks I wanted to be a co-pilot on the A319 for frontier.

  • i am so sad they r gone i loved them!

  • I still cant beleive there gone. I reamember seeing them at LGA. I will miss them.

  • So long ATA. I worked real close with ATA in DTW for many years. Great people. You all will be missed. :(

  • ATA laid off hundreds of mechanics and outsourced its maintenance to unqualified and understaffed repair stations under the banner of saving costs. They went belly up anyway. Good riddance! BTW, a simple slide show with stupid music... so ATA.

  • Can understand how annoyed you are after ATA doing that. Have you re-trained as only about 250 L1011`s were ever made and only about 30 or so still flying worldwide.

  • but hey maybe the saying "the good dies young" is true

  • this is my fav tribute

  • Its true that all good things comes to an end. Au revoir ATA, 'till the end...

  • Perfect song for the montage. I used to ride on ATA and really enjoyed them.

  • Being a part of ATA for the past 2 and half years I could proudly say we did our best to service each and every customer we had. We will very much miss you ATA...we love you..Thanks for this video...ATA Manila

  • "I was born in a small town and i live in a small town and i died in a small town and that's where they will bury me" I worked for ATA for ten years working my way up from Ramp Agent to Management and I would not trade it for anything. I will cherish the friends I have made and still have and will have for the rest of my life. We were the best airline because we knew how to take care of our customers. We all will be alright!

    Tom Walsh

  • No, actually we flew EVERYWHERE.

  • well ... mk ... what about Atlanta .. or the other major cities? they could have made a killing!

  • pretty good .. but no wonder they went under .. they didn't fly anywhere!

  • Check your facts but if you need it I will send you a list of everywhere we have flown.

  • I flew for ATA for six years. The crewmembers there were fantastic! Good luck to all of you, I wish you all of the best!

    tim kroeze

  • This is an awesome video boeing7372. It inspired me to create my own. ATA was a great airline and I'll never forget those tv/radio ads: "On ATA, You're on Vacation!"

  • I flew for ATA for ten years in the good ol'days and haven't missed them since I left 14 years ago...maybe because I knew the friends I made were still flying. Now sadly my husband is one of those whose career was cut short with no warning. We will survive and will never forget the good old days! The good, the bad, the ugly... ATA you will be missed and remembered always with rose- colored glasses!

  • It sucks to work for an airline that goes out of business. I didnt work for ATA but I used to work for Tower Air back in the days until they went under. As a matter of fact I know some people from Tower Air that went to ATA. Keep your heads up my airline brothers and sisters(Again). Apply at Omni. THEY ARE STRONG

  • Thank-you! That was beautiful. I was a flight attendant there for 10 years and my husband was still a pilot. The employees (management not included) were very special. Thanks again for a beautiful tribute.

  • You're very welcome. Again my thoughts and prayers to you and every other ATA employee.

  • i was suppose to fly ATA the day they went bankrupt. i ended paying $1000(regularly $300) just to get home.

F*** ATA! the only reason they went bankrupt is because their parent company tried to make aloha airlines bankrupt, and look what happened, ATA went bankrupt. the only people who deserve a true tribute is the fine men and women who didn't know they were losing a job as of midnight april 2, 2008.

  • Your really nasty.... ATA was a great airlines you dont know what the hell your talking about...go to sleep you need some rest buddy!!!!

  • Wow, buddy.... This tribute is made FOR everyone who loved ATA and the people there.

  • did aloha go out of business to

  • yes :(

  • damn it!

  • TO Everyone who enjoyed this video, particularly ATA employees:

Thank you so much for all your comments, they really mean alot to me. I assure you that my thoughts and prayers go out to all ATA employees. I am in the airline industry and I worry everyday about the airline I work for. Good luck to all ATA employees and thank you for ALL the many GREAT years you gave to the United States.

  • Great tribute video to a great airline. I only worked for ATA for a couple years...but I owe wonderful experiences and memories to ATA. My heart goes out to those who are left without their airline.

  • Thanks boeing7372 for the beautiful video.

15 years with ATA made dreams come true.

ATA will be in my heart forever.

  • Your very welcome....Again my thoughts and prayers go out to all ATA employees, it is so hard to see so many ATA veteran employees loose their jobs like that. Many thoughts and prayers with you all.

  • ATA meant a lot to me, ever since I born, ATA was my legacy of choice. A lifetime passenger, 15 years of flying with them, never let down. You will be my beloved airline ATA, I don't want to say goodbye after 45 years on exceptional service.

  • 2008; the airline death plague, especially the week of 3-30 to 4-5.

  • My Thanks to the ATA crews that were so generous with their jumpseats in the 90's. They took me from OGG to the Mailnand many times. Many Happy Trails and best of luck to all!

  • i flew boeing 272 from NY to midway chicago!! 2003

  • I was a 14 year pilot and have made some great life long friends. We did some great work over the years. We flew to places that people havn't heard of. Thanks for the great tribute this puts all of our years into perspective. It was about the people we came into contact with. What an awsome ride

  • Thank you for the video. I worked at ATA as an F/A for only a short while, but I met and married my best friend from there... ATA Pilot, J Mahanor....Good luck to you all... N Mahanor

  • what will they do to their planes

  • Awesome Tribute. I worked as a Mechanic for 21+ years and I have 1 million great memories. From all over the world to working here in Indy.

I will miss all my friends I made at ATA over the last 22 years. From other mechanics, to pilots, flight attendants, ramp agents and everyone else I met along the road.

It was a great ride and I hated to see us go.

ATA will always be a part of my life until the day I die.

    Good Bye ATA...... :(

    Tom Breece

    Indybreece

  • Easy now, carefull, No Tom Flannery......

  • I did 22 + years, seen many places and things I never would have otherwise. Great people and friendships. Memories that will live on. Dispite everything and not getting it in return, all of the employee's were very LOYAL to ATA.

    " I'll flip ya for a DEW"

  • Wow, what a great video. I was an "Indy Princess" for 4 great years. I packed a lifetime of memories into those short years.

Management always left so much to be desired, but my co-workers were unbelievable.

  • Great piece.....I was a TZ Warrior for 8 great years. The best friends anyone could wish for.

  • MDW mechanic for 7 years..... It was a blast!!!!!

  • I flew them a couple times between Grand Rapids, MI and CA when I was in the Marines. I also flew L-1011-500 N194AT from March ARB to Kuwait.

I can't believe they're gone. They were one proud little airline...with their blue and gold banners and the way they threw movies at you until you were at the gate. I will miss them.

    Tim

  • they were some of the best but looks like they're time is done :(

  • ATA F/A for 6 great years... I will miss you!

  • Thanks. Incredible employees. More flying fun than I thought possible. ATA pilot

    (retired)

  • Excellent Tribute.

    Captain Hank,

If you look really, really close at :38, 1:15 and 3:15... I think I can see you. YOUR the guy with the GIANT SMILE pressed up behind the windshield aren't you!!!

Retired or not... I'd ride in anything you'd fly Captain Hank.

  • its so sad to see another airline go =(

  • Thank you for appreciating us and our service. As an ATA Flight attendant for 20 years it is so sad to see a company that had so much stamina and potential fall victim to poor management. Mahalo from Jeff

  • I was going to post disses about ATA..because I have to repurchase tickets for a trip...

However, I've read other comments from flight attendents and others...and it got me thinkin..

Spending an extra couple hundred bucks isn't so bad when comparing it to the people who have suddenly lost their jobs and those who were standed when ATA declared bankruptcy.

Things could be a lot worse! What the hell was I whining about?!

  • Thanks-because while the comments are understandable when people have been stranded or have to replan trips, there are many of us who were very devoted to ATA and it pains us to hear negative comments. The majority of us commuted. And, corny as it sounds, I for one would have worked for free to get our loyal passengers to their destinations.

  • Thanks for posting the tribute! What a perfect song to go with the photos. I was employed as an ATA f/a for 20 years and am thankful for the friendships I've made, the many countries I got to travel to, and the honor in flying the military personnel and their families all over.

  • ata u will be missed

  • so does it mean that since aloha, skybus, and ATA will not fly again until they get some money?

  • Yes, that is correct to a certain extent, however the more likely option for these airlines is that they will never fly again :( :( :(

  • that is so sad

  • Add Oasis Airways to that list.

  • Thanks so much everyone! I am so thankful for your comments. We will always remember ATA!

  • THANK YOU I worked as a flight attendant for ATA for 10 years this video breaks my heart but thank you very much.

  • Your welcome-I am so so sorry for what has happened to all the airlines that went under last week. I know I am in the industry-we are all on the verge of it. So your very welcome and I wish you an e-kleenex for your tears

  • all i have 2 say is that this is very sad that they are going out of service! not being mean but now all the other airlines are goin 2 have alot of new aircaft

  • this video makes me cry.

  • I flew ata years back when it flew to msp.

  • we will miss u ata airlines too

  • Great Viseo man! ATA will always be remembered in our hearts.
