If your ak has a long barrel that is in good condition, there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to hit something at that range.

Your colt is just a handgun, the AK-47 can tear through cement blocks, it can shoot straight through wood, and it's much more accurate than the magnum due to its lower recoil. It also has more range and an automatic firing mode.

I'd like to see you go head to head with a guy with an AK-47 when you're armed with your colt. You'll see that it's no kiddy toy

IMHO, I would pick a 5.56 gun over a 7.62, as 5.56 travels faster and it fragments before it reaches its target making effectiveness better. Don't get me wrong, the 7.62 is badass, but its a little to heavy and innacurate.

If he didn't hit the first time he's got 29 more to make life unbearably difficult for someone at 400 yards, if not lethal. Many AR's won't do that either. Its a battle rifle, not a sniper's weapon. I think, there is no need, for an assaultrifle, to be that much accurate. reliablility is much more important. Whith the AK 47 one has no problem to hit targets at 200 m and you won't see a malfunction. Thats good. But there are better rifles on the market, that combine precision and reliablility. Like the G36, Galil or HK-416. A recent sandchamber test makes it obvious. While the M4 reached more than 800 jams, the SCAR and HK-416 had both slightly over 200. And the XM8 only had 127 jams.

I have a bushmaster M4 16 inch carbine and a WASR-10. There is no comparison when it comes to accuracy, most ARs will trump AKs any day, but you also need to take care of the ARs, they require a LOT more care than any AK.

I have an HBAR upper that can shoot with some of the best bolt actions. If I want to use heavier ammunition, I can change the upper to a 6.8, .300WSM, .50BEO, or even your 7.62x39 or 5.45x39. When i finally get my license the first thing i'll do is to buy an SVD Dragunov and a semi-auto AK version, i fancy the longer barreled ones but i have a deactivated AMD-65 becouse i'm a patriot and it is a very attractive weapon. i knew a guy who fought with an AK47 in former Yugoslavia, he was positive about the thing,had no trouble hitting an enemy, even if you hit only in the foot or in the shoulder, you win. firefights always occur at less than 300 yards. It's most important that your gun works,accuracy comes next.Adrenaline dumps in real fights make your eyes unfit to use the sights properly. People forget war is different than the shooting range.

Having fired an AK47 and an AR-15, I can say the sights and stock design on the ak47 are TERRIBLE. Its almost impossible to get a sight picture, you have to practically turn your head sideways to get the sights aligned.

The m16 is better. It may not look it in target practice, but for actual killing it is because the back of the 5.56 mm 223 cal bullet is more heavy then the front and when it hits the target it goes into a spin because of this. The force on the spin becomes to great and causes the bullet to break into fragments in the body of the target. This almost assures death. Also if you take care of an m16 you will not have a problem with any jams.

You're right on the 556. I've heard official studies showed that the wound caused by the 7.62Soviet is no better than a handgun wound. It's problem is it brings enough(slightly more than 5.56) energy to the body, but it penetrates too much and doesn't fragment, so too little of it is deposited on the target.

BTW the AK can be an accurate weapon. The right ammo, the right shooter, the trigger really helps if you have a nice one, and the rifle. I find that AK's vary in accuracy from rifle to rifle.

He is somewhat right, the weapons that are used today for the most part are AKM's. The first AK47's used milled receivers and I am not sure of the exact date but I believe in the mid-late 60's the major countries that were producing the AK47's started making them from 1.0mm stamped sheet metal receivers and then it was called the AKM. So most of the guns you see are AKM's but everyone calls them AK47's which is fine. Some AK47's are still out there, but are old and not very co mmon.

Probably a Romanian AKM. 4-6 inch groups are normal. I hit a pop can at 100 yards standing once. 300m is usually described as the AKs effective range but you may be able to hit something at 400, but I've never tried.

ak47 are still in fucking use its the best assualt rifle out there its almost impossible to break and easy to clean theyre not used by most countries but i think russia still uses it other then that mostly terriost countrys

China doesn't use the Ak-47 anymore. They use a combination of a new weapon called the QBZ-95 and a weapon that resembles an Ak-47 (but has different internal mechanisms).

yeah cus they figured a way to make the ak-47 into a shotgun and they just went with the new design, its black and all metal. i think it looks stupid cus the ak-47 is popular because its so sexy lookin lol. it is a cool looking gun.

The shotgun that looks like an Ak-47 is actually a Russian design called the Saiga 12. The Chinese Ak-47 advancement is called the Type 81 and is a longer more accurate version. Their current weapon though is the QBZ-95 which is an entirely new design.
