Mandalay - Beautiful - Nvidia FX5900XT Dusk Demo

Had this card for years it was almost as powerful as a 5900 Ultra. From what I've heard the 5900XT version was very hard to come by since it was just a small bit slower then the ultra version. Prices-wise the ultra was almost 2 times as expensive yet with the performance maybe 10% better. People say the 5 series sucked, I say the 5900XT was a damn good video card, it had extreme performance for a decent cost.

I had an FX5900xt back in 03/04. Sucked being locked in DX8.1 playing HL2. Upgraded that to a 6800GS unlocked to GT settings (16/6). Now I use an "old" 9600GT and am getting ready to upgrade that to a GTX 460 or 475. Nvidia really makes some awesome gpu's.

the video was amazing. some of the best CG stuff ive seen. especially those shots from behind that showed strands of hair setting off the sky.

just wish that on some parts she'd keep her mouth closed cause then it starts to feel awkward, like pron.

judgeviper, yes, the song is wonderful, but it is not the original music provided with the NVIDIA demo.

I used only the video part of the demo, moved the camera, recorded to video and edited. Obviously syncronized with the music.

It's a remix of the song "Beautiful" by the group Mandalay. The remix version was used for the closing credits of the HBO movie "Iron Jawed Angels".

strange, i only get about 3 fps on dusk with a 6200 and yet i can play the jericho demo with med/high settings with 25-32 fps

thats because the g60 family(6200) have less vertexx shaders and use alot of pixel shaders, the dusk demo was made to use only vertex shaders so all the power of the 6200 goes to waist :(. most modern cards only have about 4 vertex shaders, and have like, 32 pixel shaders, but even my weak ass 5200 has 6 vertex shaders, and the 5900 had about 10, also, the ati cards like the 9800 had 14.newer cards have unified shaders to get rid of this problem, ati 2900 has upwards of 72 unified shaders...

I built computers since 1994. It is all in you set it up. I now have a 7800 GS in my AMD 2600+ and Oblivion is maxed at 1600x1200 outside at 25+FPS.

theres no way a amd 2600 and geforce 6800gs can run oblvion at 1600x1200 with settings maxed out maybe if that was a amd 3200 and a geforce 7900gt

i ran it just fine with a 9550 agp and an xp2000 chip.

Startup BS slows you down. Also tweak oblivion .ini.

When i run msconfig and check my startup items, i have none. Also notice his video card has ddr3 ram in it. This makes me think he really has an 8600 not 6800, and i have that card and it destroys oblivion. The ram is OC'd in it to 900mhz. I also went athalonx2 4800 recently. But NWN2 still bogs down :(

I have this demo and I don't understand why she is very choppy. About 7 fps on an AMD 2600+ BFG Geforce 6800 OC 256MB DDR3 RAM, system RAM 1GB. It should NOT be so damn slow on a machine that runs Oblivion almost maxed at 1600x1200.
