  • I keep seeing a buzz idea recently "non-believers do the best religious music". This guy proves that theory wrong!

  • thankyou

  • I love him! He inspires me!

  • The only videos on Youtube that I have ever seen with so many views and without any dislikes are Blind Willie Johnson's songs.

  • This song makes me think about days when I had no job.

  • This song is so soulful it makes me cry sometimes... :(

  • Hay. All right. The old school church. Wonderful. Makes me think about Black History.

  • Peace and Grace be in abundance to you Brother William

  • THANKS TO BWJ, MY HEART, FOR A WHILE, BECOMES PURE AND INNOCENT AND WITHOUT SIN. HE MAKES ME WANT TO PRAISE GOD TO THE HIGHEST.

  • Fuck I love this guy

  • a band called friendly stranger covers this it is probably the coolest version youll find

  • @roehee1234 I'm looking up that version as we speak. You should check out the Colin Stetson version of it over there on the right ---> (if it's there). It features kick-ass singer Shara Worden on vocals and the song is just generally eerily wonderful. Martin Simpson also does a great version, too. Sorry, I just love good covers. PEACE!

  • Powerful stuff. I just scored an original 78 rpm copy of this song, backed w/ "Keep Your Lamp Trimmed and Burning." Incredible!!!!!!!!!

  • This is my favorite Blind Willie Johnson song..I love the way his wife sings along with the slide guitar...they're harmony together is just beautiful

  • Powerful, soul stirring music !

    The Lord is HEAVY.

  • this immediately brought me to the memory of my grandparents. i thank you so much for allowing me to just go there with this post. this is a blessing...thank you so very much. my father was a part of the jubilee quartet gospel generation of the 50's and 60's, playing the guitar and he would love this. i can't wait to play this for him. wow.

  • Wonderful. What a blessing this song is.

    Thank you for posting.

  • Thanks for posting this! I first heard him on a gospel compilation lp. This guy had a very unique & rough voice. You just don't hear singers like this anymore, unfortunately. There was a friend of my family that we called Brother Brown who was blind but sung gospel. He reminds me of Blind Willie Johnson because they both were blind but both had rough voices. Unfortunately, he's gone also.
