@TheWolfhond13 -Heck yeah...If you haven't checked out Joe Bonamassa or Black Country Communion yet, you should! It's not Southern R&R..but they have brought back Classic Rock and blues back....
takes me back to 1976 when these guys (who I never heard of before or since) were on the bill at the Vetch Field Swansea (thet were memorable) the line up as I recall was as follows
Some band whose name I forget followed by Widowmaker, The Outlaws, Little Feat, SAHB (Alex Harvey) The Who. Great days mate!
Although I'm from Ohio, there's no doubt that my heart has ALWAYS been one of southern decent. And this band, let alone song, absolutely kicks MAJOR ass! One of the best of all-time. Long live The Outlaws...from one outlaw to another.
I bought this album when it came out. Even after all these years I swear to God I still get goose bumps when I hear this song. There is nothing that even comes close to GGHT. Hughie Thomasson had his finger on the pulse of Rock and Roll when he wrote this song.
Detroit Lions Fans ....don't get this,..........New York Yankees Fans dont get this,......the Hunchback at Notre Dame,...He dont git this. Whole Bunch of PBR drinking, Tubing down the River, Brothers and Sisters of mine KNOW,.....that it is ALL, and VERY GOOD!
Let's let Karen Carpenter just be what she was..one of the greatest female voices ever to grace the ears of mankind .She played the drums because she could hide behind them , because she thought until her death , that she was over weight , and that affliction is what killed her.
Some douche bag named Ken at Devry college use to list to this song like 20 times a day. Ken, I cant beleive it, I actually like it now! Oh, and your still a douche!
@1979mackdriver.....I liked Karen's voice but yeah man, she couldn't hold a candle to the great John Bonham. These magazines ratings of musicians lack integrity even if they blame it on write in votes!
@Bujin123456 In your opinion. Everyone is free to like what they like. They may not like this, and they are perfectly right in doing or not doing so. Your music does not have to appeal to anyone and it certainly does not, and the same goes the other way. I too like to battle and use my bias and opinion and musical theory and history and statistics to prove points as to why what I like is superior to other things. But I know in my head it is all vain because musical interest in an opinion.
@waterguyroks...Exactly as you say and you know Rolling Stone would probably put Madonna in the 100 greatest guitarists list too because she has been known to pick up a guitar and strum it on stage just because of popularity. That's alright though because everybody knows R.S. sold out on it's readers years ago.
@gambler731 Most of Rolling Stone's lists are terrible. They just put in the most popular artists, not the ones that actually deserve to be there. They put Kurt Cobain in the #12 spot if I remember right, yet no Satriani or Slash there. It's bullshit.
@waterguyroks Slash is not any super great player. He is more of an image; iconic, that a skilled musicians. Slash just sticks to his same ol' blues scales for the most part. Don't get me wrong, I love Slash but I know it is wrong to say he is any legend for his PLAYING. He is a legend, but in a different light. I do agree, however, that those lists are garbage. Cobain was nothing; there is not a way around it. His person and songs were influential whereas his playing was not.
@penningtonant I somewhat agree with you on Slash. I personally don't think he's as amazing as many people say, but I still think he's pretty good and definitely better than many guitarists on the list. I just mentioned him because he's more well-known than other, better guitarists that I also felt should have been on the list. Marty Friedman is one. In fact I found heavy metal (arguably the genre with the most complex guitar work) to be oddly lacking in the list.
@gambler731.........All those rags can blow it out their collective paper asses. Playboy mag in 1973 or 74 rated karen carpenter a better drummer than john bonham . journalism hasn't changed a bit
@gambler731 That list's a fucking joke. Eddie Van Halen gets the low end of the stick while the place Kurt Cobain at #13. Jeff Beck, Joe Satriani, and Steve Vai, among others, are nowhere to be seen.

@mrgdizzle88 I completely agree. My favorite types of music are hip-hop, death metal and dubstep. Widen your musical interests and you'll find something out there that you will enjoy.
I don't know if growing up now is the worst time for music because at least it's all accessible and when you find someone who likes it, you know you've hit gold. I'm 17 and love all Led Zep and the Outlaws, Molly Hatchet, Johnny Cash etc, but I don't mind that there's other music, at least it means that I know off the bat who has a decent taste and who doesn't and they're not just saying they like my music cause it's mainstream. Yano?
@dude75able...You remind me of the screwball in the movie, What about Bob, who doesn't have a life and won't leave his shrink doctor alone. Only your Bob and this site is your shrink. You also go around under other names like TableAvacado harrassing anybody affiliated with this song. Get a life!
thats because music has become a business not a passion as it was soo many years ago im a fairly young individual and i listen to lots of music thats good its merely a opinion but i cant not agree more my friend more young kids need to gets slapped with some records of music that will stand the tests of time unlike these Disney clones no one will remember them in ten years disposable music!
JACKSONVILLE COLISEUM... Allman Brothers, Lynard Skynard, Leon Russell, Marshall Tucker jammed and we went to all of the concerts too many to name, cause we bought local!
The Outlaws live were phenomenal. I got to see them one time in a small ballroom at a community college out on Long Island. From the middle of the show straight through the encore of Green Grass, got to sit on the edge of the stage looking up at the band. It was amazing. Walked out of there with my ears ringing, but loved every minute of it. One of the best concert experiences I ever had.
My favorite southern Rock tune. How it got any dislikes is beyond me. Just goes to show you there is such thing as good taste and bad taste in music. If you dont like this, you have lousy taste in music and should get your head examined.
Loved seeing them in concert. They played the weekend before the tragic Who concert in Cincinnati. It was soooo crowded at the old Riverfront Collisium. There was three bands.... Be Bop Deluxe, Molly Hatchet anhen the Outlaws.... By the time we got inside done missed the first band because they only opened on ticket window. Molly Hatchet brought down the house and then here came the Outlaws. The ABSOLUTE best concert ever and I have been to many over the years..Aerosmith sucks in concert
@007dicktator its not easy but if you just let them have the last word (like a smart ass teenager)they'll go away wondrin what happened...great tune tho, huh?
you say justin bieber, I say Go Kill Yourself
You say Flowers, I say Trees LOL

thats because music has become a business not a passion as it was soo many years ago im a fairly young individual and i listen to lots of music thats good its merely a opinion but i cant not agree more my friend more young kids need to gets slapped with some records of music that will stand the tests of time unlike these Disney clones no one will remember them in ten years disposable music!
