  • I worked 5 weeks for AOL, and what an eye opener.....I left after being told I had to to get .my call rate down to 2.41 if Charles Dunstan knew what was happening there I am sure he would have pulled out before. Hundreds of customers had cancelled their accounts 6 months before.and the D/D were still being taken......I wanted to take a call work my through the mess and sort it out....but not allowed it had to go another level.... problems.....I could write a complete article.

  • a few years ago, i got an aol account and when i tried to cancel my account, i was threatened, they said they would report me to police and black-mail me for canceling. what the fuck. FUCK YOU AOL!!! it's a good thing nobody uses you anymore, hope you go bankrupt, pos. :)

  • They did the same fucking thing to my family. They would honestly offer to give it to us for free, but what the fuck was the point? Just let us the fuck go. they terrorized my mother.

  • Just cancel the FUCKING ACCOUNT! I was so wishing he would have said that.

  • When I canceled AOL for my dad after explaining to him that he didn't need AOL to get online, i got harassed by the person from AOL. I said "I don't want AOL bc Firefox is the best thing in the history of the universe" and the person said "We are so much better than Firefox" and I went on a rant about taking up half my dad's RAM & crashing all the time & costing money, he was still trying to sell AOL, I told him "You would argue the Titanic rules while it's sinking!" LOL he FINALLY gave up then

  • AOL's CEO disliked this video.

  • What a lame aol.

  • If you think that's bad AOL took money out of my account 6 times in one day in March of this year. Six times in one day. They say it has nothing to do with them although it says AOL on my bank account they say it was McAffee. But I can't get it sorted out. McAffee send emails but do nothing. Am now in a situation where I cannot phone out on Talk Talk and have been without my phone service for over a month.

  • I HATE aol!

    Evil Corporation!!!

  • Army of Losers. I had a similar experience, WORSE actually. I wish I had recorded it. The jerkoff I spoke to literally told me, "if you don't cooperate with me I'm going to make sure you never stop getting billed from America On Line." At at that point I just hung up and called back and got someone nicer. Then I spoke to her boss and told him I will never put a single penny into the pockets of that corporation ever again. I'm so glad that company is going down in flames. AOL is TRASH.

  • @bcc1976 Really? My God they should should call it AOL - A-merica online O-perated by L-ame idiots.

  • Assholes On Line.

  • i kno it was a hard time for Vincent, but that made my day I LAUGHED LIKE CRAZYYYY AHAHAHAHHAHA

    "CANCEL THEE ACCOUNT"

  • This is funny but it isnt the full length version, the conversation was much longer, you should upload the full conversation.

  • I wonder if AOL employees get paid extra to fuck with people like this.

  • They actually do get paid if a customer continues on with their account. also it is part of their high pressure sales tactics. They figure if they piss someone off enough, then they will just keep the service. It should be illegal

  • It should be but its funny as hell.

  • @broadhead6 the employee answering the call supposedly got fired

  • @popball10 I would actually be suprised. Publicly they probably said he got fired but behind closed doors I'm sure he got a good job talk and went on with his job.

  • @broadhead6 On your related videos if you haven't seen it already!

    watch?v=m7qWg2TZoPU&feature=related

  • @greendaysaint8302 All call centers are the same - "keep the guy on the phone. Rebuttle, rebuttle, rebuttle."

  • @greendaysaint8302

It is, it's called strongarming. The BBB (Better Business Bureau) looks down on it severely.

  • @broadhead6 Actually, that's what they're trained to do. Its always the companies that pressure the employees to do this. They'd most likely get fired if they didn't push as hard as they could to keep customers. So its really not just a matter of a few bonuses.

  • @broadhead6 Actually they did. If you look up AOL on wikipedia you'll see that there was a lot of controversy over large bonuses that were handed out to people who did this to retain customers. In fact, they had a manual for this tactic that illustrated the technique of pissing someone off or delaying them until they simply keep the service. It was released to the public in PDF format, check it out. Un-fucking-believable.

  • Fuck AOL. It's so 1999.

  • What's worse? AOL + Bank of America!

Canceled AOL who billed my bank account anyway. Called bank, told them to stop paying AOL. This happened for the next two months despite phone calls. Talked personally to the branch manager. Finally, no more AOL payments.

    But, guess what?

BOA expected me to pay them for the bills I did not authorize + $33 for each overdraft caused by the billing. Add interest and they wanted over $500 for what was originally $120. Refused to pay. Haven't had to yet.

  • The AOL Rep was doing what he was hired to do.

The department is called "Saves" and their job is to save accounts. I did this job for two months before I quit. It's a horrible job.

I can almost guarantee that the employee was not fired. He was doing what he is expected to do. If he had just cancelled the account without spending at least 3 minutes trying to "save" the it he would have been reprimanded.

Mr. Ferrari did the right thing. Stay calm and keep repeating that you want to cancel.

  • he was fired according to a statement from AOL

  • The caller was also up for a fight. The AOL retention center is no different from others, the caller was short and aggressive also. I could of made that same call and it would of been better.

  • Short? This call was fairly long not mentioning the 6 minutes it took to talk to a representative. He was also very calm and direct leaving little to question his intent on canceling. This caller recorded the call because he had heard numerous accounts from other people on how hard it was to cancel their AOL accounts so he taped it and experienced it himself. I don't think the employee himself was at fault and as it's obvious that the company encouraged this behavior in it's employees.

  • @botchalism Exactly - no need to defend the rep. The problem here as everyone knows is that this is a POLICY of the company. The company needs to go down - and it is thank god. I had to call and get into conversations longer than this (10 mins) and they said they would cancel it, only to find it was NOT cancelled and I was still being charged monthly. Happened twice. I finally had to email them and say I had a lawyer and would sue. Then they cut me off without making any silly offers lol.

  • Man that Rep was a jackass!!

That's partly why no one uses aol, aren't they out of business yet? lol

  • Free is free.

Dial-up may suck, but it's pretty damn cheap, too. And if you're near a WiFi spot, why pay for it when you can get it for free?

  • whats AOL lol

  • haha i heard this last year on john and ken

  • I agree with both parties to a degree. Anyone who has ever had to deal with people over the phone at their job knows how exasperating it could be. This Ferrari guy comped an attitude from the start. The AOL guy was WAY over the line, but sometimes you just get fed up with people dumping bullshit on you and you take it out on them.

  • Thats why you get paid. I was a security guard for years, I've been through every level of shit that can be dumped on a person as an employee. Then I got paid, and thats why I continued to politely tell drunks they can not sleep inside an office, even after they "comped an attitude".

  • my mom canceled it with no problems

  • ok just to let everyone know those type of jobs that you answer the phone get trained to keep the customers money soo in a way the aol guy was doing his job and ya i have worked at that kind of job and it really sucks when you lose a job that they train you to do that soo ya

just to let u guys know so its not the aol guys fault its the company that trained him to keep the customer

  • This is not the full tape of this episode.... If you locate the longer version im sure the rep starts swearing at the guy. I know the rep lost his job at the end of it and for good reason....

  • dude, spamming is not good. i blame you for aol.

  • No. the representative did not handle it correctly. Not one bit. He had an attitude from the beginning.

  • GOD! They were notorious for that!

  • OMG now THAT is an awesome last name vincent Ferrari

  • i was about to say that

  • new rod stweart song aol make ME MADD!

  • i actually cussed them out on a different matter. i had a ballance tht was so high tht i never did i refused to pay ....i said fuck tht i aint paying tht..

  • Are you kidding me?. I was hoping it was satan who was cancelling his account so that the asshole AOL rep and Timer Warner will be be sleeping with ten bibles in theirs beds!

  • mmmm well i think they both could have been a bit more polite to eachother m
