You looks so great, thanks for the info for all fools around. haha. :) In swissland they even use it to replace vigro? haha, if those guys know this... will be funny. And it has absolute no side effect like it too. :) Happy happy. :) We also can eat more oats soups selling in stores if can not get raw herbs too. It also good for our colon health.:) Because the rough fiberic in. :) But I think 1 ounce is looks too much .
I've been drinking 1-2 cups of oatstraw tea (oatstraw tops) a day for a while now with some wild oats thrown in... so the phytoestrogens in oatstraw aren't gonna have a negative effect on my body as a 23 yr old male, right??
Is it preferable to use the stems, tops or both? I eat steel-cut oats regularly without any issue but when I drank the infusion it gave me a slight itchiness in my throat. Have you ever heard of this reaction before... is it normal?
I just bought myself 1kg of all the herbs you listed here for making infusions.
I would like to know, should I stick to drinking 1 type of infusion a day and the next day a different infusion or should I stick to drinking one type of infusion for a while so my body gets used to its healing benefits before moving to another?
I like all the infusions and drink them regularly, but oatstraw and nettle are my favourites. I drink a pint of ice cold oatstraw infusion every night before I go to bed.
The taste of oatstraw reminds me of honey and the taste of nettle reminds me of milk... Maybe it's just me :-)
@andrewwilliams76 - both oatstraw and nettle have as much or more calcium as milk and in a blind taste test certainly nettle and milk are comparable...
Why didnt I think of making a strong tea/infusion like that? What a great idea! I have been making them by putting a large amount of herbs in a coffee filter and tying it shut and letting it steep in a coffee cup of hot water. But the jar method for 4 hours would be much better because it would make it so much stronger and more effective. Cool! :)
it grows just about everywhere that grasses grow, but it is generally cultivated. You can purchase the oatstraw from a local healthfood store or online..buy in bulk one pound or more.
I have read that oat straw, like oats, contains gluten and therefore might not be best for gluten-intolerant people. I'm enjoying watching Susan make her infusions. I'm learning that I do not use enough dry herb in my infusion. One oz is a considerable amount! Any problem with making an infusion in a large thermos bottle to keep it warm?
Love oatstraw and the simple power of herbal infusions. I have been a fan of yours since I discovered you in 1985. For some reason it occurred to me just this evening to see if you had any YouTube videos and to my happiness, you do. I had the pleasure of meeting you, several years ago at the Iowa Herb Fest, and seeing you on YT was like seeing an old friend. I will be happy to view all of your postings.
both red clover and oatstraw are wonderful and complimentary.
you can get your herbs at frontier herbs or at mountain rose herbs or at catskill mountain herbals or at your local health food store...buy in bulk. one pound or more.
is there any way to use powdered oatstraw?

@TheCerberusbindweed - yes, best to stick with one infusion and then rotate from day to day.

Is oatstraw safe for pregnancy? All of the benefits sound great, would I be able to use it like I would red raspberry leaf infusions?

I'm not sure the herb can help someone of your age get knocked up.

Cloe, absolutely right - no herb will make a crone pregnant...smile.

Er, that was a bit of tongue-in-cheek humor, of course.
Thanks for the advice.

This planet is getting overpopulated and polluted.
Let's find herbs to stop reproduction until we have a chance to figure out how to live sustainably.

make your infusion in a glass canning jar or in a pot...then strain and reheat to put in your thermos.

Dear Ms. Weed -
So very lovely to have met you at the "party" on Saturday!
It would seem your "oatstraw" infusion vid is just in time for Valentine's Day?!
Can you give us tips on where to find good quality herbs for infusions? Preferably organically grown?
Now, I'm confused. I've heard that Red Clover is the ultimate women's tonic, yet you cite the OatStraw as a phytoestrogen that will boost libido.
Can one use both? Or might we all wind up with octuplets, post-menopausally?
