Even though the characters use swords and more violent techniques to destroy each other, when these guys fight they remind me of Dragon ball Z or martial arts fights. I especially love the movie Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. It displays aspects of modern kung fu and that is remarkable to see in modern gaming as well. My favourite part~ 3:03 onwards...

The blade sung in harmony with the sound of screeching metal, not the slightest hint of strain evident even though its weilder was slicing through solid steel, as ealisy as though it was butter. The barrel of the cannon was completely destroyed in just a few clean, smooth strokes. Huge wringlets of metals were cut loose into freefall, their mass quickly dragging them into the ocean below with a great explosion of salty water.

Angeal is so underrated. While Sephiroth is clearly the superior of the three, Genesis had to struggle just to be on par with Sephiroth's playful sparring. Meanwhile, Angeal held back the most. If you know anything about Angeal, it's that he only draws his Buster Sword when he's absolutely serious. He blocked Sephiroth with only the HILT of the Buster Sword. This is supported by the fact that he was trying to stop them the whole time, never once going all out.

FF7 is the nerd's Catcher in the Rye and people adding all their stupid interpretations to it only ruin the elegance of the original. It didn't even have the same writers... the people who wrote it only had a surface knowledge of FF7's story. Tifa didn't know the trooper was Cloud until Sephiroth's defeat. Crisis Core raped that fact, along with many others. If you like something... DON'T KILL IT!

@CultureCrossbreed IIRC Tifa didn't know the trooper was Cloud, either. In fact, Cloud took pains to hide his identity around Tifa the entire time they were in Nibelheim, which I found especially endearing in keeping with the story.

The original can't be said to be as elegant either: a large part of its backstory was left completely ambiguous in a way that didn't forward anything plot-wise, and deliberately so. The whole point of the Compilation was to build on this. And Zack, who's awesome.

@Benjifritz93 No he didn't, as much as I like Sephiroth, Genesis didn't ACTUALLY lose in the sparring. Genesis got hurt in the end thanks to Zack's lame SOLDIER's sword. Genesis's sword cut through Zack's sword, and the pieces of sword bounce back towards Genesis and gave him a deep cut, and that's how he got the materia poisioning.

well technically, but remember cloud said he's never seen zack use it, and in the clips the only time he uses it is to knock out some random creature (forget wat exactly) but the point remains, he never used it except for gameplay (which doesn't makes sense XD)

@HeartlessSora1234 Zack sees his buster sword as a symbol, a memorial type of item, and not a weapon. Since his father gave it to him, or crafted it for him if I remember correctly. It's a bit sad that Cloud uses it as a weapon, didn't quite respect the original holder's concept, but oh well. Lucky Cloud got a better one later on.
