Just because I CHOOSE not to drive, and give half of my paycheck for fuel so my LARD ASS can sit in an overpriced empty 8 passenger suv doesn't mean I havent paid for use of the road. You should read the laws for your area I think you'll be livid since you think we cyclists "don't have the right" :-)
i agree that if you ride your bike for transportation then you are doing a lot for the environment but kids see adults riding their bike in the street and think it's ok. not only that most cyclist teach their kids its ok to ride in the street. what about people who are driving and someone jumps out of nowhere and gets hit and it's not really the drivers fault? they have to go through life with that on their conscience or they get their freedom taken from them. be considerate to everyone assholes

A green Toyota Corolla, came along side Me swerving their Vehicle toward Me several times. It was literally inches from me. It was a deliberate act. They tried to Knock me from My bike. I swerved to avoid it. I was very lucky. I could be dead. FACT.

The problem is bicyclists in the road appear to be doing it for non-essential entertainment/exercise purposes, while most people in cars actually have to be somewhere. However bikes are tiny and most cars only have 1 occupant, so they are really just as deserving of using the road. Bike lanes are a good idea, but it can be annoying if you're in a rush somewhere and you see far ahead some bikes are slowing the traffic down.

This incident did not take place in the USA. It happened In Europe. It was reported to the local authorities and is currently undergoing investigation. I know the laws are pretty steep in America for such reckless driving, and so they should be. For example just look at the case of Christopher Thompson. JAILED FOR FIVE YEARS. This is ridiculous. As a "motor vehicle", a bike has just as much a right to the road as a car. Yes, I ride bikes and I commute roughly around 45 miles total a day. I ve been hit a few times, had to drop out of school cause I was hospitalized and all.. just cause I wanted to do my part. The problem is bicyclists in the road appear to be doing it for non-essential entertainment/exercise purposes, while most people in cars actually have to be somewhere. However bikes are tiny and most cars only have 1 occupant, so they are really just as deserving of using the road. Bike lanes are a good idea, but it can be annoying if you're in a rush somewhere and you see far ahead some bikes are slowing the traffic down.
